"What do you want to see me for?" He asked, as he stood up to offer me a seat.

While rubbing the back of my head in slight embarrassment, I finally talked while staring at the ground.

"You know dad, you could have really choose to continue instead of dismissing th----"

He interrupts me with a wide smile

"I could never choose meetings over my family. Not even my own very s--"

"Dad please!" I didn't know were those words came out from but, all I knew is that I brought his speech to an abrupt end.

Everywhere became as silent as a graveyard, all we did was to stare at each other, before we were called back to consciousness by papers that fell from the table to the floor.

I took my sit as he walks further from me and nearer to his seat to pick the papers that fell to the floor.

"Sorry". I replied curtly but, with a hint of guilt.

"No, *He chuckles* it isn't your fault". I could see his remorseful look behind his wide smile. It sent chills to my spine as I thought of myself as being overbearing.

"Well, what are you really here for?" *He asks as he flings himself lazily on his chair.

Seeing he was back to his lively mood as usual, I summoned extra courage.

"Dad, *He smiles every single time mention the word 'dad' while talking to him*

-Who do you think a true leader is?"

I quickly changed my question to engage him a bit before i ask him what i really wanted to.

"A true leader?" He asked while stroking his chin with his fingers.

Laughing gently, he asks,

"What got you thinking to that extent?"

Giving no space for a reply, he shoved is hands into his hair, alongside a weird smile that crept on his lips.

"Even I don't have the true answer for that. Except you want me to tell you a lie".

What fascinated me the most about my dad was his transparency. His dawn to earth approach to situations or questions was on another plain itself.

"Is that so?" I asked out of the blue because, I never knew he would have no answers to this question. All I was waiting for was a perfect opportunity to ask my question.

"You could ask General Minamino, He should be off duty today. Paying a visit to him would make him happier than ever".

He smiled brightly alongside a wink that made him look like a superhero.

No to be honest, more like a dumb superhero. And I felt his last statement had some lies in it.

Firstly, how the hell is your head commander off duty? Even if he has no work to do, he's still has something here or there to monitor or manage.

Secondly, how would paying him a visit make him happier?

With the look on my face, my dad stopped smiling and lets out a heavy sigh after noticing I realized his words were half a truth.

Although, I finally found an opportunity to speak.

"What do you think my special talent is?" I asked with a serious look and the best I could expect was a serious answer.

"I'm sorry I think I didn't hear you well." He cupped his ears with his hands for emphasis.

"Every single being in the army has an area of specialization at least." My facial expression darkened in an instant as I kept staring at both of my palms.

Understanding quickly, he smiles gently as he changes his sitting posture.

"What's my main source of power, is it from a natural phenomenon? Signed pact with creatures? Forged orbs? Awakened or sealed instincts?"

Noticing my voice pitch was getting higher, he calls me back to order.

"Calm down!" His serious look made me shudder for a second. "This is what you call reality, a bitter truth itself. Let me make it clear to you son, you are who you are. You have no special talent, neither were you given birth with a super power."

His words cut right through me like a double edged sword.

"So is this my limit?" I asked in a panicked tone as I stared at my palms in defeat. "I might probably obably a reincarnate". I said while smiling in a delusional manner.

"No!" He said, as he touched my hands before raising his head slowly. "This is not your limit," He said coolly.

"This, He uses his index fingers to poke the sides of my head gently.

-Is the true power of your creation".

"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked with sincerity.

"Your way of thinking is your true power. No, every single living thing's way of thinking is their true power." He placed his hands on my head gently.

"But, why was Yamamoto the special one?" I asked.

My dad's expression widened in an instant as he stares at me like a lifeless body.

The last time I remembered tears rolling down my cheeks, was five years ago. Even though this one was only a trickle but, dad knew I was serious this time around.

"Who the hell is our mom? How does she behave? How does she look like? Why couldn't he (Yamamoto) save us? Why did they have to die? W-why, why weren't you around when we needed you the most?"

The bitterness in my statement could be felt as my dad remained dumbfounded as he stared right into my eyes.

I kept imagining and fooling myself at an instant, I thought believing that my deceased siblings were like this or the other, would make me retrieve my memories but here I am, no clue about my own past.

Anytime Dad tried explaining, it seemed like he was speaking in another language as it entered into one of my ears and went out through the other.

After series of questioning, my dad decided to answer. I could hear his voice tremble as he spoke:

"I have no clue to what you want, neither do I have answers to your questions. But, all I know is that I will try my best to fulfill my duty as a father till the end for you.

I have no idea of your power or ability but, that doesn't limit you to what you want to achieve. Determination is the greatest power, or talent one could ever have".

I guess I have been in the wrong after all. Thinking that my dad was wrong, and everyone was an enemy or an obstacle to my shady goals.

Damn! I'm just like a warrior with no b*lls to fight in an actual battle.

I guess I'll have to meet with the head captain after all.

***

"I'll take my leave dad". I stood up from the ground after apologizing to my dad for attempting to go beyond my limits.

All I needed now was a new mindset. The mindset of a true leader.
