Damon gave him a side eye while looking up. "oh, of course you would rather kill someone or at least try. he said sarcastically with dead eyes after hearing kimbo's words of killing which just slick flipped a switch in Damon's head thinking about taylen and them trying to kill him.
everyone looked at each other and then at Damon while kimbo dropped his head down in shame. look I don't know what occurred between you two but we are a squad now. so I say you two work it out or something. work it out. now that's very funny. Damon responded to glee. hey kimbo why don't you tell our squad what you tried to do and don't leave out any details. Damon said with a crackling electricity in his eyes.
just then a waiter introduced herself while bringing plates and utensils. is everything ok here she asked, feeling and seeing the tension in the air a little especially looking at Damon whose eyes dimmed and turned back to normal.
"everything is fine and we would like to place our orders." vora said to the yellow haired waitress. everyone placed an order except for Damon who decided he would eat later. he had spent enough money already today he felt and had plenty of food in his storage thanks to old man butcher.
"well kimbo, aren't you going to tell everyone what happened between us or are you going to act as if it's nothing of concern. Damon asked soon as the waiter turned around and left the table. kimbo clearly understood Damon wasn't going to let it go easily and so he looked at everyone around the table while taking in a deep breath.
he started the story at the beginning of that day a few hours before Damon and taylen got into a fight. around twenty minutes later he had told his side of the story up until he was near death from what Damon did to him. Damon then picked up where he left off. it was strange hearing it from kimbos side of the story and during his story telling kimbo made sure to apologize here and there and made sure to tell him how stupid he was to follow and consider taylen a friend.
after Damon finished the rest of the story he pulled his clothing on his chest down a little that showed half of the scar he got from taylen trying to end him. everyone looked at kimbo with dark eyes hearing the story and seeing Damon's scar. glee and blane shook their heads in disappointment. they too knew Damon's story about him being cursed and without a soul beast back then and attended school with him but they weren't among the kids that picked on him or treated him badly. most of those kids escaped with their families along with taylen and his father.
kimbo eyes widened with regret seeing a part of the scar. "so now you all know why I don't care for him as a person. I'll look out for you as a member of this squad but trust me if you ever do something to harm our squad in any way I will not hesitate to. Ok damn it, I get your fucking point kimbo shouted cutting Damon's words off. his eyes filled with water as his hands began shaking. I messed up and I'm truly sorry. it's not what you really think but it's no use explaining. once we return home I'll ask sir hughes to swap me to another squadron." kimbo then placed three silver coins on the table. he stood up while telling everyone he was going to check in at the guild inn.
He's clearly sorry Damon, I'm not asking you to forgive him but maybe you should cut him a little slack. besides why didn't you defeat them. the power you displayed at the academy and them trying to kill you happened the same day according to the story. I mean I know four against two is a disadvantage but I've faced jolly before one on one and he gave me problems at the academy when it came to sparing. with your power and his I don't see them winning, well not forcing you two into the position you were in anyways, even with the four of them glee said. blane agreed with glee as he shook his head up and down.
vora,Garren and Tara just listened because they weren't there and only knew what was told to them. but they too were curious about how Damon and jolly survived and why Damon couldn't fight back with his newly discovered powers at that time.
Damon then began explaining a few things about how he had depleted all of his energy with that outburst in class because he couldn't control his power. he also told glee and blane that his powers weren't like theirs. "my powers solely rely on me and not my beast. I have an ability core like you two."
blane and glee looked at each other for a moment while glee held out his hand with a cheesy smile. "come on give it up, I told you I was right. blane then flicked glee two silver coins. seeing this the rest of them looked at them with curious eyes.
"sorry for interrupting you but me and blane had a bet going on. I said that your powers came from your curse while he believed you had another soul beast that used the lightning and that you were just combining your cursed power with theirs but it's pretty rare for people to awaken two or more soul beasts let alone a very late bloomer like yourself. no disrespect by the way. So you have both a ability core and soul beast but you can't use your soul beast power as your own like other soul masters" he added.
Damon looked at them oddly. " come on Damon, you didn't really think the power you displayed during the battle in village city would go unnoticed did you. many of us that was there and know how soul masters power work after awakening already knew your power was different to a higher degree. by the way the mongrels clarified this as well. I overheard a few of them talking in the arena back in obsidian city. they can sense how many soul beasts we have within us. Damon looked at vora, Tara and Garren in disbelief. the all simply nodded saying glee was telling the truth.
