Chapter 8 - Mission Success

The woman stares at the man with a worried gaze. The man slowly raises himself into a sitting position.

"Padraic?" the woman opens,

"I thought I was going to die," he responds, "Thank You very much, what is your name?" He inquires of me,

"I am Masayuki Giichi, but just call me Giichi, what are your names?" I return,

They begin explaining themselves and how they ended up in that situation. The man's name is Padraic(pronounced Padraig, English name Patrick), he is an orphan. The women's name is Medb(pronounced Maeve, English name Maeve), she is also an orphan. They both like me awoke under the great tree, however they woke up right next to each other and I woke up alone. They had apparently been awake for two days already and have been spending their days looking around the tree for other people. While taking a shortcut through the woods they were confronted by the Fenrir. Padraic tried to protect Medb but we all know what happened from there.

"If you have been looking for other people how come there is no one accompanying you?" I inquire,

"We have yet to meet anyone other than you, did you also wake up beneath the tree?" Padraic added,

"I did wake up beneath the tree, do you guys have any idea how we got here?" I continue,

The conversation carries on like this for a while, just questions back and forth until about noon. They have no memories other than their names. When the sun was directly over head they got up and invited me to their shelter.

"How long ago did you wake up?" Medb asks,

"A few minutes before I met you guys." I respond,

Surprised they murmur to each other for a little while and finally Padraic speaks up, "Then come with us to our shelter, it can get dangerous out here when the sun sets, not that you need any help."

I gladly accept their offer, I'm confident I could kill more Fenrir as long as it is 1v1, but I doubt they go out at night alone. We make the long trek back to their shelter, taking in the beauty of the green hills and plains that stretched out around the tree. The grass while wild and unruly did not detract from the beauty of the scene. The air was crisp and smelled of nature, pure earth. The sun began to set during our journey and the fields were set a light by the fire flies that shone brighter than the stars. Lost in thought I stop to gaze at the insects.

"We must hurry, the night is extremely dangerous!" Padraic announces, snapping me out of the trance.
