Opening the door to the classroom, I walked in and studied the atmosphere that I could almost "feel".
You see, although my eyes had been sewn shut, there was a experimental device behind each of them that used the vibrations around me, both physical and sound vibrations, to "envision" an area, and then projected this image into my brain.
I closely "felt" the movements and demeanors of everyone in the class, quickly figuring out the mechanism the class ticked on.
I then used these feelings to project an image in my mind, which mapped out the classroom for me.
In the front of the class was the popular group, the people who knew the most about AHLM's. (A/N: Yes, in the future, nerds will be the popular ones...)
Then, there were the okay students with okay ranks, most of them were sitting in the middle rows, talking quietly with their friends.
Finally, there were the loners in the back, who were the most unique group.
Depending on who you picked out, there would be some delinquents, some introverts, and some students that could rival those in the popular group, but just decided to spend all their time studying, apparent by how they were studying right now.
As I finished studying everyone through my mental "map" I couldn't help but form a surprised expression on my face, as I noticed that there was actually someone I knew in this class.
Quickly walking to the back of the room, I sat down next to a girl, one of the "studying loner" types.
Currently, she was listening to something on her headphones and was typing furiously on her computer, so I didn't dare disturb her.
Having been in this situation many times, I just waited.
Class started, and the girl was still typing, not paying attention to anything that the teacher was saying.
...
Class was over, and most of the other students and the teacher had left.
I was still waiting patiently by the side of the small loli like girl.
As I didn't have a class until after lunch time, I just continued to wait with her.
Finally, at about the time for lunch, she pulled her headphones off.
"Seeing" this, I greeted her.
"Finally out of your trance now, aren't ya?"
"Shut up Dawn, I just had to finish something quickly, and it's not like you won't benefit from it either."
"Okay, if you say so."
"..."
"You're not gonna ask me a question like, "How are you here?" or something like that?"
"Of course not, you're smart enough to be here, and you're my age. It's pretty obvious why you're here. Also, the boss wouldn't just send only 1 person to complete this job."
"Yeah, yeah, so impressive, but, I do have a question, "Why are you taking this class?""
"Cause the boss told me to, I guess she wants a place where we can exchange information or something like that."
"Ah."
Both of us stayed silent for a few seconds, before switching the topic.
"So, what was today's class about?"
"Just some random information that you already know, here are my notes if you want them."
I handed her my notes before getting up and starting to walk away.
After all, due to living so many years without my eyesight, my other 4 senses and a 6th sense had been refined to the extremes, and I had developed the skill to remember anything I heard once, being one of these new benefits.
Just as I was about to walk to the door, my colleague's voice stopped me.
"W-wait!"
"What is it?"
"U-uhm... can I sit with you for lunch?"
"..."
"Really?"
"I d-don't have anyone e-else..."
I could almost "hear" her fidgeting from here.
"Fine."
"Yay! Thank you so much!" She exclaimed.
"But we're gonna be sitting with another person."
Don't ask me how I knew this, but she tilted her head.
"Who? I don't believe that any of the others are participating in this job."
"Ah, no, it's just a friend of mine, I think you'll get along well with her."
"Well, if you say so!"
Turning back to her usual happy self, she started packing up her equipment, as, at this point, I couldn't even call it a "computer" any more.
After she finished, she quickly ran to my side, and we started walking to the cafeteria together.
"I'm famished!" She shouted, whilst stretching her arms out in the air.
I quickly covered her body from the view of other students in the hallway, as I knew that she had just showed a lot of skin just then.
I berated her quietly, knowing full well what she had done, as this had happened many times before, even when I was living with her.
"Don't just show skin like that! You're a girl! What would happen if some guy had bad thoughts about you? You're too physically weak! And I can't be there to cover for you if anything happens."
"You're not my dad, Dawn." She replied, in a moody teenager like tone.
"I basically am."
"No you're not."
"Then, who was the one that washed all your laundry, cooked all your meals, and gave you all their money for three years?"
"..."
"Yeah, I thought so."
...
After grabbing our lunches from the "machine", we both walked out of the school building and went to the courtyard where I had met with Raea this morning.
Sitting under the exact same tree, we waited.
Well, I waited, while Loli Girl was complaining the whole time about how hungry she was.
Honestly, I didn't even know her name, as she had never shared it.
Actually, in the whole troupe, I was the only one that used my actual name.
They all used code names, like, "Exo", here.
Well, setting that aside, I "looked up" as I felt Raea getting close from her presence.
Turning towards her direction, I waved her over.
She waved back, and ran over.
Sitting down on my other side, she sighed.
"Ugh! My first two classes sucked! How were yours?"
"Well, I only had one, AHLM, and it wasn't that bad."
"Huh, that's easy for you to say with your perfect memory."
She then started unpacking her own lunch, as she brought lunch from home instead of buying it here at the school.
Seeing this, both me and Exo started eating our own lunches.
It was only at this moment that Raea realized that there was another person here, as she heard the sounds of two pairs of chopsticks being cracked apart, instead of just one.
"Oh, who are you?"
"She's a friend from when I was living in the country." I told Raea.
"Well, hi! My name's Astraea, what's yours?"
Putting out her hand, Exo did the same and they shook hands.
"The name's Nora. It's nice to meet you!"
"It's nice to meet you too!"
Hearing their happy greetings, I couldn't help but smile.
We enjoyed the rest of our lunch together.