"I'm sure you can guess the rest. the day you woke up and came to the stadium looking for jolly was the perfect time for me to ask one of the mongrels if they could tell me how many soul beasts you had. you didn't notice me but I noticed you. actually it was you and vora not too far away from the entrance. thinking back Damon knew the moment he was talking about. yea, you see something funny happened. he couldn't tell. matter of fact the mongrel I asked said you didn't have any which raised questions for me because we all have seen Javalin or heard of her. I asked Tara as well once realizing we were now in a squad together after I got to know her a little.
she too said the same thing. that you didn't have a soul beast. I don't know what that's about but I did more further digging and just decided to watch you here and there. I know most soul masters like ourselves would not summon our soul beast so freely unless we had no choice. you on the other hand summon Javalin all the time she's around twenty four seven which tells me two things. either you are an idiot orrrrrrrrrrrrrr he said in length hoping for Damon to just say something that would give him more to go off of. orrrrrrrr what Damon asked waiting.
"shit, I don't know really. I was hoping you or someone would see where I was going with this entire thing and add on he said with a light chuckle. you're different that's for damn sure, I don't know how but you are.
Hearing everything glee said gave Damon a lot to think about. "maybe jolly was right. maybe you should just embrace being completely different and don't hide anything, well except for my system of course. shield said to Damon. if kids can figure out that much then you have no chance at hiding it from seasoned adults. he added.
Damon clapped his hands a few times giving glee a small applause with a smile. "you're indeed correct. I am different and it's because of my power is ki. through ki is how I awakened and received my soul beast. I don't know how but it happened. maybe because I awakened through ki and not the normal way is why mongrels can't Sense my soul beast within. another thing you're correct about is that I only have one soul beast for now.
the mongrels listened carefully because all in all they were still learning about how different they were. they knew the basics but listening to them speak about their powers and how they worked made things more clear.
"ok so what about your transformation, it's like you are like them in that regard blain asked him while stuffing his face with a hoagie and pointing at Tara, vora and Garren. well like I said it's part of my power. when I ran into the hyencalue I pushed myself as hard as I could thinking I could win and boom. next thing I knew I had transformed but then fell unconscious. I know you all have been warned and updated about the threat that came from their planet he said.
"the hyencalue marked you, that's why you're not dead. I've been marked by it as well. since I was fourteen. vora spoke. the mongrels began breaking down what they knew about the hyencalue to them giving glee and blane a clearer understanding of the beast. Damon knew the real truth about it being a demon and how its power truly worked but said nothing and listened as if he didn't know everything.
Around twenty five more minutes had passed and the mongrels had explained as much as they knew about the hyencalue but Damon noticed something inside vora's eyes as she spoke about the hyencalue who's true name was embryo.
he didn't say anything about it and decided to change the conversation around. they soon left the restaurant and had made it to the guild inn.
it was a pretty big building with many smaller buildings attachments to it. in the very back of the building it looked to be a grassy plain at least seven acres with a huge dome glass that covered it. they walked inside and all they had to do was show thier guild card because vora had already checked in her squad as a whole.
the inside had white and red marble floors and ceilings with twelve by twelve pillars scattered throughout. multiple desks and counters could be seen with two people assisting at each desk and counter. Damon didn't realize it until they walked in but there were more guilds staying in coast city than he thought. he had only seen the purple puppets.
four other guilds looked to be staying there as well. unlike them each guild had one or two members holding a flag with their guild symbol on it and even though they all had on different armor or clothing their guild symbol was displayed somewhere on them as well.
Damon walked to one of the open counters in which the man behind the desk greeted him and asked for his guild badge. soon the man gave it back after scanning it and also gave him another card and instructions which was the key to his room.
everyone that entered or left would always have to report to the counter for a complete check in. vora had only went to check them in as a guild not individually which was something they all had to do separately.
in a few corners of the spacious lobby their were jumbo screens. some played visual TV of recorded battles and tournaments while others gradually changed every few seconds to different color backgrounds with messages and certain information pertaining to the inn.
everyone else did the same and received their room cards except vora who had already gotten hers earlier.
