Chapter 142 - The rainbow effect

"A race with no distinct element." Damon thought thinking back to the little information he gathered.

Spectating kass Damon could tell she was completely different from anyone he had ever seen. It was her aura that made her different. It didn't take him long to see her aura itself was her power.

Unlike many people, it seemed her aura color targeted and controlled certain aspects of what she could do.

It took her a little time but she managed to get to the top of the icy ramp. Her fists glowed red as four walls shifted up blocking her path. With a couple of punches the walls were destroyed and she pushed on to a part of the track that was made with white sand.

Now her legs and feet were smothered in red aura instead of pink as her feet were sunken up to her knees in sand. As she pulled them up taking steps the sand acted as if it was alive crawling on her legs pulling them back down attempting to keep her still.

Seeing this Damon assumed the red colored aura increased her strength. The lime green aura she began with was for speed and the orange was for her agility because the only places she used the orange aura was on parts of her body with joints or parts with flexibility.

"If I'm correct about the way her power works then each color increases one or two of her stats individually. That would be a real problem if so." He thought.

Thinking back to the ring out game her complete aura was mixture of many.

Kass would look at Damon ever so often while going through the obstacles and each time she did. A look of annoyance was on her face.

She finished the obstacle track in 15 minutes. Damon thought about trying the obstacle track earlier but their was a single lane on the side of the wide track that was meant for running. That was the track he took when completing his 3 mile run, which wasn't hard at all.

Afterwards kass had and displeased face expression as she crossed the finish line. It was obvious she wanted to complete the obstacle course at a certain time to Damon and so he thought to try and break the ice between them by giving her some tips that he thought would help her.

Walking over to them, he first complemented her on tenacious spirit. Kass ignored his words until Luna stepped in tilting her head to the side giving her a look that said it all.

"Thanks." Kass said in a salty Manner.

"Forgive me, but I'm trying to be a good and respectful guest but I have to ask. Why are you constantly giving me a look." He asked kass in which she denied what he was saying.

Damon insisted that she had been giving him a look that clearly showed she didn't like him and kass just kept responding with denial.

"I don't know you and you don't know me. I'm sorry if have offended you in some way. That wasn't my intentions." Damon said as he turned around to walk away because he clearly saw she didn't care to talk to him.

"By the way, what's slowing you down the most on the track is the sand. if you want a faster time. Try increasing your agility and strength once you get to that area and not just your strength." He said casually while continuing to walk away.

Luna smiled lightly and then turned to kass.

"Well, wanna give it a try." She asked.

Kass sucked her teeth a little while looking at Damons back coldly as he walked towards the exit.

"Nobody asked him for his opinion."

"Kass, get over it already. That boy has no clue why you don't like him and remember, it's not his fault your father didn't stay." Luna said.

"Yea I know, but who's he. Why would Dad rather look after him than me."

"That's something you will have to ask your father kass. Now, why don't you go around again and this time try what Damon suggested. He did see how your power works rather quickly. He might have saw something you didn't. Its good to take or at least try advice others give you kass." Luna said sternly like a mother.

Taking in an irritated breath she got ready in a running stance and soon began. She went through all of the other obstacles the same and just before she got to the crawling sands she increased her agility and strength in her lower half.

The joints in her feet, knees and hips became easier to maneuver within the sand as they were able to stretch more. The strength she added to them battled the pulling tension of the sand perfectly and she had made it out the sandy area faster than ever before.

She went on to complete the the course in twelve minutes, making it her best time yet.

Damon stood at the exit until she crossed the finish line. Once she did their eyes met and for a moment and she gave him a thankful face expression that lasted a second or two and then a cold stare again.

Damon looked at her with a stone face, turned his back and walked out.

"Thanks for the tip." She thought to herself while relaxing her face and body a little. Luna walked up to her clapping.

"See,help from others can actually do some good. Its a pity you returned his kindness with an attitude. You will never be as great as your father if you keep such a mindset." Luna said walking off and heading towards the exit herself leaving kass with her thoughts.

She sat on the floor leaning her back against the wall placing her arms and knees up in front of her. Her lips began to quiver as her head landed between her arms and tears ran down her face.

"I,I'm just so,so angry. Not at that boy, but Dad. Why, why did you leave me. Was it because you were ashamed of me. What kind of father drops his 5 year old daughter off with a bunch of strangers and leave." She said to herself outloud sobbing.

"What kind of father would only show up once a year and then leave for long periods of time and eventually quit coming to check on his kid. How could mom fall in love with such a selfish man." She said outloud stomping her feet slightly.

"Is that what you believe. A familiar voice spoke.

Looking up kass could see a old man with long white hair and a very buff chest with his arms folded.

"Sir Maru." She said gently with tears still coming down.

"Kass, your father loves you dearly. I know that is difficult to see and I understand your frustrations. it wasn't easy being without your parents at such a young impressionable age back then "

" I've told you this many times and I will tell you as many times as you need to hear it. Leon had no choice."

"It was for your own protection. I'm in no position to explain things further because of certain aspects of that reason but you two will be reunited. "

"I promise. Until then I want you to make a name for yourself and live. Enjoy life. Learn things and explore the world. "

"You never know. That may bring you two closer much faster." The 4th chief said who's real name was Maru.

"What do you mean, explore the world. I thought it wasn't safe for me to leave. You told me I couldn't until the time presented itself, and that you would let me know." She said standing up wiping away her tears.

Maru smiled lightly while pulling her in for a gentle hug.

"Ah, my girl. What does it sound like I'm saying. I'm saying that time has come. That boy, Damon. You will join him and his squad. I will make arrangements for your departure tonight."

Kass face became angered and confused.

Seeing this Maru acted quickly in telling her to stop with her attitude. He then explained to her why and that maybe she could learn a few things from him about her father.

"When your father Leon would come to see you. He always ended up leaving rather shortly after because he also had to take care of another young one at the time. You know about this and you have known from the beginning."

"Leon even told you his name, but what he didn't tell you the boy called Damon is.....Maru paused for a moment...your little brother."

"My what." She exclaimed.

Maru chuckled a little.

"Please forgive us for not telling you sooner, but I assure you it was for a good reason. Kass their is.....Maru paused once more trying to get his thoughts together.

"There are....he paused yet again. Let's just say, your father and I made a terrible mistake in the past that threatened not just your life and your brother but this entire planet. it is one that haunts us to this very day. I can't go into further details, not yet anyway."

"I'm telling you this because I trust and believe in you kass."
