Chapter 17 - Mystery Unveling

---------------------16-----------------------

Puzzled and bewildered by the mysteriousness of the village, Lisa found notes written by a person whose name was (J.T). She only knew this from the darkly inked signature at the bottom.

Though she could read elvish, the handwritten letter was unintelligible because of its condition. A thick fog covers the village as nightfall breaches.

Looking out into the dark forest, they spot stone obelisks. Taller than the treelines, seemingly creating a square area with the village.

Weirdly, the village differs from the surrounding. No vegetation was native to the surroundings.

Lisa continued to grapple with her thoughts. She couldn't help but wonder if the creature they had encountered earlier posed a threat to the village. However, as she searched for evidence to support her hypothesis, she found none. This only left her feeling more perplexed.

The powerful, calming smell diverted her attention away from the thought.

Looking over to the window shelve nearby, she found a lavender flower. Growing in a small white pot.

A sudden realization hit her. She found a plant that would be impossible to plant in the wet soil of the forest. As she approached the plant, she found it in perfect condition, which intrigued her.

As she leaned in closer, smelling its soothing fragrance, calming her. She starts tearing up a little as memories from the past rush back.

The smell reminded her of her home and her family. Elvish traditions use the smell of lavender as medicine, cooking, and decorations. Her family lived near a field of lavender with a secluded group of elves.

Though she grew up in a small-knit village, she did not get along well with her peers.

She was smaller than other elves but had incredible adeptness for magic, able to use magic at a young age. She also loved reading since she read her first book. "The source of magic". Her ability and knowledge naturally increased over time. The book was a gift from her father, who also had an incredible talent for magic. Who tragically passed away when she was young, which left her with only her mother to comfort her.

Through what she heard, he fought to defend their village from bandits. Some worked with slave traders to sell "exotic" races. Targeting younger children and women.

Though this was unlawful by all races. This still happens from time to time.

Her father and the other elves who sacrificed their lives to defend their family and friends were buried near the lavender field. Because of this, the lavender flower was an emotional symbol for her.

'I miss him,' she thought to herself. The heavy atmosphere in the room was felt by both Yuna and Rite, whose attention was on Lisa at this point. Wiping away her tears quickly.

After a quick explanation to the group, mesmerized by Lisa's discovery, Rite asked.

'How did a lavender plant like this find its way here, of all places?'

Lisa's voice trembled as she replied, 'I can't explain it, but it feels like a connection to something deeper, something much greater."
