Cesar finally fell asleep but his sleep was not a peaceful one, throughout the entire time he was getting flashbacks of the incident he faced last night in his dreams.
The sight of Mr Richardson pouring hot soup over Amelia and the shouts of his sister and mother echoed in his head.
The dream made Cesar restless, he moved his hand and legs more rapidly, in his dream he was still as helpless as he was when the man was holding him down. His back was soaked in sweat as he tried to get close to his sister in the dream and help her, she was still ten, she didn't deserve anything like that to happen to her.
He moved his head in the left and right direction restlessly, suddenly the alarm clock started to ring and Cesar instantly woke up from his sleep the dream shattering as soon as the sound of the alarm clock pierced through his dream.
Cesar took a deep breath after he woke up from his bad dream and covered his face before mumbling, "Thank God it was just a bad dream."
As soon as he touched his face, he realised that he was sweating crazily even his shirt was smelling, he turned his head and looked at the alarm clock—— it was six-thirty in the morning.
' There is still time for school' he thought as he stood up from his bed and went to the bathroom for a shower.
Ella woke up five minutes later after Cesar, she slowly moved her arm and gently placed the pillow under Amelia's head.
After she was done placing Amelia's head over the pillow, she stood up from the bed, folded her blanket and came out of the room to start with her household chores and get ready for her job, today she will try to look for a part-time job as well.
That debt was better to pay as soon as she could.
When she came out of the room, she walked to the bathroom and pulled the door's handle but it didn't open.
At first, she thought that the door was stuck, it wouldn't be the first time after all and she tugged on it, Cesar was taking his clothes off inside when he heard the sound of someone tugging the door and helplessly responded," I am in here taking bath, the door is not stuck mom. "
Ella realised that her son was inside the bathroom and sheepishly let go of the handle, " Sorry about that honey, I thought it was stuck."
Cesar knew that his mother had to get ready for her job, she worked in the paper mill but apart from that she also worked as a cleaner in a restaurant and asked, " I was about to but if you want to bath first then it's fine I will bath later."
"No! No it's ok I am fine you take your bath, I am not in a hurry…you can finish bathing and until then I will finish preparing breakfast," said Ella.
"Ok Mum as you say," Cesar replied.
Ella turned around and walked towards the room when a foul scent wafted into her nostrils, she paused and looked at the room where they went through that dreadful incident and stiffened. Last night, Cesar has wiped the floor but he didn't use the disinfectant and thus, the room smelled —— she sucked in a breath before turning her head and shouted, "Cesar! can you give me the mop and bucket full of water? Don't forget the disinfectant honey, I need to clean that room, without it the room will continue to smell like a junkyard."
There was only one bucket in the house, call it what you want but their family was in a situation where they couldn't even think of using their money on things without which they can manage.
Cesar needed the bucket for a bath but didn't even think twice and instantly handed the mop and his bucket filled with water.
Ella thanked her son and took the mop and the bucket back to that room slightly distracted, while Cesar went inside the bathroom and then looked at the obstacle that was in front of him—— There was only a bathing mug there without a bucket, he stared at the mug and then the mug stared back at him. The two continued with their staring match until Cesar rolled his eyes and filled the water in the bathing mug directly from the tap.
There was no other choice for him, he had to do this because if he didn't hurry then he would be late for his school.
While Ella was wiping the floor, she remembered that Cesar slept hungry last night, she was worried that her son could go to school with an empty stomach, so she decided to cook something special for breakfast for Cesar so that he would feel delighted and have a good day.
She quickly wiped the floor and threw the dirty water outside of the house.
Cesar finished with his bath, went back to his room and took out his school uniform from the shelve and wore it, then he looked for his shoes under the bed, after he found his shoes he crouched down to wear them.
His shoes were torn to the point that they looked like they were worn by someone in the nineties, even his toes were visible from the holes in the shoes.
Cesar was embarrassed to wear shoes like these whenever he wore this pair of shoes to his school, his classmates would make fun of him. He was the poorest among his classmates, the black sheep among the white sheep, no matter how much he tried to fit in with them, he couldn't do so—— with his washed uniform, second-hand books and torn shoes no one wanted to befriend him.
But he knew the condition of his home, they had a debt to pay. There was no way, he would be able to buy a new pair of shoes and instead of worrying his mother, taking the insults of his classmates was easy.
