*At the Konoha Academy, sometime later.
Tora was in the middle of class, looking at ninjas who volunteered to join the new optional basic medical ninjutsu course. A course that Tora had accidentally pioneered when he mentioned that it would be good for at least 1 genin per rookie team to know at least the basics of medical ninjutsu. Tsunade who was talking to Shizune thinking about possible reforms to increase ninja survival rate thought it was a great idea.
Originally, she was only thinking about Chunin-level teams having a trained medical ninja, but she realized that it would be important to start early when it came to medical ninjutsu. Thus, she immediately experimented by creating an optional class that was open to the final 2 years of academy students. Of course, she made her main disciple Shizune, and her part-time disciple Tora, help with the curriculum and teaching.
Tora, an 11 year-old, questioned his involvement in the class due to his age. However, Tsunade countered by showing the notes he created when trying to learn medical ninjutsu and said that his notes would be very helpful in teaching untrained individuals how to learn medical ninjutsu properly. She even argued that they were actually the missing link in getting more ninja into medical ninjutsu as they helped break down the "visualization" barrier most ninja failed to cross. Apparently, before they could only visualize chakra "somehow" closing wounds and regenerating cells, now with his notes they could actually better understand how this process occurred.
What were in Tora's notes you ask that Tsunade believed would be so helpful for a beginner medical-nin? Well, to better explain it, you have to understand than in his previous life as Levin, Tora came from a medical family and was actually on the track to eventually enroll in medical school. At the time of his death, Tora was a 2nd-year nursing student and had learnt some of the basics of human anatomy.
This gave Tora a better idea of the mechanical and physiological aspects of the human body as compared to many medical-nin; who mainly focused on the chakra/jutsu aspect of medicine. If he had to guess, Tora probably had an advantage over everyone except Tsunade, Orochimaru, Kabuto, and Shizune in this field of anatomy due to his modern-era knowledge.
Thus when he was learning medical ninjutsu, Tora was seen as a prodigy as he could better visualize how he wanted his chakra to heal an injury.
For example, in his notes, he wrote down his basic knowledge of blood and muscles in an easy to understand way. Additionally, he was able to use this knowledge and apply it to medical ninjutsu theory.
[Blood Theory]
Within the Blood there are different tiny cells that help the body heal and protect itself.
Red Blood Cells: Workers who carry materials to different parts of the body for it to function normally and heal itself.
White Blood Cells: Soldiers who protect the body from infections, poisons, parasites, etc.
Platelets: Emergency responders who prevent blood loss.
[Resulting Application]: When doing basic medical ninjutsu, visualize the following: white blood cells fighting off any foreign bodies, platelets plugging up a wound to prevent blood loss, red blood cells carrying nutrients and materials to wounds so the body can heal itself. Once perfectly visualized, imagine the process at faster and faster rate.
[MOINA Muscle Template]
Understanding muscles in our body can be easier if we follow this template.
M- Muscle in question.
O- Origin, where does the muscle begin/start.
I- Insertion, where does the muscle attach/end.
N- Nerve, what nerve in our body is in charge of this muscle.
A- Action, what action does the muscle do when it is used.
[Resulting Application]: Whenever there are severed or injured muscles. We can use MOINA to better understand where the muscles should be connected to, what they do, and what nerve needs to be connected to them.
With notes like this in hand, Tora was able to create a way to better explain medical ninjutsu to aspiring medical-nin.
Moving on to the class itself, earlier at the start, many were surprised to see someone they recognized and was in their age-range teaching them. However, some of the notable clan ninja knew that Tora had learnt under Tsunade herself and did not question it. Unfortunately, many of the other students were insulted that one of their former classmates were teaching them. This led to Tora, without any expression, slashing his wrist and letting the blood spray for a bit before immediately healing it to gain credibility. No one questioned Tora after that happened.
The class was currently trying to practice both their chakra control and visualization of basic medical ninjutsu. Tora looked around and observed the notable ninja he knew.
The most notable of which was Tenten, who was close to graduating. She who idolized Tsunade growing up was excited to learn medical ninjutsu. In the initial story she was never able to get the hang of it, and for a time fell into depression.
Her difficulty in using medical ninjutsu in the story actually confused Tora. This was because fuinjutsu she uses to create and store weapons require a decent amount of chakra control as well though not as much as medical-ninjutsu. Thus, he didn't buy the reason given in the story, or likely they misunderstood the reason Tenten wasn't able to use medical ninjutsu.
