'Okay...' Emily thought to herself as she moved into the crawling position. 'Steady...' She continued as she began to push on the ground, pushing her upper body towards her lower body. 'Here... We... Go...' She thought as she moved into a standing position.
"Good job!" Hannah said with a smile.
'Whoa!' She thought as she lost balance and grabbed onto the leg of a small table next to her. She looked at Hannah who had jolted at the first sign of her falling and prepared to catch her. 'Finally...' She thought to herself. 'It took forever for me to get to this point...' Emily added.
'So, after almost a year of being in this world, I can finally walk...' She continued. 'And I still haven't seen my parents...' She added. "I do wonder where they are...' She thought.
"Alright! Can you take a step toward me?" Hannah asked as she extended her hands toward Emily. Emily released one hand from the table and outstretched it toward Hannah, then hesitantly took a step, slowly releasing her grip on the other hand. "You're doing great!" Hannah said with a shine in her eyes.
Emily took another step as she tried to keep balance, then put her other hand toward Hannah. 'Just another couple steps, then I'll be close enough to balance myself...' Emily thought as she focused on Hannah's hands. She slowly took a couple of steps toward her. Upon her fourth step, she grabbed Hannah's hands and loosened the amount of strength she was using to hold herself up.
Emily sighed. 'I did it...' She thought as she looked at Hannah who is smiling in excitement.
"Amazing job!" She said as she picked up Emily. Emily nodded.
"More." Emily said blandly.
"No, not yet, you need to rest." Hannah said somewhat strictly. "After all, those were your first steps!" She said with a bright expression as she stood up.
'I want to practice more...' Emily thought to herself annoyedly. "More." She said more insistently. Hannah shook her head.
"I can't have you hurting yourself." She said.
"Oh..." Emily mumbled. 'I guess that's fair... If I wound up hurting myself, then it'd be her head.' She thought.
"Well, even if that is the case, maybe you can walk some more later, once you've rested a bit." Hannah said as she gave Emily a gentle look. As she looked at Emily, a door opened.
"Let me see her." A man spoke as he breathed heavily.
"M-my lord, you're covered in blood..." Hannah said as she froze in place.
"I know." He said as Emily looked over at the man with her cold eyes. He began walking over to her.
'Based on what Hannah said, this is my... Dad...?' Emily thought as she looked at the man. He has golden yellow hair and green eyes. He is wearing some kind of padding and his face is partially covered in blood. 'Can't say this is a good first impression...' She thought to herself.
Hannah adjusted her hold of Emily a bit to make her more visible to the man. "I'm sorry for my rudeness, Master Elmyirr..." She said as she looked at the ground. The man looked at Emily with an analytical gaze and Emily did the same back.
"Why is she looking at me like that?" He asked.
'Maybe it's the blood... Or I just look like this...' Emily thought.
"Sh-she looks at everything like that, Master Elmyirr..." Hannah spoke nervously. He nodded as he looked at her.
'Why is he covered in blood? Is nobody going to ask this question?' Emily wondered.
"She should be more expressive." He stated as he turned his gaze to Hannah.
"Of course, my lord..." She said. He nodded, then left. After he left, Hannah sighed.
"Miss Emily, that was your father..." She said as she looked at Emily and adjusted her position to be more comfortable to carry. "Don't tell him, but he scares me..." She added as she gave a forced smile.
"Scare...?" Emily asked.
"Ah, don't mind that... In fact, please forget I said anything..." She said as she walked over to the crib. "For now, why don't you take a nap?" She asked as she set Emily down in the crib.
