Chapter 25 - Let's Embarrass This Bumpkin

Ezio watched the fight with an amused smile on his face. The disciples of the sects tend to be arrogant, and they held those from cities in low regard. But there were geniuses in slums, and there was trash in palaces. It is true that because of the teachings and legacy of the sects, the disciples were usually stronger. Even Ezio felt that it was boring to watch those village boys fight, but there were always exceptions.

Ezio could discern from the punch and footwork Lin Zhenkang had displayed that he was strong. His foundation was solid, and the technique he was using wasn't shabby at all. 'He either found an inheritance ground or has a master. Either way, showing his worth in front of leaders of the three sects is foolish. Because the three sects will not let him grow up.'

Of course, Ezio was aware of the politics of the sects. He knew even Abbot wasn't a saint and had lots of blood on his hand. Abbot tried to convince him to be more brutal and decisive when he taught Ezio in the past.

He watched the circus with a smile because there was a show to watch.

Disciples from three sects were watching with enmity or killing intent. How dare a pest from a city hurt one of them. Even though the relationship between the three sects wasn't on good terms, their pride was on the line when one of them got hurt.

On the other hand, Elders and Leaders were calculating. If the boy on stage found an inheritance ground, they would of course seize it to check if it was dangerous to people. If he had a master, they would have to wait and see how strong this master was.

The leader of the Mountain Lynx Sect gestured to one of the elders subtly. Elder understood his meanings and sent a disciple. It was a young maiden with blond hair and forest green eyes. She was petite and cute.

"Greetings, brother. I am Alina Lynx. It is a pleasure to exchange with you." The girls said cutely. She was the granddaughter of the Leader of the Sect. "My cultivation is Qi Force Opening Realm, Third Layer. I hope Brother Lin wouldn't mind exchanging with me."

"It is fine. Please start." Lin Zhenkang said with a smile. He didn't mind the cultivation of his opponents. He could beat those 2 layers stronger than him, let alone one layer. When he was in the First Layer of Qi Force Opening Realm, his master had him battle with a rogue cultivator at the peak of it, Fourth Layer Qi Force Opening Realm. He still won.

Alina pulled out a short sword and ran to her opponent. When she was a meter away from Lin Zhenkang, her sword started to crack with lightning, and with a dash, she was in front of the wild boy. She swung her sword horizontally to Lin Zhenkang's waist. He would be in two pieces if the sword were to hit.

"Signium with lightning, probably giving proficiency in sword and lightning. Must be from the Third Curtain." Ezio thought in his heart. Discerning a Signium's proficiencies and powers was difficult, but not impossible. If the opponent had more than one Signium, it would be harder to distinguish the Signiums and abilities they bestow. But when there was only one, those with battle instincts could even deduce the Signium Skill.

After all, in a battle of life and death, taking a precaution against a surprise attack was a line separating the two.

Lin Zhenkang jumped back and fished out his weapon. It was a wooden rod, but the material wasn't anything normal. There was a yellow-green sheen surrounding the weapon.

"Quasi-Earl Grade!" One of the elders sprang to his feet.

All the elders and disciples lost their minds with the revelation of the weapon's grade. Leaders were calculating the risks. Should they forcefully seize it or wait? Having a high-tier weapon could mean two things. Either it was found on inheritance ground, or his master is really doting on him and gifted the rod.

The flow of the fight changed with the revelation of the Quasi-Earl Grade rod. Lin Zhenkang was already strong, but with a stronger weapon, he could force Alina to corner. With no other choice, Alina activated her Signium.

"Thunder Splitter!"

It was indeed from the Third Curtain, as Ezio had predicted. It was a sword cutting through thunder clouds. When Signium was activated, it was much easier to deduce its powers.

With the activation of Signium, Alina managed to push back Lin Zhenkang. She was not in an advantageous position, but at least she wasn't losing anymore. They exchanged a few more moves, but in the end, Alina lost. Because it was just a duel, she didn't use any talisman.

"Brother Lin is strong. You didn't even activate your Signium." Alina said sweetly. "Thank you for teaching me."

"Sister Alina went easy on me." Lin Zhenkang didn't say much and turned to the last sect.

