In a few minutes, Chen had arrived at the Internet café he recalled from Pete's memories. A sign read 'God's Own Internet Cafe' right in front.
He had enough cash with him to pay for an hour or two to use a computer so he proceeded to head to the counter.
"We will be closing by 9 sir, please make sure you're done by then," The young lady at the counter voiced out to him.
Chen nodded in response before heading toward one of the computers. There were not a lot of computers here since this was a pretty run-down area in the city. This Internet café was a small one.
'It doesn't look as godly as the sign says,' Chen said internally as he took his seat.
The computers here were pretty similar to that of his earth with a few differences like holographic keyboards and a few other things.
Chen was still able to operate it regardless of the differences and went on to start searching for jobs privy to supernaturals.
'Monthly Tournament Bout... cash prize of hundred thousand dollars for the first place, second place, fifty thousand and third place, thirty thousand... too bad they already had one for this month, I would have tried my luck but till next month before the next one. I only have a month to pay Chief Enzo,' Chen scrolled past this after checking the information.
He was also sceptical because he felt there would be level twenty and thirty players participating who were considered tier two and three supernaturals. He was still a tier-one supernatural since he was below level twenty.
There was no guarantee of winning.
'Tusgen Factory... heavy lifting supernatural workers needed... 500$ per day,' Chen stared at the next with a look of interest.
"Hey this one is pretty good," He muttered as he calculated.
"In a month that would be up to fifteen thousand dollars but it is not enough to pay Enzo... From the looks of things they give quota so as long as the quota is finished within that day, I can leave at any time..." Chen analysed with a contemplative look.
He felt this was something he could use as a side job while he also looked for the main one. It also wasn't necessary to work every day.
Chen kept this in mind as he proceeded to check for the application requirements and the factory location before scrolling to the next job.
'Supernatural Sex worker needed... skip,'
'Supernatural Sperm donator... skip,'
'Apply for the first Rondo Supernatural Tournament holding in August... Grand prize of ten million dollars... Aish this is still five months away,' Chen stared at this particular one on the monitor with a disappointed look.
The grand prize was more than enough to settle every single one of his problems right now but the Tournament was still five months away.
Chen still decided to apply anyways and proceeded to scroll as he took his mind off.
'Supernatural feet stool needed... Huh? Job description... Madam Lilian needs a supernatural to place her feet on all day long... skip,' Chen shook his head as he felt some rich people had really weird fetishes.
The payment was good but Chen was not looking to be someone's feet stool all day. While he considered himself quite the shameless businessman this was something he would never do.
'Supernatural bodyguard needed.... hmm this one doesn't seem bad... take Mr Deltran's kid to school and bring him back home safely...' Chen stared at the payment and noticed it was a whooping sum of eighty thousand dollars per month for a start with a few other benefits.
'I don't even have to work 9 to 5... I just need to take him to school and bring him back to the house safely... During the time in between, I could be doing other things...' Chen could see that the application was still open which meant they hadn't picked someone yet so he proceeded to apply.
If he got this job, while he couldn't pay everything he owed immediately, he could still pay some.
Chen didn't stop there and proceeded to check out more jobs just to make sure he had a ton of options just in case anyone didn't work out.
"We're closing up sir, you're the last person here," Chen heard a voice call out from behind him.
He looked back and noticed that almost all the lights had been switched off already and the cafe was nearly empty. Just him and the lady were left.
"Give me a minute please, I am almost done with this application," Chen voiced with an apologetic tone before turning back to face the computer.
He was applying for one last job.
"Please hurry up," She responded with a slightly bothered tone.
Chen was grateful she was a nice girl but he didn't want to keep her waiting any longer so he speedily did what he had to.
After a few more minutes he was done.
"Sorry for taking up so much of your time," Chen stated as he arrived at the counter.
"It's really late now, sigh," She voiced in response as she began closing up.
"I'm so sorry," Chen said once more before proceeding to move towards the entrance.
Chen checked his small cellphone for time and realised it was already fifteen minutes to 10 pm.
"It's really late," He muttered as he realised he had spent way longer outside than he intended to.
Since this was a few streets away, he would need to walk for about 15 minutes before he would arrive back home.
Chen wore his hoodie over his head as he began moving forward.
A few minutes later Chen stopped as he recalled something and tried touching his pocket.
"My keys..." He recalled he left his keys on the computer desk within the cafe and forgot to take them with him on his way out.
"It's late already, I could come back to get it tomorrow but my room key is among the bunch... I need to log in to Overworld this night," Chen wasn't looking to break down his room door if he could help it because that would be another money he had to spend fixing it and he didn't have plenty of that.
Chen turned around at this point, "She may still be around," He thought out loud as he began to run back in the direction he came from.
It only took him about a minute to close in on the part of the street where the Internet café was located.
However, the moment it was within sight Chen noticed something strange.
A few feet up ahead, a female silhouette was amid two male silhouettes and it seemed like they were holding out items that caused the female silhouette to look like she was in a pinch.
"Isn't that... the lady at the cafe," Chen instantly recognised the female figure.
"She's getting mugged," Chen ran forward at this point after he realised this must have happened to her because he kept her here longer than she was supposed to.
"Hand over the necklace too," One of the thieves voiced out.
"Please, you can take the others, but not that. It belongs to my late sister," The lady voiced with a pleading tone.
"Hand it over right now,"
"Just take it from h..."
As the thieves were speaking, they heard footsteps coming from the side and turned to stare in the direction of the footsteps.
"Huh?" The instant the one on the left spotted the approaching figure, a kick was already swinging towards his face.
The assailant had leapt upwards with both feet joined and outstretched.
Bam!
Chen's feet cleanly stomped onto the middle of one of the thieves's faces, sending him crashing towards the ground.
"Ugh!" The thief subconsciously shut his eyes as he groaned in pain and a crack rang out upon contact.
Blood spilt out of his nose and lips as the dagger in his hand fell and slid across the street ground along with his body.
"Who..?" The other thief instantly pointed his gun at Chen with his finger pulling the trigger.
