Chapter 5 - To the Rescue

Lovo felt bad for Strider. He gave the worst weapon he made to a skeleton that didn't even have the requirements to use it. He was sure that it would do less damage the lower the strength of the wielded was. 'Ah well. All I have left is making weapons for Julki'

"If he's going to be my future general I need to be precise on weapons. I'm just going to keep it simple. Longsword and shield. Basic but a classic."

This time he wanted to show off and use his skill as much as possible. He grabbed another arm, fingers, rib cage and other miscellaneous bones.

This time making the shield first. He mimicked what he did before for Bulwark's shield, but this time he shaped it better. Realizing some mistakes from before he fixed what he could. He added more bones to elongate it while making it thinner, but just as dense.

[Bone Kite Shield: Protection 15

2% chance to block 100% damage.

Weapon Grade: D+]

"YES!" Lovo jumped in joy reading it! "Finally! It seems like the skill gives me insight into problems that I have. I wonder if the higher the skill the more I'll be able to see fractures of the bones. Kinda what blacksmiths do with metal. Maybe I should require a blacksmith first to copy what they do to metal that I can do to bones."

He smiled and personally walked to Julki and hand him his shield. He seemed eager to receive the shield and nearly snatched it out of Lovo's hands.

"Hey. Easy big guy. It's not going anywhere."

He turned back to the table and noticed his bone pile was nearly has as small.

"I've been using a lot of bones. I should go hunting some feral animals after I make this weapon. Would be good to get some experience in combat. WAIT! Shit I need to make a weapon for myself as well!"

He started to scramble through his bone pile. He had an idea for a sword but needed the right bones. He spent nearly half an hour looking for the right pieces.

"Finally. I really like this sword idea, granted it's based off an eleven year old game about slaying dragons with your voice. Weird game.

He started shaping the two arms into two separate swords. He took two smaller bones to make a cross guard on each. He continued to make the blade and sharpened it before he added the finger bones. He positioned them at an angle that when the sword would slash it would leave a jagged wound. It reminded him of shark teeth. Once they have you pulling yourself out is just worse.

[ Serrated Bone Sword: Damage 14

3% chance to inflict bleed.

Bleed: Target takes additional 4 points of damage every second for 5 seconds.

Weapon Grade: D+] x2

"This is great! Julki come here! This is for you."

Julki and Lovo both looked at their swords in awe. It wasn't a C grade weapon, but Lovo was proud of his work and Julki, from what he could tell, was happy with what he got.

Lovo turned back around and decided against making armor just yet. He wanted to test not only his skills but his minions skills as well. Plus he wasn't entirely sure how to even make armor for them.

He lead his small group outside the main castle and looked around the courtyard. It was completely overgrown by nature. The land surrounding the castle but still inside the walls were huge. He guess it was about 8-9 acres of lands around. Though repairing the land, building houses and farms will take quite some time. There was still the giant holes in the walls to look into also. Just doing a quick look around not trying to waste anymore time. He found 2 buildings, with one of them having a connected roof that covered a blacksmiths forge. The other building seemed to be a tavern with both an upstairs for room and down stairs for even more rooms and storage. Not a bad start he thought.

He lead his skeletons to a huge hole in the wall. Peering through he could just see dense forest. Thankfully with his Night Sight he could see in the dark.

Turn to Julki he spoke. " I have two things. Can you keep track of how to get back here?"

The Blood Skeleton nodded its head.

"Also do you know how many more hours till sunrise?"

Julki held up 4 skeletal fingers.

"Huh. You are smarter then I thought. That's good."

Julki just stood there with his skull facing him. For a second Lovo thought he was smiling. Granted it was always showing it's teeth.

"Okay we move out. Julki you cover the rear, Bulwark and I will lead. Atlas stay in the middle and Strider…do you're best to hit something. Don't worry if you don't."

To an outsider they would think Lovo lost his mind. Talking to his skeleton minions like they are real people. They would find it weird that the skeletons seemed to understand him and act like a real party of adventurers.

With his shield in his right side Bulwark was ready for any attack to come to his master. Lovo had his sword in one hand and a red ball of energy in his left. This was his blood drain skill. It wasn't draining any mana as it wasn't activated, only at the ready. Strider had his bow at the ready. Julki was also at a readied position with his shield out and sword perpendicular to it ready to attack as a counter. Atlas on the other hand seemed to have been a warrior before he was a skeleton. He nonchalantly had the two handed Falchion across its shoulders.

