Zev's eyes were covered in fog; she could barely see a thing, but she knew that the person looking at him right now with a hostile, cold gaze in his eyes was the person responsible for her life and also the one who made her act like a completely different person.
"S-stop right there!"
Zev called when Khalid was about to leave.
"You don't have to thank me."
He responded coldly and was about to step towards the blanket of velvet night when she suddenly grabbed his wrist, making Khalid's lifeless eyes squint while his brows frowned, which she immediately avoided as soon as his eyes met hers.
"Y-you asshole!"
Zev stuttered while her face flushed red like a ripe tomato.
"How nice of you to leave me there alone!"
It made Khalid sneer with her ridicule behavior, while Zev stared at his face with flaring, fiery cheeks.
"If I ever leave you, then you wouldn't be here."
His bland response made Zev grit her teeth, gripping tightly on Khalid's wrist without her knowing.
Whenever Khalid focused his eyes on her, she somewhat stuttered and acted all weird and annoyingly clumsy, despite having bandages that were covering her arms.
"So!, you've planned to leave me there, huh?! "
She continued to rant outrage, letting her voice eat away at the silence of the place.
"Well..."
He stopped.
"Almost?"
Khalid replied without a hint of concern.
'This bastard! '
She thought as she bravely stared at him, like burning a hole in him with her mind.
"You're so cruel, Hyun!"
Just then, Zev suddenly bolted out of the blue when a word she was avoiding came out accidentally in her mouth that even she could not believe from the word she stated, which made Khalid very surprised and unresponsive, along with the dark aura that she unnoticeably emitted with a sullen face, slapping aside her hands that were gripping his wrist before he stepped outside the dark, shaggy tent with a sullen expression that would not be able to paint.
"You're that angry just because I've called your stupid name?!"
She affirmed, preventing Khalid from taking another step outside and leaving Zev inside, staring at his back.
'Ha, I don't know anymore.'
Her thoughts scrambled; she could not even stop her mouth from rambling and just continued to spout everything she wanted whenever she got a chance.
"I almost just died; don't you even care about me?!"
What Zev had stated made Khalid gaze back at her with cold, piercing eyes just before he was about to talk.
"Oh, I thought you would die without a master.."
He asks with a mocking tone of voice, changing the look on his face with a disgusted expression, scanning Zev from head to toe.
He then sneered.
"I guess it was just a lie."
Khalid grinned before Zev raised her voice, which made her so out of breath.
"A lie?! When did I ever lie?!"
"Agreeing to be my master is like adopting a cat; you can't just raise it without being fed!"
She pants as she continues to rant out all the words she was trying to say, while Khalid just stands there and listens as she screams like an idiot.
"And that same goes for me; you can't just adopt me to be abandoned later!"
"Don't compare yourself to a cat; you leech."
Khalid responded before she could barely finish her words.
"Argh! Seriously, this jerk!"
She cursed as she fumed in anger, yet she could feel her stomach all fuzzy inside, especially when Khalid looked at him with a smile.
"That's more; I like it."
It made her freeze like a statue.
"Now, shut your mouth before I rip it in half."
Zev was left speechless; she did not just shut up, but when Khalid had also left, her face turned reddish hot, remembering the scene that had happened in the forest where Khalid had protected her in his arms even though she always argued with him all the time.
He had a chance to abandon Zev that day, but still, he chose to take her under his wing, which somewhat made her confused, leaving her inside while covering her face with a blanket as she felt her cheeks roast up.
'What the hell am I thinking?!'
She then tightly gripped the blanket in her hands.
'I must be sick!'
She thought before covering herself to sleep.
Meanwhile, when Khalid had left outside Zev's tent, he consciously found himself looking at the two familiar people, quietly lying on their beds, when a videotape of memory flashed before his eyes.
'I am a cruel person; I can kill everyone if I want to.'
He thought while tightly gripping his hands, surrounding Lily with a sharp bandage of tentacles coming from his body while dust covered the entire place.
With trembling hands and soulless eyes, Khalid stared towards Lily, who was now floating mid-air.
'I can just kill her, but why couldn't I do it? '
He then felt numb for a while before charging towards Lily, but instead of stabbing her from behind, he embraced her in his arms.
"Brother is here. It's okay now..."
He stated, covering her ears with his hands.
Even though he was stabbed multiple times in the back with her spider palps, Khalid did not let go and continued to calm her down, letting Lily find herself deep in the dark, which seemed to have been slowly eaten by the verendus.
Lilibeth had trembled, bawling her eyes out as he called Khalid, who was now hugging her so tight while the spider's was back on her hair that was earlier colored in mud.
"Brother, I'm scared!"
Hearing that with her mellifluous trembling voice, Khalid's expression darkened.
"You've made her suffer enough."
He stated.
"Now it's time for you to rest."
Khalid was startled as he watched the smoke immediately hide in her body.
"You can't kill me; you never will-
-ARGHHHHHH!"
The verendus screamed and sounded like a creep before Lily completely fainted on his arms while the wound that she caused slowly healed, leaving Khalid with a lot of holes in his clothes that were soaked in blood.
He then comes back to his senses when Lily moves her hand in sleep.
"I even put this kid in danger."
He whirled in the air as he gazed back at Akil, who now hadn't even gained consciousness.
Seeing both of them lay on their deathbed had made Khalid rethink his choices.
'No one needs to die this time—'
He then struts outside the tent.
-if there is one...'
He stopped to look at the sky, which was now covered with glistening diamonds from above.
'...That person would be me.'
