Chereads / Reincarnated as a Dragoness / Chapter 6 - Leveling

Chapter 6 - Leveling

----------------------6----------------------

Listening to the rattle of tools each step, still hanging on to the hope of her getting stronger observing her environment deserted, cold, wasteland. Wondering if any settlement is even nearby, [if not why would she be following him?] she thought as they endlessly wander the winding snow-covered road. A sudden streak of blood ran through her nose with the smell of iron, even though she could not see or sense in which direction only knowing it was nearby.

When she was reborn in this form her senses seems to have gotten much better, well to compare it with a human then it was extremely useful but it had a downside every time she would smell the reek of something bad it would always make her nauseous even though she was not near anything.

The hunter seems to also get a sense of something speeding forward over a slope spotting a gory scene of blood and human remains, in the middle of wreckage [seems like they went over the slope a little too quickly] looking over at the remain spotting a half-eaten body and bones and gore, that was sufficing for her to almost threw up keeping it to her self she calm down and had a look at the men faces.

Even though there was not much of it left she would probably guess that this was her kidnappers. Or they could just be traders, [why would they have a dragon egg?] she rethink. Concluding that the wolfs probably had gotten up to them, the bodies were frozen cold their face still had a reaction that was almost nightmare material.

Inside the wrecked carnage, there was a necklace woven with a white wool string that was a stain of blood still on one of the bodies, the hunter went over and took a look at the dead horse that had almost all its flesh torn down to the bones.

There was no other word but they deserve this for throwing her off the carriage snapping the necklace off the body's neck he place it inside the bag right beside her. Taking a look at it, it had a similar symbol to the lantern rune. With a diamond shape and scribble on it, she was interested but still could not read it. [Magic must be common in this world then] she thought.

[sadly, my mana is still zero which means I probably can't use any magic] hoping in the future she could shoot fireballs out of her hands, like in some cartoon she used to watch as a kid. It made her chuckle a little memorizing the time she had watched it with her parents. It was almost noon after walking for hours she notice that he was still going strong as if not feeling any exhaustion.

"WOW" she was a little surprised by his high stats higher than her in everything. [huh his magical resistance seems too close to mine, why did he not get affected by the corruption], Compared to him my health also seems pretty high for my size almost one and a half feet tall counting tail to nose she was pretty tiny compared to him. Guessing his height he was about six foot five inches, still jealous of his height because she was only five and a half feet tall while she still had her human form.

While continuing their walk they stopped multiple times to rest seeing him trying to start a fire she snuck out and tried to level. Knowing that she was pretty weak finding something she could beat would be a difficulty, luckily around this area only hare and wolfs are prevalent. Finally searching around she found an adult hare which had white fur and was about as big as her, slowly sneaking behind the hare to use the same pouncing tactic that she used before.

Her instinct allows her to slowly form a slit in her eyes focusing on the hare's movement, as she guesses how far she could jump waiting for the hair to step in the right spot. "rustle" leaping at the hare it aiming for its neck, however, this hare seems to be smarter dodging to its right missing her attack she plunges her face deep in the snow as the hare leaps away, a little embarrassed she ran after it even though the speed of the rabbit was quick she was slightly faster on her four paws. Claws dig deeper into the snow she leap once again toward the rabbit this time getting its foot, now hurt the hare tried to struggle to break free without hope she bit deeper into its neck slowly dying as it took its last breath.

Now that her speed had slightly increased she could feel her body getting lighter moving around was less of a hassle. Her mouth still carried the rabbit dragging its body to where she saw smoke, the campfire was started by the hunter when she was gone slowly the sun went down letting a red blanket as it slowly goes to bed. Their surrounding started to slowly fade to the darkness as she successfully drag the hare back to camp, happily she dropped the carcass near the hunter as he looked with a [I can't believe you managed to get one] on his face.

With a feeling of pride, she looked back at him smiling, skinning the hare he went waiting for the meal she continue to observe the surroundings watching for the smoke she saw last time to set in. Having already set up the lantern they began to enjoy the meal, grilled rabbit to exactly count the last time she had an actual meal was days ago the soup that he gave her last time was just vegetable soup, jerky tasted like frozen cardboard.

Happy and warm she now remembers her last experience of sleep hoping it would not be another nightmare she slowly snuck closer to him this time not wanting to sleep alone. As soon as the fire burned out the lantern lit up bright something appear in the darkness once again but this time...it was different.
