Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - The Empire Of Luminosity

"So, have we come to an agreement?" a voice queried, "This is about your plan on how to solve the dark entity crisis?" confirmed another, scepticism laced within their voice. "The plan is a bit extreme, however it seems like the fastest way to solve this infestation." consented another, a grin appeared on its face.

"It seems like we have arrived at a consensus, thus I shall send commission all Task forces with the task of carrying out the operation. They will not have a lot of time before the remnants of the dark forces sense us once they arrive on their allocated planet. Ensure you emphasise the importance of speed, if all goes as planned, we might be able to eradicate the last of the dark species.

"Let us finally rid ourselves of these parasites. Glory to the Empire!" ordained a deep voice. Everyone present directed their gaze towards the entity sitting upon the largest chair at the head of the table, they looked upon the entity with respect as they cried, "Glory to the Empire!".

They say an enemy of an enemy is a friend, but is that always true? Sometimes looks can be deceiving, lies can be disguised as the truth, not all is what it seems. In times of need who will you rely on? Everyone needs a hero. Time is running out.

A cold sweat ran down Takami's forehead as he tossed and turned upon his bed. His eyes opened slowly as he sat upright on his bed, he stared at his bag as he called out, "Yuki". "What's up kid?" asked Yuki. "Why do dark entities possess humans?" questioned Takami, "Those of the dark race can no longer use their original form so they instead possess humans. They also feed on them by devouring their lifespan, but this is only the case for hostile dark entities; there is always a non-violent solution." answered Yuki.

A pained expression enveloped Takami's face, "Why can't they just leave us alone?". No response came from Yuki as he starred at Takami. "If I were able to wield dark energy I could take those dark entities on." stated Takami. "I can bring you to someone who can teach you." replied Yuki, "So, for now, get some rest".

"Lets go tomorrow." said Takami. Yuki, in response, nodded his head as Takami lied down in his bed and thought back to his fight with the possessed man. 'This is probably happening all over the world... I have to stop this somehow!' . As fatigue consumed Takami, he closed his eyes and he drifted asleep peacefully.

9th September - 2058 - Early in the Morning

********************************************

Rays of light seeped through the blinds and slashed at Takami's face, smartly hitting his eyes in an attempt to force him awake. He groaned in displeasure as he groggily rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and walked over to his bathroom, which was located down the hallway from his room, washed his eyes and then brushed his teeth. Then he pulled out his phone in order to check what time it was; to his dismay the text on his phone read out 6:30 am, 'That's why I feel so tired... It's better for me to leave before anyone else wakes up...' he thought.

After taking a shower and getting dressed in an appropriate fashion; a grey pair of jeans, a navy-blue T-shirt with a black cap and a pair of black shades, a suggestion made by Yuki in order to hide Takami's eyes when he activated [Void Eyes].

Takami scaled down the flight of stairs and then strode towards the kitchen and made some breakfast; a plate of rice with sausages and a glass of orange juice. After washing up the plates he took a pair of spare house keys and slide them into the left pocket of his jeans.

Equipping himself with a pair of old trainers, which Takami had chose to wear due to the undeniable fact that they might get dyed with blood like his previous pair as he didn't want to waste another good pair of trainers, that was something he was sure about, he left the house and closed the metal gate.

Yuki gave Takami directions to the person's abode who was supposed to help him learn to manipulate dark energy, Takami leisurely walked towards the centre of Tokyo, the bright morning sun shined upon the streets which were chock full of people busily getting from point A to point B.

Takami, who had equipped the black sunglasses, had recalled a memory of what Yuki had told him yesterday. In order for Takami to disable the pseudo version of the [Void Eyes] technique, Yuki had told him to "visualise sending the dark energy towards your core". Takami pondered whether reversing the actions would allow him to activate the [Void Eyes] technique.

Visualising the 'dark energy' which was supposedly held within his the dark energy core which gathered in his abdomen he attempted to move it towards his eyes. He moved the dark energy, an action which tired him greatly, throughout his arties towards his brain where his eyes were located. Then he visualised enveloping his eyes with dark energy, he closed his eyes and then opened them. His vision was clearer than usual, he took off his prescription sunglasses to find out his vision was crystal clear!