The group walked for little over half an hour before they heard wrestling in the woods.

Lovo was on edge as the group never saw any wild life but they could sense something watching them.

Before they could do anything a small group of goblins ran out from the foliage.

"Ahhh!!"

"Help us!"

"They are eating us!"

"We can't die like this!"

The 7 goblins kept running while looking back. They barely noticed Lovo and company till they ran into them. He held up his hand to stop the skeletons from attacking. The goblins all stopped in their tracks. They started to shake in fear of the skeletons and Lovo.

"A-ah-ah Vam-vam-Vampire!"

All but one goblin scattered and ran around the group. The one that didn't was to frighten to move. Before he could say anything the bushes behind them moved again and the monster that was chasing the goblins.

It was nearly 10ft long with eight limbs. It had a snake like body, but the head and limbs of a wolf. It's limbs were each two feet apart. Seeing it Lovo thought it stood like a centaur, but this creature seemed to be an amalgamation of monsters.

Description: Once an abomination created in a lab. After it's escape it killed, grew and multiplied. It developed a hunger for goblins and other small monsters. This creature prefers to fill their prey up with poison while holding them in its clutches before it unhinges its jaw to swallow them whole. ]

Lovo had a grin on his face.

'Finally something to fight! Although I hold Karik wasn't the one to make these. He would be an ecoterrorist if he did'

"Attack!" He ordered his skeletons.

Systematically his skeletons moved. Bulwark took the front and charged into the creature. The Wolfaconda's lower jaw split in two revealing its razor sharp teeth. Two of them seemed jagged and pointed outward in either side. It coiled back and launched itself at Bulwark. Thankfully it had the shield to protect it. The creatures mouth wrapped around the shield and started to crush it in its jaw. Lovo watched from a distance and even saw the creatures venom in affect. The two jagged teeth seemed to pulsate and a viscous green liquid oozed out of them and down Bulwark shield.

'Well it's a good thing we are all immune to poison.'

As this was happening an arrow wizzed by missing the monsters head by a good foot. To make up for Striders missed attack, Atlas and Julki made their move. Atlas took the right flank while Julki took the left. As they moved Bulwark dropped its mace, used two hands on its shield and tried to force its shield down the creatures mouth. Trying to prevent it from disengaging and attacking its brethren.

The creature seemed to be howling and hissing at the same time as its mouth became stuck around the shield. Seeing the opportunity Julki quickly stepped back from a swing from the creatures claw and swung its sword upward slashing at its belly. Simultaneously Atlas was on the other side swing it's Falchion from above its head and straight down on one of its limbs. With a single swing it nearly cutting it off.

The creature writhed with pain and shifted its body. Still stuck on Bulwarks shield it wrapped itself around him and started to squeeze. Bulwark couldn't feel pain and still lashed out at the creature by punching it in the nose. Strider knocked another arrow and let it loose. Once again the arrow wizzed by the monster but almost hit Atlas. Granted this time it was only off it's mark by half a foot. Julki seemed to order a command to the skeletons. He darted back where he was to be between Lovo and the monster while Atlas went behind the creature. Strider even repositioned himself. Bulwark on the other hand stopped punching. Instead he pushed the shield with his right hand and used his left to grab nose trying to hold it still.

While this was happening Lovo was examining the goblin.

'That's kinda sad. Hopefully I can convince these guys to join me. I can give them a good home. If they work for me that is.'

While Lovo was day dreaming Bulwark was slowly being crushed. Julki swing it's sword at its limbs trying to free Bulwark. Stride let loose another arrow. Still missing but now only a couple inches away. Atlas was a good 20ft away from the fight directly behind the creature and started sprinting back. Bulwark and Julki worked together to hold the creature still. Julki dropped its weapons and grabbed the creature by its fangs and pulled while Bulwark used both hands to pushed its shield.

Lovo and the goblin watched in awe. Time seems to slow as they watched the events unfold.

Atlas was sprinting to the fight and quickly jumped into the air. As it flew it took its Falchion and swung. Aiming for the Wolfacondas neck! With Julki and Bulwark holding the creature down Atlas had a clear line of sight to attack.

*Shing*

The falchion cleanly sliced through the creatures neck decapitating it! It's head fell to the ground and it's body went limp. Julki helped Bulwark untangle itself from the creature dead grasp.
