Alaric was drinking water from the plastic bottle, his friends sitting on the bench which circled the huge mango tree in the middle. Jackie slapped the bottle away from Alaric's face, and the water splashed all over his uniform, sticking to his chest. "What the actual fuck?" he calmly said, staring wide eyed at the fuming face of Jackie. Her hazel hair was loose, giving off a wild vibe. Everyone stopped talking. "Did you write this?" She threw the crumpled note on his face, but Alaric caught it easily, opening the contents. He sighed and sweetly smiled at her, "I don't do notes, love. I just ask them for a one-night stand." She heard Bobby cover his smile, "so you didn't write this?" Jackie asked, getting conscious of herself. "No. But if you are desperate about it, i can text you the details of the hotel. How about tonight?" He raised an eyebrow. Jackie noticed Daisy was filming their little scene. So she ended it. "I'd rather choke on my vomit."
"That was badass," Jade said. They were heading towards the second and the last class for the day. Basics of Elemental. She was excited about this class and promised herself she wouldn't be distracted again. "Yeah, well, it was also embarrassing. The note wasn't from Alaric." They sat in the front row, and to her left, Jackie noticed the girl sitting. It was the same girl who she met at the store and the exam day. The girl saw her staring, and Jackie quickly smiled at her. She didn't respond. "Oh by the way, i know it's a little early to hang out after school, but would you be my date to this conference thing at Romulus Veterans Hospital?"
"Oh, they are celebrating Dr. Grayson's paper."
"Yeah, she's my mother." Jade said, taking out the book.
"Oh wow, congrats, but I'm going on my mom's date." She shrugged.
"So you'll be there?"
"Definitely." Jackie grinned.
"Hey Sabrina, you're going too, right?" Jade leaned in to get a better look at the girl with the midnight hair. Jackie was surprised to know that they knew each other. Sabrina didn't look at Jade, but muttered a yes. She was texting someone on her phone. "You know her?" Jackie whispered to Jade. he nodded, smiling. "We've been friends for a long time. She's really nice." Just then the professor entered, a woman with a boy haircut and a lavender suit. "It's a fine day to learn about basics of magic. Now let's start." She sounded out of breath and looked tired. Someone in the back raised a hand. It was a boy with glasses. "won't you introduce yourself?" he said without fear. Everyone thought she would scold him, but she just chuckled. "Oh, I'm sorry. I've just clocked out of work. Right, my name is Celian Knox and I work at the Citadel as the director of the Advanced Combat division. I hope we get along."
Everyone perked up and started asking questions. I guess I'm not the only one interested in going to the citadel. Jackie thought, getting excited about having a professor who overlooked the training of Slayers. "Were you a slayer?" "Did you catch any necromancers?" "What mastery level are you at?" The questions kept rolling in but Celian calmed them down. "Now, now, this isn't about me. You'll find that at tomorrow's presentation, where the student council will introduce you to all the professors you'll be meeting during your time here."
They spent studying the basics and the science behind the elemental magic. The classes were over for the day, and most of the students were coming out of the front gate. "I'll see you at 7 then." Jade waved at her, walking towards the two Merćedes, which pulled up. A tall man with a red suit and black sunglasses opened the door for him, and they drove away. Jackie noticed Sabrina waiting by the tree. Her blazer was in her hand and her sleeves rolled up. She saw the tattoo on her wrist. It was a pink diamond, the house of Carmen. Jackie was shocked. She was the daughter of headmaster Florence Carmen, whose family has been managing Snowmore Academy since its formation. Jackie knew every detail about the house, Carmen, since it was her desired school. That would mean Sabrina's father is on the Edmund's council, he judges the necromancers. The Carmen's family magic was Necromancy, a dangerous and rare magic. It was illegal to practice necromancy. The person, however, could study about the magic and get a job at the citadel or at the blue Bird mansion.
Jackie talked to her. She walked the few steps. "Hey Sabrina, I hope to see you at the conference as well. I'm going as my mother's date. She works at the hospital as a psychic." She was rambling on. Sabrina looked up from her phone. "I don't have a choice. My father is an investor." Just then, a red Lamborghini pulled up, and another girl stepped out. She had the same hair as Sabrina, but was shorter and curly. She was wearing a maxi dress. "Hey there, making friends already?" she smiled at Jackie taking off her sunglasses.
"Hi Josephine Carmen, her older and hotter sister." Sabrina looked like she wanted to jump in the gutter. "Jackie, her classmate." Sabrina was already walking towards the car. "Well, gotta run Jackie. Hope to see you soon." She waved with her manicured fingers and drove away. "Rich people are weird." Jackie muttered, walking towards the train station. She didn't want to miss it twice today.