A scene from the battle re-emerged from the boy's memory, the third kick of the possessed man had de-equipped his glasses, at that point in time Takami had not payed attention to it due to his vision being crystal clear. He realised that his pseudo version of the [Void Eyes] technique must have improved his eye sight.

"Your pseudo [Void Eyes] Technique improves your eye sight and allows you to slow down time by overloading the electrical impulses sent to your brain through your optical nerve, due to the increased sensitivity of your sensory neurones located inside of your retina, in order to allow your brain to process data faster. This can only be achieved by focusing more dark energy within your eyes but will cause splitting headaches and temporary blindness if you use it for too long. Trust me, I have first hand experience with the draw backs of the real [Void Eyes] technique and since you use an incomplete version of the technique the drawbacks could be more severe." stated Yuki in Takami's mind.

Thanking Yuki Takami searched for a store to buy some regular sunglasses ,as using his current pair of prescription sunglasses would cause his vision to be blurry, carefully directing his gaze downwards when purchasing the pair from the cashier and then equipped the pair of sunglasses. Little did Takami know, the dark energy within his core was slowly depleting.

'Back on track' Takami thought, walking through the forest of people whilst engaging in idle conversation with Yuki. Thud. "Sorry!" apologised Takami, he turned around and bowed, there was a middle aged women, a black, violent, aura was emitted from her body along with the distinct irony smell of blood. Takami grimaced as he quickly looked up towards the women's eyes, they were black reminiscent of an endless void of death. Starring into her soulless orbs, Takami was entranced and thought for the first time, 'Black is such cold and violent colour.' , a bead of cold sweat dripped down his face and dropped on the ground.

"Keep on moving kid, just move, now!" ordered Yuki. The women nodded and walked off into the crowd of people, seemingly continuing her normal daily routine. Takami starred at her back which was slowly retreating into the crowd, his legs started to automatically move towards her, "Kid! Stop, what are you doing? Leave her be, you are not in a position to help others as of current!" a voice full of reason was completely ignored by Takami.

Following the women through the crowd, she took a right turn into an alley, Takami following close behind her. After three minutes of constant turns and twists, the seemingly never ending passage of alleyways, seemed like a maze. The women arrived in front of another man, his eyes pure black, just like the woman's orbs. Takami hid behind the wall, peeking slightly to his right to see the woman and the man conversing.

"It seems as though the empire is finally acting." spat the woman, disgust evident in her tone, "Where did you hear that tidbid of information from?" queried the man, "From an associate, I also got the location of their new base of their avatars on Earth, currently I am gathering allies to take them down pre-emptively."

"Alright, I'm in." confirmed the man. 'What's the 'Empire'? and what are they taking 'action' against?' pondered Takami, "You don't need to know yet" replied Yuki.

"Since we've come this far, there is no backing out. There are two of them, I'll take on one but that means that you will have to take on the second. As you currently can not manipulate the dark energy in your body without me doing it for you, aside from your pseudo [Void Eyes] technique I shall synthesis a bow for you, hold out your hand. I want you to stay as far away from the battle as possible. Do you understand?" stated Yuki in a perfunctory manor.

Takami nodded his head in confirmation and then held out his hand, feeling the dark energy from within his abdomen being directed towards his hands through his veins in an inefficient manor as black mist eventually started to seep out of his hand and materialise into a black bow, along with a quiver of arrows.

The solid black bow was cold as ice, grabbing an arrow from the quiver, Takami pulled back the bow string using the arrow, a grunt was emitted from him as he barely managed to pull back the arrow. 'I should really do more physical exercise.' he thought. He slowly aimed the bow at the possessed woman's abdomen and then nodded at Yuki.

Yuki flew into action, hitting the man causing him to fall to the ground unconscious. Yuki had said that he would fight the dark entity within the man, allowing Takami to fight the women uninterrupted. A whistle erupted from the air as the arrow seemed like it shredded space and time, flying at a blistering speed towards the women. She turned around, looked at the arrow in surprise, forming a shield in front of her abdomen made of dark energy. *Crack*. The wall next to the woman cracked under the pressure as the arrow was embedded into it.

