Synopsis
'Dear Diary, I just got whipped by father for rescuing a human child today. She was being ambushed by some hyenas and I thought to save her regardless of what father had warned me about staying far away from humans. Well I couldn't help it, she was cute.' Jake sat at his desk scribbling his day's adventures into his 'diary'. And when he thought back to to the human girl's reaction to being saved by another creature she's never seen before, a gentle smile occupied his lips. 'She really was cute'. -------------

Chapter 1 - Vanquish And Death

1906.

In the City of Alderion.

"The humans are starting to cause chaos in the outskirts of the city, killing vampires mercilessly and if we don't do anything to stop them, they are going to hunt down vampires to hundreds and later to tens, then later... to nothing. Their goal is to make our kinds' existence forgotten and buried.. Like we were never in this life to begin with..." A deep baritone voice echoed throughout one of the palace rooms, a cold edge to it.

"You're just going to sit down there and do nothing?!" The voice yelled this time.

There was a moment of silence as the man waited to be ordered by the man sitting gracefully and quietly on the priceless throne with an air of royalty around him. To a stranger, he might seem to be uninterested in what the man in front of him was saying. But actually, his brain was already doing some workout and trying to make out strategic plans as to what to do to solve the issue at hand, which if not solved, could turn to a calamity. A calamity that could destroy his kingdom which he has ruled for 42 years before his father died.. or was killed. A calamity that could bring the vampires to end and their existence would cease to exist. He had lost the love of his life in the hands of humans and he wouldn't let that happen to any of his loved ones again. And he had a son to protect. The future king of Alderion. His dear son, Lucas.

As he stared straight into his brother's eyes with his blood red eyes, King Darius's lips formed a dangerous smirk which irked the man whom he's never called 'brother' for years.

"Darius you–"

"Call for a meeting with the royal blooded Vampires tomorrow morning. Anyone who is absent for one reason or the other, would lose his two hands and whoever enters the royal council before me, loses a arm. The humans got away with the death of Sonia, my wife and I say enough is enough!! We are going to end this madness which the humans have started once and for all and this time, the humans are surely going down" King Darius said in one breath, his voice mixed with anger and rage, as his red eyes darkened. "For real". His nose twitched out of anger and his hands which were lying on the armrest of the throne tightened.

He's had enough of the humans and their problems with vampires. To hell he was letting them go this time.

Prince Frederick stared lazily at his brother as he adjusted his sitting position on and couldn't help but shake his head at what was going to be the situation if he executed whatever havoc wreaking plan which his head was hacking. But whatever it was, he surely knew it wasn't a good one. The humans were going to get what they are rooting for... Vanquish and Death.

Outside the royal council's door stood a young boy with blonde hair whose red eyes glistened in anger at what he just heard. The humans were killing vampires. Why? What did they do to be killed like chickens? His father, the king had always and strongfully warned him to stay clear off humans and he never really understood why he has to stay away from 'those slimy creatures' as his father usually referred to them as. But now he understood.

They were evil, truly slimy creatures which his father had likened them to. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. His red eyes darkened as he clenched his small fists tight. He hated them now. He hated them very much.

Lucas ran all the way back to his room, bumping into a guard who was making last minute checkup on the palace and slammed the door with a loud bang. Leaning on the door with his eyes tightly shut, he tried to catch his breath as he was still trying to make out what he just heard seconds ago. He never meant to eavesdrop on his father and uncle's conversations. No way. He was heading over to his father's room to get him to read him his favorite stories about monsters and demons which he loved so much as he hadn't come to his room to read him one, when he heard his uncle Fred yelling at his father with so much anger in his voice. He suddenly stopped to listen. Uncle Fred rarely raised his voice at anyone regardless of the situation or circumstance. But when he does, then the person gave him an ultimate reason to do so. He leaned over and placed his right ear on the royal council's mighty door and listened.

Lucas hoped none of the nosy servants and guards who wandered about would catch him listening... Or maybe eavesdropping on his father's conversation. He would surely be punished. He dreaded his father's spank so much, it always ended up burning his skin.

"...The humans are starting to cause chaos in the outskirts of the city killing vampires mercilessly and if...." Frederick's high-pitched baritone voice trailed off.

