The dragons in this world were one of the most ancient species with knowledge, history and strength surpassing all others. It was said that they were the first beings to be created by gods who had intelligence and awareness. There were many strong dragons among their rank which even had the noble titles of god slayers. They were the peak of nobility and strength in this world as a race.
The Drakensberg mountain was the base of operations of the dragons and evena breeding ground of the dragons. Most of the powerful dragons had nested this mountain and even the royal palace of the dragons was here. the whole mountain was also a grave for the dragons. Though others would be disgusted to live in a graveyard but the dragons thought otherwise beacause of their closeness to mane they had a ritual to thro the dead carcas of their kin into the lava of the mountain. This would in turn burn the body and release the mana of the dead. Thid practice which has continued on for decades had increased the mana density of the Drakensberg mountain by 50x times of other areas and had strengthened the young dragons each generation.
The whole mountain had a rune etched into it and was built on and of the oldest and largest dragon's dead body. It would absorb the surrounding mana and then process the mana through the runes to make it easier for the dragons to absorb. The runes would also make sure that the flora of the area was stable as it would maintain a constant flow of mana to the whole ground of the mountain enriching the plants. additionally the runes would also work as a concentration center for the eggs of dragons as the eggs were put into the centre of a circle of mana then the runes in the surroundings would constantly supply large amount of mana to the egg ensuring the healthy growth of the next generations of dragons.
In one of the chambers of the royal palace a young girl was kneeling while carrying her younger baby brother and reporting about a particular incident. If Alex was here he would easily recognize this girl as Kai whom he had met in the forest.
"Princess is there any particular reason for you to meet the king. I am sure you're well aware that his majesty has warned us not to disturb him from his slumber." asked one of the royal guards to Kai.
"I am well aware kind sir but I beleive my father would not mind coming out of his slumber if the news is as important as this." Kai answerd.
The royal guard entered the chamber and after a few minuted returned.
"His majesty seeks your presence Princess." he announced and escorted Kai to the royal chamber where only a giant dragon was seated. His eyes had a mild golden glow to them and a pair of red scaled wings could be seen on his back. The visible scars on the dragon told his tales of battles and wars, his presence covering the whole mountain and announcing of his early awakening from his slumber. The royal guard left after leaving Kai inside. Kai looked at the runes surrounding the dragon king and the form large reptilian eyes of her father with pride. This dragon was Cezar Pendragon, the current Dragon king and Kai's father.
The large dragon then with a wave of his wings transformed into a more human form. Now in front of Kai stood a young man in his thirties who had a noble air to his movement and had a firm but gently gaze on her and her brother. She felt his gaze going through her and her brother searching for any harm done to them. After not finding any harm on his beloved children the dragon king who was just in his trousers which he had summoned through magic during transformation summoned his royal attire.
"Though I am happy to see you fine my dear child but I must expect the news to be as interesting as you say for you to disturb my slumber. For if it isn't I'll be forced to punish you for disturbing our sacred ritual."lied Cezar. He was far too soft hearted to punish his cotton padded jacket but that didn't mean he would not scare her from time to time to discipline her.
"I understand your concerns father, but I beleive this breakthrough of mine is better if you discover it as a surprise would you like to have a spar with me father." Kai asked with a confidence which made it impossible for Cezar to ignore her request. Though it also made Cezar curious as to why his daughter was so confident.
"I accept!" Cezar said as he and Kai both took a combat stance.
