Chapter 81 - Memories can be forgotten

"What is it?". Old sage uttered loudly. Alvah responded, " We've got to think of a better way to tell her this".

" What better way?" old sage was sounding frustrated.

" Breakfast" they both said in unison.

After a few minutes of waiting, Vida finally showed up.

"There you are sweet... I mean Vida" Old sage was not the type to put up an act in situations.

Alvah looked in his direction.

"Greetings grandpa. How're you feeling this morning?". she was keen in salutations.

" Seeing Alvah awake makes it even better" He giggled and sounded great like he should.

"cough, cough, what!" Alvah couldn't help and broke out. She smirked at him.

"Please don't do that". Alvah entreated him. " Have breakfast. I'm not hungry". He said to her.

" Yes you are. Come over to this table were we are dining together". She was walking over to him. Old sage stared at the event.

" Why are you talking like that?. Just eat your food okay". He didn't mean to sound rude but at this point, he felt awkward.

"Okay". She just never got their hint. When she got to the table she took a sit beside him. He couldn't stop looking at Old sage with a look of cry for help.

Vida, "here" She offered a spoonful of rice to Alvah. Although he looked at her for more than a minute she refused to look at him indicating that she didn't care whatsoever.

He ate the food slowly off the spoon. He immediately felt like spitting it out.

"How is it?. Have more" She offered him.

" Vida!" old sage called her. " It's okay grandpa he'll eat some" she insisted ." No, I need help in the kitchen" Old sage came to the rescue.

" What is that?" She asked him with a raised brow. "The... food... is quite cold... you could help me with that" he stuttered

" You could, You could help me with that" old sage repeated.

" Why not!". She stood up patting Alvah on the shoulder. "I'll be back".

Old sage quickly ran towards him as he noticed that he went on mute after the spoon of rice.

"Are you okay? Alvah, Alvah" . he got no reply.

" It's still hot grandpa. Except you want me to burn it?" she spoke from the kitchen.

" No don't do that" . Verifying what is going on. " Let's have breakfast" . Old sages tone had become more serious, the look on his face wasn't quite friendly as it was.

Alvah gulped down the cup of water as he kept thinking deeply. "Vida, I need to talk to you". Old sage began

"About what?". " About Alvah" he didn't waver. She glanced at Alvah for a brief moment, "what's it with him? "

"Alvah woke up last night. I told him about your feelings towards him". He was clear and direct.

" And..." she put on a light smile. "Good thing you didn't blush" he spoke aside the main deal but returned " You can't be with Alvah"

well it wasn't so hard he thought within

"Why?" Rather than looking at old sage and requesting for an answer she looked at Alvah instead. Alvah choked on air.

"Because..." old sage snapped his finger grabbing her attention. "He's got a woman".

Heartbreak!! She could have pretended that she didn't hear that but it kept resounding in her head she could feel her head spinning in circles.

"We tried to tell you in the most heartfelt way possible as we know you've been weak lately. Please don't be offen..."

She left the room without a word. " What other way could we have said it?" Alvah felt bad for her. " I'll talk to her"

"Don't bother, she'll be okay In time" Old sage said to not get him bothered. "No she won't, it would only amass. I guess that's why she's already this depressed".

Vida couldn't help but cry lightly at the balcony. She was hot at this moment and her eyes hurt much but she couldn't help it.

"You've never fallen in love before have you?". She heard Alvah's voice in an instant she felt like she should murder him like she wishes to Quinlan but she knows her limits.

"You kinda make me laugh because... " he sat next to her.

" You act this tough yet a single heartbreak put you in this condition" he laughed at her.

She stood up about to leave to where she wouldn't feel his presence when she felt his hand. He held her wrist to get up which when she realized, was irritated.

"Don't touch me!" " Don't say that" He fired back.

She spoke furiously, " You should go home now. We're done with training, you're alive, I don't want to see your face".

" That's when you'll be hurt the most" . He hit the spot. " I could've left yesterday and you would have regretted it even more" He let go of her wrist.

There was a brief silence in the atmosphere when someone hugged her lightly.

She looked at Alvah who took her in for a hug. 'Why is he doing such a thing?' she queried

"You need this" He was referring to the hug. This words warmed her heart. She reciprocated without delay. She couldn't deny that she felt safe in his arms.

He released her slowly looking in her eyes that were glued to the ground. "You've been soft all along you just covered it up with anger and putting on a fierce face because you don't want people to know who you are".

" You want someone to take care of you but you can't find that person. And that person is not me". He was distinct.

" You want to be with me, same as she wants to be with me. You helped to solve my problem same as she. You want to be in my arms same as she. But I fell for her not you".

Does he want this half heart to be in pieces before he stops. Vida was utterly broken and his words hurt but were true.

She mustered the courage to ask, "What's her name?"

He replied, "Zillah" She didn't understand the name but didn't ask questions.

"You did all this for her?" She was astonished by him. " Yes! I'm an infernal, she's a celestial".

She giggled softly, " how did that happen?, are the both of you forbidden?".

" Sort of. Honestly I was like you. I never did like the girl but she did like me from the first day she saw me, I don't know what came over her". He remembered briefly their moments.

"I just, I did a lot of things to her back then, they weren't nice so it's only fair if I do this for her".

" But this is a temporal solution" Vida said. " I know, it wouldn't have gotten any better. It's best if I make up for when I'm gone".

" So I'm back to being single". Tears had already formed up in her eyes hearing her self saying that.

'After me is the right one for you, don't stress" Alvah said to her. " But what if it's not?" she poured out.

" You can make wise decisions for yourself Vida Old sage would be there too, and your brother". He winked at her.

She chuckled. " They're both older, you go to them for advice and warning"

" You're talking like you're leaving today". She realized that he was actually leaving. "You are?"

" Yes. I'm saying my good bye words and then I'll bid old sage good bye and I'll be gone".

" I'll... " she was about to tell him that she would miss him dearly but she was cut by his words " don't miss me" . And she asked "Why?"

He said to her, " If you ever see me and If I act like I don't know you don't take it personally I don't forget that easily".

" Memories can't be forgotten". She blatantly spoke

" Memories can be forgotten?, Alvah questioned ,Maybe for you. Even though it's a bad thing it's still a memory"

" Or a trauma?"

She included. " Yes" he accepted.
