Chapter 90 - Treatments

Ordinary treatments that were not possible in the current age that people did not have access to would lead to all kinds of long lasting problems and even death.

There were other times when a person would encounter a single point in their life when an illness or accident would be the ruin of them.

From a fall to suddenly catching a disease that was not yet discovered, they would seek out doctors to treat them but the doctors were not as advanced and prepared to treat them.

If they were not already dead then they were already in a poor state and would be looking for a cure or would be waiting out their remaining years until their end would arrive unless they chose to end their suffering one way or the other.

There were others that could not afford the treatments for what the doctors could treat and had to endure everything or would have to seek out a doctor with less expertise.

Many were seeking out rumours to help them in the form of scammers or quack doctors so they had been exploited or harmed further each time.

Those that had been targeted by Blush and her people were those people that needed the help.

Some had little use to Alchemi while others had been known for their great talents or abilities before their downfall.

It started with Blush handing over a serum or a pill of medicine to cure what illness they had but there were far more difficult patients among them that needed different treatments.

A man was lying on a table with a very muscular body and had several sword marks on it which showed that he was probably a swordsman but he had lost a hand.

To any profession, there were many body parts that were required to function properly or still remain if certain tasks were to be performed properly.

If a swordsman could not hold a sword properly then they would no longer be useful.

A lot of swordsmen heavily relied on their sword skills to be able to earn funds for living and may not have a backup plan for living so they would slowly drain away their funds and fall into ruin very quickly.

Knights of certain noble families would be discarded once they were no longer useful and free swordsmen would find it difficult to continue looking for work as a mercenary.

Those smart enough or talented enough to come up with an alternative solution to their problem could try learning something new, replacing a limb with something or to try training another arm to wield a sword so they could continue their life but most had to quit that life before they put themselves in more danger further.

Blush injected a serum into the body of the man but there were no visible changes to him. "Now we should begin."

Blush started to cut the arm carefully below the place where the hand had been severed and healed over time.

A small section of the arm was removed and Blush started to treat it so that there would be no other complications like blood loss or infection.

The wound seemed to naturally close up but it had formed a strange layer of shedded skin over it.

Blush showed a slight smile. "Now the observation period should begin to see if it is successful."

There were many people who would have suffered from injuries that left them incapable of performing what they could before.

It could be something like breaking a bone, severing a muscle or losing a limb but each of them could be treated by a skilled surgeon in the future if the conditions were right.

Unfortunately medicine had yet to advance that far and it was already much too late for many people so they had no way of finding a treatment method that would work.

Blush had a way to overcome that and it was done using different animal genes that could be used to regrow limbs or no longer need an organ that was failing.

Different types of lizards had been tested as part of her serum research on the test subjects that had been brought in and Blush had found out which among them had the greatest results for granting the subject the ability to regrow their limbs.

It was a little like how Lizardman of the Spiderman series had regrown his arm but the mutation and personality changes had not been an issue.

It was not healing or limb regeneration to the level of the Namekian race that was almost instantaneous but it was enough to help treat those injuries.

They each needed some time to regrow their limbs so it could not be used in combat situations and they could still die if they suffered heavy enough injuries or lost enough blood.

For some people, the ability would not have all that much of a use to them but to those who needed it, they would be willing to sell their souls to have the chance at a new start to their life.

The prospects of having a job that would pay them was an additional bonus to get them to sign up for the treatment but not everyone was so happy about the other conditions.

The contract itself would have made them hesitate but there were others that were not so willing to trade away their freedom for anything.

Having to keep everything a secret would make most believe that there was something shady about the deal and the treatment so more law abiding citizens were not as willing to be connected to an illegal group.

Each of them may not have been so willing to give up on their lives but there were people who were ready to accept living under a new identity.

It would be strange for them to suddenly be healed or regrow a limb so it would attract unwanted attention which was why that condition was put in place.

Everything was done in order to test the success of different types of serums to treat different conditions but it was to maintain the secrets that Blush had kept while adding some talents to the ranks of Alchemi.

One business plan that was rejected was an organ transplant business that would use a healthy criminal to be transformed into an identical copy of the patient so that there would be a perfectly matching organ but Blush was able to find an alternative method with different animals that could live without certain organs.

It was far more efficient to use a single serum to fix the problem than to use a serum along with the life of a criminal and it would require her to put more effort into catching criminals that actually deserved such treatment.

The pain the criminals had to endure during her experiments had been reduced to the point where they did not feel what was happening to them as they changed and Blush was not so cruel to inflict harm on them unless there were special circumstances involved.

She made sure that they would not be in pain when they went through various changes or tests unless it was absolutely needed to test certain conditions or reactions to pain or stimulus and if they were someone in particular that she had a major grudge against to want to hurt them.

With her father being dead at her own hands, Blush did not have any major enemy or hatred towards another person so she did not really need to go that far even towards the criminals that may have deserved whatever punishment she could possibly give them.

Each of the patients were placed in a carriage then were led away from the capital while their homes were visited so they could be cleared out.

They started to receive the aftercare that was needed before they were each given a new identity and job.

The disappearance of those people were not that important to those in the capital but when a lot of people started mysteriously disappearing, it had become a very strange event that happened that nobody could find any clues about.

The buildings that Blush had used were rented out for a short time and the owners only received a fixed cash payment before their memories were altered slightly so there were no ways to follow the money or to track down who was behind everything.

The capital quickly returned to its usual peaceful state and others slowly began to accept that those missing may have just left the city.

Those that had started to recover had quickly begun to notice that their bodies were different than before and that they had received several enhancements so there was a needed time for them to adjust to their changes and to completely recover but once they had done so, they would be able to get to work within Alchemi.