Tora himself tried to learn basic fuinjutsu in his spare time (He wanted to make explosive tags, so he could combine it with his gravity jutsu). It was there he confirmed that it still required a good amount of chakra control to do and that Tenten should have at least enough chakra control to learn basic medical ninjutsu with no issue.
It was only now, seeing her finally perform medical ninjutsu right now that Tora realized that it was likely the visualization aspect that she was having difficulty in. Tora smiled and was glad that his notes was helping someone realize their potential and get closer to their dreams. Tora assessed that she would likely max-out as an advanced medical ninjutsu user in conjunction with her current weapon oriented fighting style.
Aside from Tenten, Tora noticed Sakura and Ino were 1 and 2 in the class when it came to learning medical ninjutsu. This was likely due to them treating this seriously due to the bet they had lost and the fact they seemed to be competing with each other. Tora reminded himself to inform Lady Tsunade that Sakura and Ino were good candidates for her to take as her main disciples. Tora didn't consider himself a main disciple since he was only learning the parts of medical ninjutsu that were applicable to his raidboss build. He was very inadequate when it came to other fields such as poisons, medical herbs, and diseases to reach what he considered as the level of a main disciple.
Next there was Hinata, who volunteered to join the class due to her byakugan which would be helpful in locating fractures and broken bones. Tora also hired Naruto as his model for this class by bribing him with Ramen so that he wouldn't just have to keep cutting himself which would get annoying. It was also safer since even if someone screwed up, the kyubi would heal Naruto if he suffered a serious injury. Hinata also had good potential as a medical-nin due to her kekkei genkai and new found confidence in herself.
Finally, the last of the notable shinobi were the ones Tora was most glad to see. It was a sleeping Shikamaru and quiet Shino. You see, for the kunoichi in the academy, they had to take additional classes such as flower arrangement to meet the requirements for graduation. Now with the new class, they could choose to take the basic medical ninjutsu class in place of one of the other classes they had to take. This led to many of the members of his class being girls which made Tora feel socially awkward.
That's why he was glad when Shino joined voluntarily out of curiosity and when Shikamaru joined "voluntarily" after Tora convinced Shikamaru's mother Yoshino it was a good idea when he saw her come to the academy by chance. Though Tora quickly gauged they did not have a high ceiling with medical jutsu, Tora believed that it was better they were able to at least perform the basics, rather than not know what to do in the middle of an emergency.
After the class ended, he went to the hokage office to report his B-class mission's success and his findings from the medical class. Once he arrived, he found Tsunade to be strangely irritated at him and Shizune was looking at him awkwardly with a blushed face.
Tora was confused and thought that maybe it was because he only stopped by the hokage office to drop off his things in the locker he had there and didn't immediately report to her the success of his B-class mission.
Finishing his report, he looked at Tsunade and Shizune oddly.
"Hokage-sama, is there something wrong?" Tora asked politely.
Tsunade looked at him and smiled scarily.
"Oh nothing, I was just surprised that at such a young age, you are not only a fast-learner at medical ninjutsu, you are also studying the teachings of my colleague Jiraiya."
Tora's expression froze as he had a feeling where this conversation was going.
Tsunade pointed at a note on the table which Tora picked up and read.
"Genin Tora has exhibited great power and skill in accomplishing his mission. He also has great taste in literature and I have personally approved his early readings of Jiraiya-sama's teachings that he keeps with him at all times in his ninja bag. He only needs to improve in his ability to hide his items and create hidden stashes."
Tora began to sweat nervously as he looked up from the note and saw Tsunade holding up his collector's edition of Make out: Paradise; she was gripping the book with enough strength that her hand was shaking.
"Ah, Hokage-sama. That's for my big brother, I borrowed that from the third's library." Tora tried and failed to sound innocent.
"Mhm, it seems you need more lessons genin Tora. I am happy to do so as your teacher. It would pain me to know that you would follow in the footsteps of Jiraiya." This time Tsunade's fingers gripped the book so hard it created holes.
'Damn... I'll get you for this Kakashi!' Tora inwardly yelled.

Author's Corner
Hey guys!
In this chapter we explored Tora's skill in medical ninjustu and the subtle effect it had in how the Konoha academy operated. This means all genin teams will likely have at least one ninja who knows first aid and basic medical ninjutsu.
Aside from this, we won't delve too much into Tora's past life backstory since were in Naruto world now, not earth.
In the next chapter, we will finally tackle the the beginning of the main story. Honestly I didn't expect the set-up to take so long but were finally here. Were going to see Tora's full updated status and how much he progressed over the years (Spoiler, he's going to make some noise in the chunin exam arc).
