"Zoé! Come down here! You got a letter from the palace!" My mother's voice broke into my sleep like a knife, "Zoé! Come on! Get up and get down here!" I look grudgingly at my clock on my nightstand, '6:45 AM' it read. I smashed my face into my pillow and groaned loudly, the one time I actually get to sleep in and my mother decided to wake me up with horrible news. "Zoééé!!!!" My mother's voice breaks in again from downstairs, "Zoééééé!!!" I smashed my head underneath my pillow in protest but it was no use, I could still hear my mother's voice from underneath my pillow. I didn't want to read the stupid letter from the palace. I don't even know why we still have a royal family when the surface has had a democracy for centuries now. What does the royal family even do; besides gorge themselves on seafood and choke on the rishes from the ocean? They don't even bother with the "clean up" project like they promised our people. While they live in cleaner waters, others are dying from the waste. "Zoééé!!!!!!" my mother's voice boomed closer to my room now. Irritated, I finally sit up in bed and rub my eyes. Unhappy with what I have to read from them; I get out of bed and walk towards my door. As soon as I opened it, my bright cheeked mother almost came face first into the side of the door. She stepped back to let me open it all the way and beamed up at me. "Zoé!" she smiled and the little wrinkles around her eyes got heavier, and her bight green eyes shimmered in the morning sun. I couldn't help but feel bad for being in a bad mood, it wasn't her fault. I smiled back at her, "Good morning mother." I said calmly, "Must I read this letter at this very moment?" I smiled bigger as to hide the anger I felt. She smiled even bigger and clasped her hands together, "Of course Zoé! Please!? For my sake?" she gave me big puppy dog eye and I sighed in defeat and hung my head, "Alright, let's go then." I waved my hand for her to go downstairs and she started to run down like a child on the loose. "Come Zoé! Hurry! Open it up, please open it up!" I walk down the stairs into the kitchen after my mother. My father was sitting at the table with a newspaper in hand. I glanced over at him and he looked up, "Good morning kiddo." he said, "Good morning father." I recited back. He glanced over and looked at my mother lovingly, "Dear, I know you're excited, but, please refrain yourself a bit." His blue eyes sparkled looking at her. "But honey!" she stumped her foot in protest, "This is so exciting I can't just refrain myself!" my father put the paper down on the table carefully and grabbed my mother's hand, "Please dear, Zoé isn't too happy about this, if this is good news then you can do the whole nine yards ok? But for now, we do not know the context of this letter." He eyed the letter in my mothers hands and looked back at her with concern. My mother lowered her head and nodded, "Ok... here Zoé." she handed me the small white letter shyly. The letter had a large blueish-green seal that was stamped with the letter 'R' on it. She looked like a child that was in trouble for lying and kept her head down. 'Raen'.... this is a letter from the royal family.... I took a deep breath and broke the seal open. Inside was a light sea green paper, "Dear Ms. Zoé Remi Monroe" I read aloud gripping the paper harder, my full name... that's never a good sign.... "You are hear by ordered to report to the palace for orientation on Monday, September 1st at 8:45 A.M." I read the letter getting more confused as I kept going. "This is an official visit, you are required to wear proper school attire. Oceanina High School's uniform, including all school supplies and tools you may need." 'you may need?' I thought miserably. "This is to be inspected upon entering the palaces gates, refusal to do so will alert all palace guards to use physical force." 'Physical force!? Are you serious!?' "No food or drinks as these will be provided kindly from the royal family. Extra guests are prohibited. Wondering off the directed path is prohibited. It will be your honor to visit the royal palace." 'YOUR HONOR!?' I gripped the paper getting angrier and angrier. "We will see you in a few days. Your pass to enter the palace is enclosed in this letter, you must show this to the guards upon entry. Sincerely, Kevin Trent Receptionist To King Raen". My blood began to boil, 'It will be MY HONOR!?' Repeating the context of the letter I was furious! I ripped the letter to shreds and threw it into the garage. My mother gasped at my outburst as it was uncommon for me to lose myself with anger, "Zoé!" she clenched her shirt anxiously. I gritted my teeth, "Sorry mother, but I do not wish to follow this order." I was about to walk out of the kitchen when my father grips my wrist gently, "Zoé," he said calmly turning me to face him, "you must." Tears started to form in my eyes and my vision started to blur, deep, long sobs betrayed me and my father's warm unbrace relieved my cries. I hugged him and buried my face in his chest. My mother sat quietly at the table and covered her mouth as she cried too. "This is not fair!" I sobbed, "Why is it that I'm getting forced into this!?" my father patted my head and let me cry. "Why must I go?" My voice breaking, I rubbed my face harder into my father's chest. "There," my father's soft voice cooed, "there sweetie." After what seems like forever, I pulled away from my father. Rubbing my swollen eyes, I dropped my head in defeat. "It will be alright honey?" My mother's voice, almost like a mouse squeaked as she gripped his shoulder, "Yes dear, it will be alright." He patted my mother's hand to comfort her now. "Knowing Zoé, the purpose of this sudden orientation is due to her intelligence no doubt." He glanced over at me smiling small, "To most likely tutor the prince's and princess." I looked at his saddened expression and nodded. Trying to comfort myself I hugged my arms tightly and walked upstairs to my room without another word or glance at my parents. They let me go in peace. I opened my door and stepped inside. I shut it softly and slipped onto the floor. Crying once more. Thinking about having to be in the same place as any of the royal family made me shutter. I couldn't believe I was getting forced to teach such stupid people. Gripping my knees harder, 'This needs to change.' I thought bitterly, 'To be forced to do something against your will...' I became angrier and angrier, 'the royal family must fall.'
