Chapter 20 - Uninvited guest 3

Klaus walking back from Arsha's house had a lot on his mind. He discovered the reason Arsha hadn't showed up for two days was because she had been sick. She laid on her bed pale and weak looking. He hated the condition she was in and pitied her for the most part but bore in mind that he had terrible news for her. It just had to be said and so he went on with it.

When he told Arsha the news, she broke down in tears. He knew this would make her sad. He stayed with her for a while and finally said his goodbye to her before leaving to return home.

As he walked home, he realized he wasn't as hurt as he was prior to leaving the house. The wounds had mostly healed up to some extent. But to avoid suspicions, he decided to leave the bandages on.

It would be horrific and a total pain in the behind if he was to explain to his mother how he had healed up so fast. In the coming days when things settled in wherever they were going, his mother would most likely take him to a healer.

He knew this because he knew the kind of person is mother was. Unlike his dad who was calm and collected in all situations as it seemed to be, his mother was different. She was always his father's jewel and even though he rarely sees them showing affection towards each other like some other couples he had seen at the field do, he saw the look in their eyes.

They did indeed care for one another and for that singular reason, he was grateful for the life he was living.

When he thought about his life while on the walk home, he realized there wasn't much that he didn't have. He realized all the while he had just been a child, who whined and complained about every single things.

His parents were nice to him and provided him with all he needed although not all he wanted. He had never really seen them go out to work before but somehow, they managed just fine. And by no means we're they at the bottom of the barrel. For the community they lived in, their status there in could be considered well above average. Yet, he wanted more and complained a lot. He resolved within himself that all that will change. But sadly, the change was going to happen somewhere far away from where he knew as his real home.

He looked up to the sky and that was when he noticed the night cloud was particularly darker and looked closer than usual.

"Even the universe knows something had gone wrong" Klaus said.

He decided to take another route home, the long route. This was his own way of delaying the inevitable. He just wanted to breath the air of the settlement and take in everything one last time.

The havoc and destruction caused by the blood wolves was yet to fully be rectified. Although most of the damages done to the houses had been fixed by people with earth abilities and other forms of abilities that could help, the hard minerals used for the construction on the walls of buildings were mostly abandoned.

These rocks had few people who actually had the ability or mechanism to control the elements in it. So the people mostly stuck to moulding and rebuilding with earth and with their abilities they were able to shape and smoothen it as they liked.

Klaus decided to avoid most of the places where people still mourned their dead and noises emanated from. He took a lonely long path home. But even with his intention to make the journey long as possible, he could see his house up ahead.

"Is that smoke?" Klaus questioned. Since he was by himself, he was left to answer that for himself.

He looked at the sky and traced the smoke to his house. All along the cloud he saw was actual smoke and the smoke had been coming from his house. He wasted no time in picking up the pace as he ran straight for his house. But while running, he realized there still was a bit of healing that needed to be done as the pain from his torn flesh communicated.

Just at the entrance of his house, he could hear noises and screams coming from up. And as he was about to rush in, he saw a figure come crashing down from the window above.

*Thud*

Immediately, Klaus rushed over to where the figure landed and found a dead human wearing a half broken mask that let out spacks with blood spewing out of his mouth. Then as he looked around he realized there were more bodies around with weapons and they all wore black gears with an oni mask covering their faces. He looked up to the window where the figure had fallen from and that was when he gasped in realization.

"It's dad and mum's room!!" ..... Klaus said in realization and immediately bolted into the house. He ran for the stairs panicking and hoping that nothing bad had happened yet.

"Dad!!" Klaus shouted as he saw Mr Zen who was facing a masked man about to be stabbed from behind by another figure in a mask.

"Klaus?!!" Mr Zen said as he realized whose voice it was. Normally, he should have been glad that his son was still alive or perhaps hadn't been taken away as he thought. But hearing his voice now made him feel a different emotion.

He didn't want Klaus any where near where the fighting was happen but unfortunately, it was too late. Immediately, Klaus rushed over and not even thinking, stomped his foot hard on the ground and threw out a fist.

*Swiiishh!!*

[Phantom fist strike]

The figure with the sword aiming to stab Mr Zen was pushed back by an invincible force and staggered. The figure immediately turned his attention to Klaus and sprinted towards him. But Mr Zen grabbed him by the neck from the back after he had finished dealing with the one he was facing.

Mr Zen with almost no effort flung the man to the wall and with enough force behind the throw shattered him as his bones could be heard breaking on impact with the wall.

The man dropped down to the floor with his blood smeared on the wall. The figure laid still not moving after that.

"That sword has weakened me considerably. I have to find a way out of here" Mr Zen said as he snapped the neck of another masked figure. Now on his face where he had been stabbed was a white glowing line that sizzled continuously like it was burning his skin.

"It won't heal. Just where did he get such weapon from?" Mr Zen thought as he could feel the pain from that slight cut wearing him down by the minute. It expanded in size and continued to glow fiercer on his face, the same could be said for his stomach where there was also a cut.

He turned around and could see that the room had been half destroyed. There were holes all over the walls.

The leader of the attacker apparently wasn't in the room again. But more of the attackers crawled in from all angles of the house.

They were now completely surrounded by the attackers. And things were about to get worse as he could feel something different.
