Chapter 16 - Alone, I

Layla Serenity POV:

Where do I start?

These last three or four months have been unbelievably great and fun… The one who made me feel so happy and energetic every single day, ever since we met each other that late at night, is the strong, good-looking, rational, and soft-hearted boy called Elias.

I had only seen and heard of him in that fantasy novel I started to read just for fun.

It is not that I like to read or whatever, I don't even know why I started it. All I can say is that, like the majority of people who read, I was the same as them.

Even though it was a book about a small boy, losing his mother in front of his eyes on a fated day, the way that the boy's emotions, the sad times, and the happy times together, made its readers get more engrossed in reading the story.

Again, I was a victim of that effect and read the novel to the end.

It had eight volumes and I finished it in just a week. Crazy, right? That's just how much I liked the story and the small boy who matured through it.

It is pretty weird, to be honest. For a girl to fall in love with a boy whose story started when he was seven and it ended when he was sixteen.

The revenge plan he had in mind after training every single day for almost 10 years, went to waste. The particular reason for the circumstance was that the group of dangerous bandits, which attacked them were wiped out by the country's hero.

After I finished the story, my mind kept going to the main character on a daily basis…

What would he do if he killed them all? He has never killed before.

He couldn't wrong people, he was kind.

He didn't communicate with women at all, he's shy. He needs to fix that soon, or else he will be left alone.

He's sixteen now, considered a grown-up in Nexus, his world.

He has to start a family if he wants the title of chief.

What would he be doing right now, if he was real?

Would he be training? Eating? Or go out and make some friends, after all, he was bad with words.

I let my breath out, clouding the bus window I was sitting next to and looking out, "Sigh~ If only he was real..." I noiselessly muttered.

***

"Seren" I heard a voice call me quietly from afar.

"Hm?" I whipped my head to the source of the voice as it felt natural to reply to that name.

"Hmmm?" I started pondering… Why am I hearing that from time to time when no one's near me?

***

I had a spoon and a pan in my hand making noise in the early morning.

"Hurry, ■■■■■! Wake up, we're going to school." I was calling out to the boy sleeping on a floor bed in my room.

■■■■s groaned sluggishly, "Ugh, five more hours, wait… School?!" bolted up.

We ate breakfast as if it was a normal part of our routine. I cooked for him, I dearly looked at him eating the food I made with joy in his eyes… Even though it was just some toasted bread topped with some cherry jam.

We were about to go to school when he said with his indifferent face, "I don't have a bag."

"What?!" I yelled, panicking more than ■■■as himself…

"Kgh-hah, hah… What was that dream… It felt so vivid." I panted as I forcefully was woken up from the fantasy I could never go through.

***

"Welcome, for the first time in your life, to a Coffee Bar!" I yelled out happily towards the boy whose name I just learned.

We ordered some coffees, and he gulped it down hot, he probably burned his tongue.

Hehe, how cute, he's trying to make it seem as if he didn't feel it. I chuckled inwardly at the awkward reaction.

"Huh, I didn't say his name once this time" I woke up again from the dream, alone in the dark room, reminiscing the fantasy I just had.

***

I and Sean were sitting next to each other in the living room with ■■ias across us when he confidently asked us "Do you guys want to learn magic?"

"It was too short, let's sleep again Layla, maybe the dream will continue…" I woke up and tried to go back to sleep, after all, I was almost learning magic.

***

He was crying this time.

I went close to him, I started holding him, I comforted him.

"It's alright, ■lias. It's alright to cry, I'm here with you." He burst out crying again as while holding me around my waist, his face buried in my chest.

What a pervert you are, trying to get advantage of me in this situation… I chortled at what I was thinking to myself.

"Oh, that… That left a bad taste in my mouth… Ah, are these tears?" I noticed tears streaming down my face when my skin touched the wet surface of my pillow.

"Hah, I can't believe I'm crying to a dream person whose face nor name I know…" I sighed disappointedly at myself.

***

Days passed on and I stopped seeing those types of dreams, from which I didn't want to get up and forget. I wanted to endlessly keep seeing them, to the point I started to hate reality without that unknown boy.

But like any other dream, these imaginations were also forgotten, but the scars on my heart weren't.

***

"Let's go home, boys, it has gotten late," I called out to Sean and Luke.

Sean celebrated "Finally!" while Luke had the opposite reaction.

"Eh, but I wanted to party with the people here some more."

I talked two words with the coldest voice and look I could muster up "Home, Now!"

"Y-yes Mam!" he replied, his outstretched hand on his forehead, saluting as if I was a general or something.

***

We were walking home, quietly, and calmly, nothing seemed out of place.

Suddenly I bumped into someone head first.

"Kia~" A weird squeal left my mouth…

***

"First, my name is Elias Ayla, and I come from the Ayla village!"

Huh?

So you came for me, my Prince. I smiled.

From another world.
