For a brief moment, the entire world comes to halt and falls silent, as if a curse engulfed the entire universe.
Alexios' eyes welled up with tears as he saw his mother's head being severed from her body.
His grief was so much to bear and only he knew how hard it was for him to control his emotions.
Alexios was in agony and shame over the fact that he was unable to save his mother,
He was ashamed of himself because before his eyes his mother died and she witnessed her kid imploring and wailing in front of others, and that was the last thing she ever dreamed of watching before her death.
She had always taught him not to beg from others or to bend before someone, but when she saw her kid begging, she died from disappointment.
The Soldiers mocked Alexios, "What did you think? We'll let that bitch go. Come on, boy, who falls for that. Anyway, you can join her in heaven and apologize for being a pussy?"
He raised his sword to chop Alexios' head and swung it with the speed of lightning, but somehow he missed Alexios' head; it shocked him because it was something unnatural to witness as he was drunk.
He rubbed his fingers over his eyelids and frowned his brows and looked again at Alexios' neck. But nothing changed. He finds his head still hanging around his neck.
His face turned pale in shock and slowly, he moved his head toward the other soldier and looked at him with a puzzled look on his face.
"You can't even do one thing right. Move aside. You're so drunk you can't even swing your sword properly." The other soldier sighed and pulled the sword from his hands and took a stance right beside Alexios' neck and raised both of his hands to chop his head.
"SLASH."
Again the sword is swung but again no blood was spilled, but this time it's not because the sword couldn't slash his head off but because Alexios had caught the sword mid-air with his bare hands.
The switching of the sword gave him enough time to counter and save his head.
"What the..." Before the soldier could finish his sentence, Alexios thrusted his dagger into his throat, causing him to collapse to the ground.
And slowly moved his head up with tears in his eyes full of rage and pain, and the aura around him got denser, as if some kind of spell was performed.
And suddenly the wind picked up speed, and the blue sky turned gray.
"THERE WILL BE STORMS! GET ON INSIDE" A soldier screamed outside the house and soon the sound of footsteps covered the whole area,
And after a few seconds, all the soldiers around the area moved inside Alexios's house to take shelter.
A poor coincidence
Alexios heard them coming into his house, but still he stood his ground with his knees completely destroyed, his head down and just rage pumping through his veins,
"AGGGHGHH" as he stood alone ready to die for the honor of his family, something happened to his body that made him scream out of pain as if he was a devil of hell.
His scream attracted the attention of the soldiers, and they all rushed to him, but by the time they arrived, Alexios had transformed into a different beast.
His eyes turned blue as if they were blue sapphires. His hair grew longer, and every wound on his body healed on its own; it was like he turned into someone else.
The blade he held in his hand sharpened and started to shine like it was a blade of blue light, watching him change. Everyone knew a storm was brewing. They knew in that very moment Alexios was more than just an average man; he was something beyond that.
Out of obliviousness, strange black flames engulfed him, making him appear much more menacing than before.
And lastly, he screamed, unleashing hell, and a white light flashed from his body, blinding everyone for a few seconds. When the light faded, they witnessed something they couldn't believe.
"It's him, it's him, the curse is genuine," one of the soldiers yelled in panic as he looked at his final form.
"No, it can't be,"
"NO! Just look at him. Do you still not believe? It's him?" troops were mystified and conversed with each other in fear.
"DIE!" Alexios yelled in an aggressive tone.
He slowly walked out of the dark with his eyes shining blue, his body was covered in a dark devilish armor with a nightingale symbol engraved on the chest.
In one hand, he wielded a sword with a nightingale shaped handle, while in the other,
He wielded a large axe that appeared to be the sharpest thing in the world.
The blades he held were so terrifying that it felt that it might even slay gods with just one blow and a fantastic bow tied with sets of arrows on his back.
The Soldiers were stunned and were trembling with fear. They were unsure whether to engage him or flee.
"Who... who are you?" a terrified soldier asked Alexios.
"I'm Alexios," he lifted his eyes up and replies as he blankly stares into them
"Or call me... DOOM"
As he finished his sentence, he slightly dragged his feet back and, with the speed of light, moved into the direction of the soldier who asked him, and in just a blink of an eye, his head was on the ground.
The soldiers had never seen a man move so quickly; it was like magic, dark magic.
They knew there was no escape from him. The only option they had was to either kill or die and, with a deep breath, they rhythmically took out their swords and charged at him together.
One of the soldiers who reached him first swung his sword from the top of Alexios's head, but he was too slow to behead Alexios and this was the moment Alexios made his first move; he quickly ducked under his arm and gently stroked his sword on his shoulder and the soldier was split in half.
Everyone in the room shivered as they watched him butcher a man so casually. They all glanced at one other, realizing they couldn't kill him and that the only way to save their lives was to flee.
Alexios looked at his mother one last time, and kneeled down and whispered in her ear, "I'm sorry mother,"
He slowly turned his face toward the soldiers who were just about to flee and looked at them, eyes full of pain and sorrow, and clenched his fists and rushed at them with all his might and...
WHOOSH!
He was up in the sky, ripping through every cloud, soaring like an eagle. At a certain height, he came to a halt and turned around, and begins to plummet back to the ground, and takes out his bow tied to his back and sets up two arrows at the same time.
Adjusts his bow slightly and fires them directly into the skulls of two soldiers.
And before the soldiers could fall to the ground, he lands smashing his powerful legs on the ground, making it crack.
Most of the soldiers were dead. Only one was left. He was shivering with fear and the fear of death was all over his face. His heart was beating so fast that it could be heard outside of his body.
"I didn't do anything. Please let me go!" the soldier pleaded as Alexios approached him with his axe in his hands, ready to exterminate him.
"Please let me go. I have a family," the soldier begged.
"They had family too, I had family too, and look what you did to them, killed them all, you killed them all, the men, the women, even the… children," Alexios voice cracks in sorrow as his breath gets heavy and eyes flows up with tears.
"I didn't do anything, I barely touched any of them, and I'm only a new soldier in the army. They gave me the instructions,"
"WHO GAVE YOU THE ORDERS?" as he hears it was someone else behind it and not just a random raid he burst in anger.
Soldier replies as his voice stutters, "Astrid...The King Astrid, the king of Yorkan."
"I will let you live, but convey this message to him… the death storm is coming for him." Alexios pulls his axe back from his neck and takes a deep breath and controls his anger and walks away.
