Chapter 5 - The Crew P2

Disclaimer- When I say "I" I'm speaking of the POV of Pete the main character.

'How are we going to trust a guy that wanted to kill us literal hours ago?'

'I don't know man but everyone's agreeing so I'll just go with it, "Your right" Fredrick(the guy around the computer.

Tommy takes notice of his awkward body language of Fredrick and tries to explain something to him he takes a knee he talks to him, "Don't worry about it kid, it's not personal."

"He won't betray us, he only wanted to kill us because that's how he had the highest chance of surviving but he later noticed that it was stupid, just a natural survival instinct Don't sweat it."

"Okay okay..." Fredrick mumbles as he goes back to typing on his laptop.

'Not that you have a choice your going to have to grow up real quick kid' Tommy monologues to himself.

"Okay boys, so what do you say we loot them and take their guns", Tommy says while having his hands on his hips and looking at the dead bodies.

I have a sigh of relief as I didn't think the plan was going to work, 'I'm still a bit skeptical, why would they turn their backs on us? Could it be some sick twisted test by the government, maybe I'm overthinking it?'

As Jim goes to loot the body, "don't forget the MRE's" Tommy yells.

"True, I was just going to get their guns, good thinking dude."

"You're not the only fighter here man, I have to survive this" Tommy says with a much more serious tone.

What's an MRE? Jim asks

"Meal Ready to Eat, they look like squares just take everything they have," Fredrick shouts awkwardly

"Alright bet." Jim responds

"When we find a planet that's habitable we come back, get some women and we stay on that planet," Almain says.

'That's the most fictional bullshit I ever heard

"Uhm... Not a bad idea Almain. I don't quite agree but I like the active thinking."

Almain shrugs.

As Almain Tommy and Pete are in the same area within 10 meters of the spaceship.

Do you think it would be better if we split up? and meet on one planet.

That's the stupidest thing I ever heard you say, Al. Tommy mumbles.

Tommy explains that "It's best if we work as a group, for example, we split up and send Jimmy here to go to the research site and little jimmy doesn't come back, But because little jimmy is dead we know that this planet isn't safe and we can leave.

"So you're saying if one of our own is lost or attacked we should just leave?" Fredrick looks behind him at the 3 men.

"What he stated is just one action out of a hundred possible solutions, again our mission is to survive, the more of us that survive and the longer we stay alive the higher the chance for us to find a planet that's habitable, Under no means we send anyone out to research on their own don't forget the possibility that were not alone in."

"You're saying there are other humans in space." Almain chuckles

"No, I'm saying that extraterrestrial beings and extraterrestrial animals can be out there."

"Come to the fuck on man this isn't disne-"

"No Almain, he's right," Tommy thinks...

"That's what's been on my mind the most actually, I'm genuinely terrified that too much evidence points to that being the case."

"Come the fuck on man."

As Jim comes back he puts the guns and the MREs in the crates.

He opens another crate as he sees the Astronaut Suit in it.

Wow, they gave us suits and everything.

I walk over a bit to where he is "Be careful with the equipment and the suit is called an Extravehicular Mobility Unit"

"Well excuse me scholar" Jim grunts.

"I'm not a scholar didn't you get all get a book to read?"

"I used it as a pillow to rest my head..." Jim mumbles

.....

Okay Jim, as I go for my book I remember I left it at the base.

"Well, Paint me green and call me a fucking pickle mate...."

sigh*

"Did anyone here carry their book?"

I have mine Almain says.

Okay Jim you need to read that, this isn't a joke being ignorant will only get us all killed.

Tommy looks angry but he tries to hide it.

As he takes the book from Almain he gives it to Jim.

As he places the book in his hand he whispers, "remember Jim a team is only as good as its weakest link."
