The lake water was slowing rising up above the windows and windshield. Rising? No he was sinking, it felt all too real. He watched many movies where this would happen in high speed car chases or dramatic accidents on rainy nights but he never thought this would happen to him. Seeing the filthy water cloud over the glass, hearing the water fill all the empty and open space in the truck, it all woke him up from the shock. He unbuckled the seat belt and tried rolling down the window but it was jammed shut due to the water pressure pressing it down.
Looking for something or anything to break the window he rummaged through the containers of the truck only to find empty food wrappers and old receipts of drivers past. Banging his fist a few times on the top of the truck he stomped that's when he heard 'KerSploosh' "Shit!" The water was getting inside, the realization of his life ticking away was setting in.
The ham radio clicked on once more "Hey Leon, Mr.Smith is at the new house already and so is some new furniture as well, we asked about the load you're carrying and he said 'it has already arrived at it's destination.' Whatever that means so unless you're where he wanted it or still on your way, take your time but your lunch break i-" it cut off. He immediately grabbed the speaker "I'M SINKING ON THE INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE HELP ME! SEND HELP! ANYTHING!" The radio was already starting to submerge. The water was up to his stomach uncomfortably cold as well as murky and climbing. He looked at the speaker, ripped it off, then tried hitting the window on his side with the metal clip. Smacking it repeatedly but with little to no avail he dropped it in the water. He pressed the horn praying that those above would hear it and try to help him but it only let off a muffled honk before the water got to it silencing him completely.
Up to his neck now, he was on his mental last legs. He struck the window with his elbows, then took a deep breath and laid back into the water lifting his legs to break the window with his feet. Unfortunately the water slowed his attempts making it too slow to break it. Rising back up he took multiple breaths, in his deepest hearts of hearts he knew these would be his last.
