'Ring ring!'
Yang Jingshen nearly jumped out of his skin when his phone suddenly rang, breaking the stillness in the room. It was as if the previous illusion of absolute silence and solitude never existed in the first place.
The loud ringing sound seemed to connect him once again back to reality. In his heart, Yang Jingshen had a peculiar feeling– a little unwilling, but also, a little happy. However, once he saw the caller ID, the expression in his eyes darkened for a moment before turning back to normal.
The heart felt very odd– a little uncanny, a little funny, and a little unhappy, but also a little joyful. What it actually lacked was a surprise. It was as if he was expecting this call– or rather, his heart was expecting it.
