Chapter 8 - 8. My antisocial life ( Nate's POV )

Ever tried to get rid of someone but they just don't seem to take the hint. Instead they push you harder and at the end of the day you become someone else. You try to avoid that but you don't have a choice. Your name prevents you from doing it all. Well my name anyways. Nate Lee Liu. A guy who is trying to be antisocial as much but his name keeps molding him into its fortuned shape. Into something I'm not.

My childhood was not like other kids but it was something. My Father is a Japanese billionaire oiland gas tycoon in the US married to an award winning international actress and socialite from the UK. Biracial indeed. By the age of ten my parents did everything in their power to make me and my twin brother emotionless sophisticated children who followed their culture and habits .

We lived and breathed for them to notice or appreciate us.

They never participated in any of our events or show up in our presentations neither did they do hugs, kisses or anything which showed affection. We grew up lonely and depressed but learnt to be numb as we aged.

Namir however was different and found a way to move on entirely from this. He was a happy child. Wild, ambitious, smart and outspoken. A full time extrovert, who lived life to the fullest and adventurous when ever he could be whereas I was a rebel, dominant player and a assertive type of person. I loved my peace and preferred to stay home than go out. Although my status didn't allow me to do that so I had to fake love networking. I was very different from Namir incomparably but somehow got along deeply. We didn't bend when our parents told us too and we certainly didn't care if we pleased them or not.

After my trip from Marseille in France, I immediately got back to enroll at FIA college and started the week later. I missed New York. Being back at the school felt weird. New year and crazy people vibes I guess . I desired to avoid all of them though. I'm not into socializing and I prefer spending my time in my room than with my friends. Most of them are my childhood friends and some are of my parents business associates. It's nothing personal but I don't like most of them. They are too fake.

I just stickied around because of Natalie who kept on insisting I hang around but my heart wasn't there. The reason why I have a bad reputation of girls is because I use them as an excuse to leave my friends. I agree on terms with the girl and when time is up, we disband. Usually less than 3 weeks. It's not hard really. Just one rule to follow- DON'T FALL FOR HER!

Its either that or I break up with her after i have seen her true motives or she started to annoy me. Since I broke up with my ex Samantha, a vacancy has opened and recently someone caught my attention and she might be my next target.

I was passing by the lobby when somebody bumped into me. I shaked my head feeling a little dazed and confused. Before I could respond to the incident, I glanced and deeply stared at the girl. She was attractive, short and had long brunette hair with beautiful brown eyes. Sadly due to time, I could not stay to talk so I promptly left.

Although I saw her later in the cafetorium, speaking to Natalie and she looked furious. I would not blame her because Natalie can be rude and too much. It obviously wasn't the right time to speak to her. Then again during recess she approached with her colourful friend at the table we were sitting on. They were having lunch with us. That's when I learnt she is related to River.

I exchanged a few glances with her and she seemed very carefree talking to her friend while the rest of us fiddled on our cell-phones. I envied her moreover when she got into an argument with Stacy. The reflection of her flaws were good as she responded confident and fiestyto her. I had found my match.

Later on my way to the headmaster's office, I passed by the lobby ''again'' and I spotted her. She seemed deep in thought and I decided to finally make my move.

'' So you are a confident baddie?''

she swiveled swiftly to face me though stepped on her foot accidentally and almost fell. Luckily I caught her and she rapidly shifted from me.

''Thanks for that..'' she gently smiled

''please define Baddie''then giggled.

I grinned, what an easy target. Maybe she has not heard about me.

''where you heading, I will accompany you there"

'' to Fearless Standard 9" she sheepishly said.

We walked and talked then reached the classroom but before we could enter I dragged her aside.

'' Let me get to the point'' I let out a sigh'' I want you to date me... well act like it for a month and in return you will get fame, popularity or status'' I cornered her.

She gaped at me in silence and I started having second thoughts. Am I wrong

'' Well.. Who knew.. thanks, I was tired of having to act sweet and innocent when you are irritating as a church mouse can be'' she smirked. Evily.

so she know me. She took out a piece of paper and wrote down her numbers.

'' Text me, then let me know the conditions. Only for a month''.

I nodded in shock. what had I gotten myself into. She didn't even flinch to what I proposed to her and here she is demanding me. She intrigued me.

I placed the paper in the pockets of my slacks and continued my visit to the headmaster.

What just happened. That is not how I imagined her reaction to be. This girl already had motives and I made it easy for her to achieve them. Although what are those motives. This is frustrating. I guess I will have to go through with it since I suggested this and she accepted. School soon came to a end and I went home immediately with a mission.