A smirk crawled onto the woman's face as Takami grimaced, 'I swear to god I had aimed it right at her, although this is to be expected due to my lacklustre amount of experience wielding a bow...' . A cloud of mist synthesised in the woman's right palm as a spear was created. The sharp, cold and unfeeling shining tip seemed to smarmily smile at Takami, pointing straight at his abdomen.

Takami took out another arrow, slowly breathing in, unknowingly sending more dark energy towards his eyes and arms. Time seemed to slow down as Takami drew the arrow upon the bow and shot it where he thought the woman would move to based on the movements of her muscles. *CLANG*. The arrow, seemingly speeding towards the woman as if it were a runaway train, was deflected by the spear, forming a small dent on the side of the object and made the woman stumble a few steps backwards.

After regaining her balance, the woman rushed towards Takami who took out another arrow to shoot at her, however this time there was no time. She was going to connect the blow before he could shoot the arrow which probably would not even hit.

Takami held his bow outwards in a protective manor as the woman slashed at it, breaking the bow in half. She then sliced at Takami's abdomen again, only managing to procure a shallow cut in the middle of Takami's abdomen due to him partially evading the attack. He felt his back hit the wall as the third slash was being prepared, he wouldn't be able to dodge the next attack. If he couldn't think of something it would all fade to black.

'Come on, Think, Think!' screamed Takami, "Visualise sending the dark energy towards your core", this memory once again reappeared before Takami. He had managed to activate the pseudo [Void Eyes] technique by reversing the order of these actions, by sending dark energy through his veins he was able to activate it. 'I've got it!' Takami thought triumphantly.

With his left arm, he grabbed an arrow from his nearly empty quiver and stabbed it into a vein in his right arm, the pain was immeasurable as ruby red blood dripped down the arrow head and onto the floor, the sickly smell of blood remerged causing Takami to wince.

He quickly visualised a black, thin, one handed sword which promptly materialised before him. The arrow in his left hand disintegrated, concluding that the dark energy used to create the arrow was used to create the sword, Takami smiled grabbing another arrow from the quiver with his left hand. It was his last arrow.

Holding the sword atop of the arrow he braced for the impact of the Jab, aimed accurately at his heart. If this attack connected it would be game over for him. A disturbing whine was emitted as the tip of the spear and the one handed sword collided, bright black sparks jumped with joy landing on the ground beside them, causing a small crater to formed.

As they collided, Takami was slowly being pushed backwards but could not retreat any further into the wall, the tip of the arrow in his left hand providing extra support to his sword equipped in his right hand had started to pierce his chest, blood staining his navy-blue T-shirt. As his wound grew larger Takami started to lose strength in his arms causing further potentially fatal damage.

"Well, what have we here?" another voice erupted from the shadows of the alleyway. A small smile was visible showcasing a set of pearly white teeth. As the man stepped forward his features were clearly visible, two vermillion orbs, flawless skin and jelled black hair. He wore a black suit along with a grey tie, blending in perfectly with the shadows, the woman diverted her attention over to the man but kept pushing with her spear in order to harm Takami.

"An unpossessed human boy who can manipulate dark energy. That must mean you are one of that man's descendants." stated the man, in a matter-of-factly manor. A grin emerged upon his handsome face as a small dagger materialised in his hand, his eyes turned black and his arm was enveloped in a black mist as he threw the dagger. As if it broke through space and time, before the woman could react, the dagger clashed against the spear, causing it to fly out of the woman's hands and onto the concrete floor of the alley.

The mysterious man walked towards a wall and pulled out an arrow which had been embedded into it. He then peered at the partially immobilised Takami, his shirt dyed with blood and a pained expression evident on his face, and leisurely walked over to him. When the man got close to the woman, as a result of being unarmed, she materialised claws upon her nails and attempted to slash at the man.

