On that fateful day, the sky had a tinge of red as the sun began to set. "Why, why did you do this?!" I howled towards one I considered a comrade, dear friend, or even a brother.
In an eloquent voice, he replied to me, "There was no other way for me to reach the end I desire." He continued, his voice getting more ragged, "To sate my curiosity, to fulfill the role handed generation after generation. To use the protagonist so I can become the owner of both worlds. To become the strongest there is."
Each time he gave a new reason, my heart continued to break and crumble. All those years together were nothing but a facade to him.
"Since when...?" I trailed off, my voice came out shaking more than I wanted it to.
"Hmm, since the very beginning. Everything was predestined, Elias."
"I see. It is truly sad that I'll have to kill someone I considered family." I said with a cold, monotonous tone, letting myself be flooded by the overflowing mana hovering around me.
Not thinking twice about the backlash I could have from utilizing multiple Transcendent Spells at once. Amethyst, Aegean, Emerald, Pearl, my body got showered with different colors of thundery ripples.
In the next flash, I transitioned next to him and commenced our battle.

Though, this battle will occur in one of the many years to come. Elias, The Irregular Mage, is the one who can create an insurmountable number of Transcendent Spells when he has yet to be Transcendent.
The Power system of the mages in Nexus is not too complicated. It has seven potentials, but to be able to create two Transcendent Spells, you would have to be at least a Peculiar-Potential Mage, in other words, one potential before reaching the Transcendents who live in another realm.
Transcendents are the strongest mages known to exist, even if their existence is known, no one has any relation to them since they aren't chained by the human bounds anymore.
The magic they use is akin to power that transcends the mana and spells normal mages use. It is a power that can defy time and space.
Elias, who has not achieved Peculiar-Potential, can create Transcendent Spells and has been able to since he was twelve. He doesn't resort to using them since his body isn't strong enough to withstand their power, and is lacking in mana reserves. To compensate, he excels at swordsmanship.
For what reason does he push himself so far for? To get revenge for his mother that got murdered in front of his very own eyes. Although, He was unable to get revenge because the country's hero beat him to it. He now wishes to be one of the strongest so no one can get in his way again.
And now, how will the Despair Hero go through his journey that starts oh-so-peacefully?
