The UNSC Infinity flew above the Zeta Ring under attack by the Banished.
Atriox, a warlord Brute led the attack, slaughtering Marines and soldiers alike as hordes of his army, Brutes, Elites, Jackals and Grunts outnumbered the crew of the Infinity.
The Master Chief and Spartan Evangeline, a Spartan-IV, were in the Pelican landing bay, both of them were able to help a few Pelican Dropships make it out alive, including a Pelican with a Spartan that escorted Captain Lasky.
Evangeline commanded her own Pelican but decided to get as many Marines and ODST off the Infinity.
She was about to leave when she saw Atriox making his way towards a distracted Master Chief, Evangeline used her grapple hook to acquire an MA40, and she ran off into the debris.
Her visor scanned for the Chief as she saw explosions and different coloured plasma bolts whizzing all around her, Evangeline aimed her rifle in case any enemies came for her. Her eyes spotted Atriox then her visor alerted her to a broken catwalk above his path so she grabbed a grenade and threw it at the catwalk, the explosion was enough to destroy the support beams and the platform fell in front of Atriox, blocking his path. Evangeline leapt over some debris and shot at him, he quickly shielded his head with his right arm and modified the type 2 gravity hammer he named Chainbreaker as he noticed Evangeline was opening fire on him.
"Another Spartan pest" He growled as he stomped towards her, his grip on his hammer tightened.
Evangeline saw that Atriox had turned to face her, and she kept firing until they were only a few feet away from each other.
That's when Atriox swung Chainbreaker down, Evangeline rolled back just in time, missing a fatal blow to her helmet, her MA40 was crushed by the energized mace but she still wanted to put up a decent challenge for Atriox. As he lifted his mace, Evangeline rushed to his left, trying to find an opening, she saw that Atriox had no armour on his sides so she used her grapple hook to grapple a destroyed scorpion tank. It pulled her fast as she drew a knife, Atriox had a few seconds to swing his mace but Evangeline was already too close. In a split moment as Evangeline was focused on her strike, her arm was grabbed by Atriox's left hand, he then tossed her into a piece of a wall. Evangeline thudded heavily against it as Atriox walked towards her, she looked up and dodged another blow from Atriox but as she recovered, it was too late.
Evangeline saw Atriox swing his mace again but faster, this time it made contact, smashing into her right side, the mace flew up and hit her helmet. Evangeline's vision went dark.
As her vision returned and she heard ringing in her ears, she looked around and saw her MK VII helmet a few feet away from her, the visor was cracked. Her gaze trailed up a little as she saw Atriox picking up the Chief and holding him by the throat, just above the shield that separated the landing bay and the void of space.
She saw the group of Marines and ODST surrounding her, the Marines dragged her towards the Pelican, an ODST carrying her helmet. The last thing Evangeline saw outside was Chief being tossed into the void of space by Atriox as the Pelican's doors closed and flew towards the ring.
Evangeline was hurt but not fatality, a young ODST gave her helmet back as the pilot alerted everyone on board to hang on.
As the Pelican flew towards the ring below, everyone saw that the Infinity, earth's greatest flagship, was plummeting towards the ring.
The Pelican flew down out of control due to the sudden pressure of the ring's atmosphere, the pilot tried to slow it down but to no avail. The last thing everyone saw was a mountain approaching them fast.