Two daggers flew at the speed of shadows chased by the tyrannous sun embedded themselves into both of the woman's palms. She collided with the wall to Takami's left with a scream, her hands above her head unable to move, blood trickling down her clothes and onto the floor. Everything happened so fast that it seemed as if it the man had done nothing. A frown appeared upon the man's face as he glared at the woman, "Why must you all be so unrefined? You'll give the newcomer the wrong impression." lamented the man promptly followed by a sigh.

He redirected his gaze over to Takami and handed him the arrow, he then looked at the woman and calmly spoke, "Boy, go over there and destroy her core, I have no need for the unrefined trash which can barely be called dark essence contained within its core. However it seems like it would be more useful for you to consume." The man looked at the state of Takami's body and shook his head in a disappointed manor.

"Who are you and why are you helping me?" queried Takami, his orbs clouded with confusion and pain. "Hmm... how to put it.... you are the descendant of a certain important old acquaintance of mine." replied the man. Takami nodded and grabbed the arrow made of dark energy, held within the man's left hand. The pain which he was suffering from was of such a large magnitude for someone with no resistance to pain such as Takami, so the man had thought that it was not unusual that the only thing that was on Takami's mind was how to lessen the burden placed upon him by his nervous system.

Takami slowly trudged over to the woman who was thrashing around attempting to rid herself of the daggers which confined her to the wall, tears fell from her eyes as she screamed, "Please don't kill me, if you let me go we can team up and kill the other bastard!". Takami held the arrow in his right arm and thrusted the arrow into her abdomen, although it was only for a short period of time, he was once again subjected to the disturbing feeling of cutting human flesh with a sharp object. The arrow collided with a dense object, Takami grunted as he used both of his hands to pierce the core. Following this a satisfactory crack erupted from the woman's abdomen, her black eyes reverted back to the woman's normal eye colour; brown. Tears flooded down her cheeks and dark essence seeped down her legs, onto the floor, and was absorbed into Takami.

The painful feeling of being sliced in his abdomen with a spear and an arrow were replaced with a refreshing feeling as if he were relaxing in a hot spring. Not long after this chain of events, Yuki flew out of the man, obviously distressed, "Sorry kid, I held him back for as long as I could! How are things on your side?" said Yuki.

"I've eliminated the other dark entity." replied Takami. Before the man could stand back up and recover from his fight with Yuki, Takami struck the arrow made from dark energy into his abdomen and grimaced at the feeling of cutting flesh before piercing his core and absorbing the dark essence.

"Good job kid!" cried Yuki, joy laced within his tone. Yuki looked around the ally only to see a man dressed in black staring at him. "Ah, Tobias, it has been too long. I suppose that you helped out the kid?" asked Yuki. "This is correct." replied Tobias. "Thanks, he seems to be unable to mind his own business, this stupid kid." reprimanded Yuki.

Takami smiled whilst Tobias inwardly thought, 'he looks just like another person we both know.' . Tobias grinned nostalgically as he chatted with Yuki until they heard a loud crash, intrigued as to what the source of the sound had been both entities looked towards the sound. There lay Takami, sound asleep on the cold, unfeeling, concrete floor.

"I guess it was only a matter of time before he was going to drop, after all he doesn't even know how to replenish his dark energy." stated Tobias. "By the way, who taught him to create a sword, a bow and use a weakened version of the [Void Eyes] technique?" murmured Tobias.

"I used my ability to manipulate his dark energy to create the bow but he seems to instinctively active the pseudo [Void Eyes] technique, also, you said that Takami had a sword? I never made him a sword though." answered Yuki.

"Intriguing." commented Tobias. "The boy's life will forever change if I were to teach him how to master manipulating dark energy. I wonder, would he ever be able to return back to his former life, would he even want to?" asked Tobias, a smirk formed on his face, 'not like it matters to me anyways, as long as he aids me in achieving my goal, I wouldn't mind an extra minion.' .

Some say that in order to take a step forward, one must first take a step back in order to think outside the box. However, once you take a step backwards, the shadows of your past will never let you go. There is no going back, everyone has regrets.
