Chapter 47 - Confession

Abaddon had been gathering courage for several days, determined to confess his feelings to Eric. Today was the day he had chosen to reveal his emotions. With trembling hands and a racing heart, he decided to take Eric to the terrace, hoping to create a romantic atmosphere that would help convey the depth of his feelings.

As he stepped onto the terrace, Abaddon nervously glanced at the heart sign he had painstakingly created using delicate rose petals. 'Luckily, it's still here. After seeing this, Eric would understand my intentions.'

However, before Eric could notice, a gust of wind swept through the terrace, scattering the carefully arranged petals into a total mess.

"Why are there so many rose petals here?" Eric spoke cluelessly after seeing petals all over the terrace.

'Why did the wind have to blow right now? He didn't get a chance to see it…

Don't be disappointed; let's confess.' [Abaddon]

Just as Abaddon was about to confess, the atmosphere grew dark, threatening rain. "Abaddon, let's go inside. It's about to rain," Eric quickly pulled Abaddon inside before a single word could escape his lips.

Abaddon's heart ached with disappointment; he couldn't help but wonder if fate was conspiring against him.

Inside, they were alone. Seeing it as another chance to confess, Abaddon was about to speak when an unexpected voice interrupted the moment.

"Nithane, what are you doing here?" Eric asks upon seeing Nithane unexpectedly.

"Why else? I came in search of you. There are some questions I would like to discuss with you." Nithane, who had realized Eric's genius after the earlier math test, takes Eric from there.

Abaddon waits for their conversation to end, but it took longer than he thought. He never expected that confessing his feelings would be such a struggle.

Disheartened, Abaddon began his walk home after school hours were over, wondering if he'd ever get a chance to open his heart to Eric. Just as he was about to turn the corner, Eric appeared, his eyes filled with curiosity.

"What were you trying to say on the terrace?" Eric asked, his tone gentle but guarded.

Summoning all his courage, Abaddon began to speak, pouring his heart out. "Eric, that… I... I love you."

For a moment, it seemed as though time stood still. Abaddon's heart pounded in his chest, his hopes hanging on the precipice of those words. But Eric's response wasn't what he had anticipated.

With a heavy sigh, Eric looked away, his eyes filled with profound sadness. "Abaddon, I can't… I can't accept your confession."

Abaddon felt like his world was crumbling. He couldn't understand why Eric was rejecting his confession, when he was sure that Eric also have feeling for him.

"Why, Eric? I know you like me, then why? Is it because of our families, or am I not good enough?" Abaddon's voice trembled with a mix of confusion and hurt, desperately seeking an explanation.

"Abaddon, it's not because of you. It's just I can't…" Eric hesitated, his gaze distant, but he didn't offer an explanation.

"Eric, all this time... have you ever had feelings for me?" Eric wasn't able to answer Abaddon's question, even though, he was sure about his feelings that he likes Abaddon more than himself.

But the reality of his life wasn't something he could compromise on. One day, out of nowhere, he entered a novel and became Eric Jonas, an extra with no future. To survive, he never hesitated to kill or use anyone. However, when it came to Abaddon, everything began to change, and he felt an emotion he had never anticipated, love.

But with that newfound emotion came an equally powerful fear. What would happen to Abaddon if, one day, he returned to his original world? Or if there is actually a future, can Abaddon stand by his side by turning his family into his enemies?

Eric was sure, he going to regret this moment but still, for Abaddon's future being separated by him is the best choice, he can ever make.

Tears welled up in Abaddon's eyes, their salty sting matching the ache in his chest. He felt the weight of Eric's rejection pressing down on him, making it hard to breathe. It was as if everything he had believed, the connection he thought they shared, had all been a cruel illusion from the very beginning. Abaddon couldn't help but feel used, just another piece in a game he didn't understand.

With a heavy heart, Abaddon turned away and began to walk, his steps heavy and burdened. The rain, now pouring down heavily, provided a perfect cover for the tears that streamed down his face, offering a comforting shroud for his pain. In that moment, he wished for the rain to wash away his pain, but it only added to the storm of emotions raging within him.

Witnessing all of this, Aiden couldn't understand why Eric rejected the confession when he clearly liked Abaddon. If he didn't have any feelings towards Abaddon, why did Eric have the face of someone who had lost something precious?

"Young master..." Aiden's voice was filled with concern as he stepped forward, sharing the umbrella with Eric to shield him from the pouring rain. However, Eric didn't say a word. With a heavy heart and unresolved inner turmoil, he walked away, leaving Aiden behind.

After returning home, Abaddon was in a terrible state. He locked himself in his room, his wet clothes clinging to his chilled body as he sat on the floor. He cried until his heart felt a bit lighter.

"Why didn't I think before? No one can ever love a person like me…

Everyone must have been happy, if I weren't born in the first place." All the bad memories came to his mind, Abaddon couldn't think straightly as he was falling into deep darkness.

He couldn't resist his hands to reach the knife that placed on the table. With a smile, he pointed it towards himself as to end every suffering.