" Killing vampires mercilessly.."

"Killing vampires mercilessly.. "

"The humans are starting to....kill vampires mercilessly.." His uncle's anger spiked voice echoed in his head. What? The humans are what? Killing vampires? Why?

After a while, he sensed the silence on the other side of the room and wondered if his father had dozed off in between conversation with his uncle. Well, it was very much like his father to asleep in the middle of something which he had no interest in.

Like when was younger, and his father had almost dropped him down the stairs while rocking him to sleep because he was getting bored. If it wasn't for the timely intervention of Uncle Fred who was fortunately around at the time, his toddler self would have suffered a heavy blow. Not that he would have died or anything, as a pure blooded vampire, he was one of the strongest breed of the vampire race. But his very young body would have been wrecked considering the height of where his father stood. And another when he was—

"....The humans got away with the death of Sonia, my wife and I say enough is enough!! We are going to end this madness which the humans have started and this time, the humans are surely going down... For real" King Darius's calm and daring voice brought Lucas out of his thoughts.

"The humans got away with the death of Sonia, my wife..."

"Enough is enough!!..."

"This madness must end.."

"The humans are surely going down..."

"For real..."

Lucas's young mind was going in spirals as he was still trying to digest what he just heard. The humans.. the humans, they killed his mother. They killed his mother. Those slimy creatures were the cause of his mother's death. They killed mother.

Back in his room, young Lucas's eyes fell on a picture inside a frame lying on his study table. He walked steadily over to the table and slowly took the picture into his hands with so much care as if any little mistake, the framed picture would crash unto the ground, separating itself into tiny bits. He ran his little hand on the picture and a gentle smile appeared on his cute face, his two dimples giving much elegance to his already heaven to earth face.

"Mother" The smile on his face slowly faltered, knowing that this woman wasn't here because of those humans. His mother was sleeping forever because of those slimy creatures. He made a mental note to stay as far away from them as he possibly could and if he came across any of them, he would certainly tear them down.

The woman in the picture had a pale fair skin and a beautiful smile adorned her full lips which had no trace of lip stick or any form of makeup on her innocent looking face. Yet, she looked like the most beautiful woman in the world... She was. To Lucas. To king Darius. She was more than one in a million.

Even though Lucas was just a little boy then, he still had faint memories of his mother's ever sincere smile. That smile that cheered him up when he was bored and felt lonely. The beautiful voice which sang him lullabies every night. The soft and tender hands that lifted him up when tripped and fell. Those same hands that rocked him to sleep while gently patting his back. Those beautiful red orbs. Those were his mother's. His dear mother. A tear trickled down his eye and landed on the picture. He missed her. He missed her so much.

Lucas had put up a strong face in front of his father to make his father believe that he had gotten over his mother's death, but he didn't get over it. He never had. The baby inside of him was in pains, asking and seeking for his mother's love which he knew, would never come. Putting up a charade in front of everyone was one thing he had successfully managed to do, trying to fit in the word his father always told him' man up'. Even though he didn't know what that meant, he still acted like he was okay.

"Be a good boy, okay? I love you"

His mother's last words rang in his head.

Sonia. Lucas remembered his father repeatedly mutter her name once when he was dead drunk. Her death was still fresh and it came as a mighty blow to him. He couldn't believe that his wife was no longer with him. He seemed to have no hope left inside of him and decided to drink himself senseless. Uncle Fred acted as a supportive brother and helped his father out of the pit of emptiness he had thrown himself into.

Lucas sniffed and wipe his tears off with the sleeve of his royal shirt. He had had enough of crying over and over again over this. He must take revenge. He gazed down at the picture which was wet with his own tears and couldn't help but let out the whole river of tears which he had held in for so long. He fell to his knees, hugging the picture close to his chest and closed his eyes tightly in pain as he couldn't take it any longer.

He would kill. Destroy. Burn. Curse. Kidnap. Bury. Whatever it was going to take for him to get revenge for his mother, he would do it. The humans were truly going down for real. His cries were gradually surpassed by raindrops which had started outside the palace as tiny drops of showers, then got heavier the next minute.

After a while, Lucas slowly calmed down and wiped his tears with his hands as he sniffed his nose. Forget being a good boy, he would be the next bad guy in town.
