Chapter 72 - I Quit

"You might as well never disturb me when I'm eating, put that in the deal"... she said walking back to resume eating her diner.

Old sage smiled nervously. He doesn't want to see his granddaughter get beaten up and he doesn't want to interfere because Alvah will surely turn his anger on him.

They all dispersed to their room. Old sage and her appetite had gone. He cleared the table before going to bed.

"Old sage..." Alvah said his name, thinking wildly.

....

"This is the moment for Alvah to prove me wrong, if he doesn't, I will definitely make him regret coming here"... vida had her own thoughts.

....

"Alvah wouldn't take it easy on her, he'll definitely kill her. I have to talk to him". He left his room to Alvah's room.

....

"He dared to learn from me, with no doubt I am a great teacher and student. But I hope he is better than the others".

Honestly, Vida wishes that Alvah isn't as useless as the rest of the men she had come across in her life.

....

"If old sage knocks on this door, I may end up not killing vida tomorrow".

He heard a knock on his door.

He looked at the door with a narrowed brow.

He took in a deep breath hoping it wasn't old sage at the door. When he opened it, it was old sage.

"Alvah".... he called his name calmly.

"No, I'm not listening to you".

He knew exactly why he was here.

"Just listen"....

"You deliberately put on that face, so I would feel pitiful which surprisingly I'm falling for it....., Why?, he asked himself".

"Because there is pain in my eye"...

And he spoke the truth. He really doesn't want to see her get hurt.

He looked at old sage in the eye and he could tell.

"She's my granddaughter and for years I haven't seen her and now she is here I can't watch her get hurt".

"I know she didn't do you anything good since you got here but.... At least do not kill her".

"I wouldn't kill her..." he officially got that off his chest.

"But you see I'm supposed to go home by now but I've been here for months".

"And I understand, after the duel I will make sure that she teaches you, even though she wins you".

He smiled at his statement.

Vida would never have a chance to defeat him. She clearly doesn't know who she is dealing with.

....

Anytime the thought of how her grandfather would die she feels like she should just die before him because she might not be able to live normally especially if he is murdered.

And when useless suitors come her way, she wants to kill them rather than reject them because they are only a waste if they survive.

....

"Go easy on her", he whispered to Alvah before leaving his side.

He went to Vida's side..., "are you sure you want to do this?".

She didn't reply. She gave Alvah a death glare which it would have been him giving to her.

Old sage really got into his mind. He figured out that the way old sage cared for her is the same way Ghazan cares for him and Zillah.

He wouldn't lose to her but make her quit.

Old sage flamed a stick, when the fire was off the fight would begin.

They both stared at each other intensely.

As soon as the stick was out, old sage had closed his eyes as he didn't want to see how it all begins.

Few seconds of closing his eyes and not hearing a sound, he wondered what happened, he slowly opened it and they were both gone.

"Where are they?"... he asked himself looking around and the whole place was empty.

...

Vida was screaming loudly, "What the hell are you doing to me?,..." she struggled to breathe but managed to say this word.

"Say you quit, and I'll stop immediately".

"You... you're Cheating".

she yelled the word cheating.

"It's part of my powers now speak to me,... I quit".

She didn't want to lose this easily but she couldn't hold it in, instead she chose the pain.

Alvah didn't like what she was doing. He only needed her to quit that's all, he doesn't want to hurt her.

Although he would with pleasure if old sage agrees to it.

He searched for them everywhere but he couldn't find them.

He stopped the torture on her and walked closer.

She looked furious although she was in immense pain.

She is strong but then it made things hard to end. She was on her knees so when he was closer he crouched to her.

She had an unstable breath.

He spoke lowly, "is there a reason why you don't want to teach me?"....

"It's not like I'm staying here forever. If you didn't want to see my face well you are now and even for a longer time".

She wasn't listening at all, all she was thinking is that, she will be this defeated if she ever challenges Quilan.

She was going insane thanks to everyday thinking and devicing.

Alvah who was quite the whole time looking at her with no word coming from her.

Before he could react, he saw fire coming towards him but he was too late to evade her attack. She flamed his neck with her flaming hand.

He groaned and held her hand. She was bewildered. He kicked her down and binded her with his chains.

She couldn't move. He gave her the infernal Torture. This time her tears were seen on the ground.

She was crying for the fact that she was this weak. How on earth would she protect her grandpa and herself?.

She thought of holding in the pain, but when she tried to, the pain would only worsen.

She was about to quit when she heard her name. It was her grandfather.

He could only stand to watch. He had no idea what was happening and he couldn't interfere.

She had no other choice, she murmured the words... "I quit".

Alvah stopped instantly. His eyes had been watching her closely just to hear that.

He looked at old sage and said...

"I win"
