THIS IS NOT A POEM UPDATE
Hi Peeps and pupils from as you can see this is not a poem I got some good news today and I wanted to share it because I feel comfortable to do so this is personal news you bet everything I read about is personal so that's nothing new
So I have chronic juvenile idiopathic arthritis JIA for short before I was told it was juvenile rheumatoid arthritis anyway
I've had it since I was 5 because on my 5th birthday I fell into a ditch and cracked open my knee and my arthritis activated because apparently was a dormant for 5 years
it wasn't until I was seven that I was diagnosed and my health physical health deteriorated I would wake up crying and in pain every morning
my joints started to lock up it would hurt to walk I hated the cold and when it rains because it would make me hurt worse
I was in the wheelchair most of the time and sometimes on crutches then I took a break from the hospital because my kidneys were failing my hair was falling out because of the meds i was takeing
My doctor is treated me like a test subject poking and prodding taking pictures of me and allowing other people that were not my doctor in the room to examine me
I was still in elementary school and I had to take trips to Chapel Hill every two weeks and I lived 3 hours away from there
my parents couldn't do it anymore so they took me on a break from hospitals and medicine my mom tried to treat me holistically
it wasn't until 2019 that I finally saw a doctor again by then my bones had already locked up and deformed some
I was in the wheelchair 90% of the time. 2019 is when the pandemic hit I was just starting my medicine and I was doing good and I was gaining the ability to walk without assistance again
but when the lockdown happened i was unable to get the monthly infusions that was set up for me and I had a recession and I haven't been able to walk since 2019
it's 2023 I did get a new doctor and I am currently on medicine that keeps me from feeling pain and it's keeping my arthritis in check
I haven't had a flare up in a few years but my knees are now stuck in a 90° angle the only way I would be able to walk again is with surgery on my knees and possibly hip replacement surgery too so on to the good news
I talked to my doctor about my double knee replacement surgery and i was told I'll be able to get surgery as earliest at September 21st and that's only 6 months and 2 weeks away i wanted to share the good news with someone
Throughout that whole journey writing has kept me sane and made it possible for me to be here long enough to hear these wonderful news so I'm grateful for writing and all the people that I had to support me thank you