The Crimson Fire Sect was different from the other two. Cleansing Buddhist Sect was virtuous on the cover. They were following the Buddhist teaching and wouldn't act rampantly.

The Mountain Lynx Sect was a family sect of the Lynx Family. They were in charge of the sect since its creation. They could also be counted as righteous.

But Crimson Fire Sect was a hell hole. The disciples could kill each other in the sect grounds for resources. The strong would eat the weak, and elders would encourage it. They were a lawless and fearless bunch. They would act reservedly when they encountered disciples of the other two sects, but the mortals of cities were nothing but trash to them.

Leader of the Crimson Fire Sect, Cane Cotton nodded to one of the youths, and a burly teen jumped on the stage. He was a head taller than Lin Zhenkang.

"Trash with a little bit of skill." burly youth said and took out a mace. "Show your Signium pest, or Corry Cotton, I will tear you in pieces before you have a chance."

"Please guide me." Lin Zhenkang's smile never disappeared even when he was faced with unruly Cotton. He took his stand and didn't show his Signium.

"Hmmph." Corry Cotton snorted and activated his Signium. It was a burning mace. It was from the Third Curtain as well.

"Heir of the Crimson Fire Sect is a true genius. I have long heard his name." The leader of the Lynx Sect said.

"Yeah! He is my son after all!" The leader of the Crimson Fire Sect admitted openly. He hated false modesty, and his son was a genius. For his first Signium, he had awakened from the Third Curtain intermediate tier.

Corry Cotton ran like a wild boar and swung his giant mace to Lin Zhenkang's slim body. Lin Zhenkang swiftly dodged and brought his rod to the top of Corry Cotton's head.

Corry Cotton snickered and grabbed the rod on top of his head.

A sinister smile blossomed on Lin Zhenkang's face and the rod that was about to be grabbed shrunk all of a sudden. When it was at the level of Corry Cotton's neck, Lin Zhenkang pushed the rod with great force and hit his opponent's neck.

Corry Cotton fell back while choking voices were coming from his throat. His face was red with suffocation and humiliation. After a few seconds, he was able to climb back on his feet and his ferocious eyes were looking at Lin Zhenkang like the latter kidnapped his wife.

"Mace of Wrath!"

Corry Cotton couldn't care less about the norms of the duels at the moment. He was burning with wrath and humiliation. But in fact, this was what the leaders wanted to see most. Although Cory activated a talisman to increase his strength, they didn't care at all.

An illusory mace, ten times bigger than his own embodied the mace in Corry Cotton's hand. With a swing as if the doomsday arrived at the stage, and a fire was raining from the sky.

Lin Zhenkang jumped back in the air and lifted his rod. The rod stretched taller and taller as he was lifting it. Lin Zhenkang brought it down when it was ten meters long and hit Corry Cotton's shoulder with great force. It would break all of his bones if it were to hit, but a solid shield of fire appeared between the rod and shoulder.

"Using a talisman over and over again, how noble of you!" Lin Zhenkang snickered and the rod shrunk back. "You have lost!"

"Who said so?!" Corry Cotton was mad and wouldn't accept defeat. A talisman appeared in his hand and he threw it skillfully to Lin Zhenkang. Leaders of the three sects jumped to their feet, but it was too late. An attack talisman was a rare, life-saving treasure. In normal cases, even activating the Signium Skill was a move frowned upon in friendly spars. Using an attack talisman, on the other hand, was taboo. No sect would like to humiliate their names like that.

Before the talisman could reach Lin Zhenkang though, another shield appeared and the talisman was kept away, but an explosion still rocked the stage. If it were to hit, it would blow Lin Zhenkang to pieces. Thankfully, he had a high-tier talisman to protect himself. But it didn't mean he would let the other party go just because he wasn't hurt.

For the first time, the smile on Lin Zhenkang's face disappeared. He vanished from where he was standing and appeared in front of Corry Cotton.

"Signium Skill: Monkey King's Junk!"

The rod on Lin Zhenkang's hand multiplied and hit every part of Corry Cotton, and sent him flying like a beaten dog, onto the table his father was sitting on.
