YOU."
Sapphire turned to look at a surprised Roxanne.
"And you," she said.
"What the hell do you want?" Ronald spat.
She smiled, meeting Timothy's eyes from where he stood. "Him. And this house."
"What about me?" Diane asked from Timothy's side to the witch's amusement. Timothy didn't know how they could joke at such a time.
"The both of you."
A chair was suddenly flung at her which she avoided gracefully.
"Get out."
It was the witch whose name Timothy couldn't remember. He had a feeling that Sapphire didn't come without backup, and he was wondering why a fellow witch was attacking his mate. They were the same!
The woman ran towards Sapphire who stayed put, and flung a flower vase at her with her powers, controlling every other thing that could move to hit Sapphire.
Timothy was worried, but Sapphire didn't flinch. She stood in place, muttered a few words which got the woman screaming as she fell to the ground, hands on her head and everything on the floor.
Sapphire side-stepped her figure to walk towards the table.
"Can't believe she's older than me, yet so weak. You should've chosen better," she said with a smile.
Timothy didn't know whether he should talk. He couldn't believe that that ended so quickly. What did she even do to the older witch? What the fuck?
"Why are you doing this?"
Ronald didn't seem alarmed. Maybe he thought he could reason with her or maybe he had some backup.
"I want you dead, that's why," she simply said, smiling. "This is a ground that you've desecrated with your foulness and I can't let you keep being alive. I need to cleanse this place."
Timothy looked at Roxanne and the twins who seemed confused. Did they really not know about the history of the place? It was obvious that it wasn't their home. It was Sapphire's.
Sapphire continued. "You killed my family and my friends, so I need your blood to spill to please them and my ancestors."
She stood, eyes closed as she started chanting some unintelligible words. She paused, hands intertwined. "You're free to attack me before I finish my spell."
Timothy grabbed his sister and they ran towards a corner, far but just enough to see what was going on. Sapphire looked like she had no bother in the world, like she could handle anything.
Someone grabbed the big table and flung it at her, but it simply broke into two without her doing anything. There were other attacks, but it seemed they were worried now.
"Get a dagger!"
"What did you guys do to her family?!"
"There's no time for any explanations!"
"You need to run, Roxy!"
"But-"
"Leave!"
"Somebody do something!"
"Where's the book?!"
There were so many screams and then there was sudden wind in the room, which literally levitated everything in the room. As for the last statement, Diane had sneaked the book into her hands the moment Sapphire made the witch fall down.
Timothy felt anxious, but also sure that Sapphire would be fine. She seemed to be doing way too fine for someone who didn't look powerful.
"What. Do. You. Want?!" he heard Ronald scream.
Sapphire opening her eyes, it was pure white now. "Your blood," she answered in a voice that didn't sound like hers at all. It sounded like multiple people speaking at the same time.
"That's scary," Diane whispered, to which Timothy silently agreed.
He wanted to help out, but didn't know how to. Despite his training, he didn't think he'd be able to do anything. He probably couldn't go against more than two werewolves. Experienced ones, too.
He watched as the twins and Roxanne broke through the glass windows at Roxanne's mother's push. They definitely got away, but Timothy knew Sapphire wouldn't bother with them. She seemed focused on Ronald Maverick.
Timothy and his sister watched as Ronald turned into a werewolf, followed by the others. They were ready to attack, not pleading for mercy and all.
At this point, Timothy didn't know whether to keep silent and watch, especially when he saw the witch that was now behind her, slowly get up. He tried to move, but was pushed back by the wind.
Seeing his helplessness, he shouted, "Behind you!"
She didn't turn to his direction, but she promptly dodged an attack that was directed at her. Then something happened that gave Timothy mixed feelings. One of shock mostly.
Sapphire lit the woman on fire. She didn't even turn to look at her, but her eyes were focused on the now backing werewolves as the witch screamed in pain and turmoil.
"I don't really care for anyone else but the old man, but since you want to join him, I don't mind," she said, gripping the neck of the werewolf that pounced on her and throwing him on the wall, causing a crack.
"How's she so strong? Isn't she a witch?" Diane whispered to him.
"Yes," he whispered back. Things were getting crazy. He didn't know she had such strength. Because there was no way a full werewolf could be manhandled like that.
Every wolf was pushed on the wall by the wind in the room and Sapphire kept silent as she watched her magic suck out almost all, if not all, of the air inside them, making them drop to the ground and then turn back into their human forms. But she simply stood. By then the witch behind her had turned into a pile of ash.
Ronald was still conscious somehow, now on the floor, and now a human. He was naked just like the other unconscious persons, but Sapphire didn't seem to care.
"I have so much that I want to do to you," she said, gripping his chin. She forced him to look at her while he was on his knees.
Timothy never expected the fight to end so abruptly. They were supposedly all powerful, but not to the present Sapphire.
She slapped the man hard, breaking a tooth. The slap was so hard that his face hit the wall with blood spilling, just from the force.
"I should behead you," she muttered. "But I guess that wouldn't be fair. That'd mean you'd be dying peacefully and quickly." She paused and added, "Too quickly."
She grabbed his head again and slapped him harder, making him yell in pain. Each slap made the objects levitating fall down to the ground, one by one. Then she proceeded to punches and kicks.
Then she stopped.
Timothy didn't know whether the old man was dead, but by the lack of yelling and breathing... He was probably just unconscious. Probably.
The wind was no more forceful, everything that was levitating was now shattered on the floor, the white eyes were no more and it was just Sapphire looking at the man in silence. A nudge from his sister made Timothy move out of the corner they were situated. He didn't understand why they were walking towards someone who caused absolute chaos within a few minutes. She needed some time, he was sure.
"Roxanne and the twins escaped," Diane blurted into the silence after a while of them just staring at her.
Sapphire slowly raised her head to look at them. "I'm aware. And I don't care. They're not nearly as important as him."
Timothy found himself trying to meet her eyes so he'd be able to guess how she's feeling. He finally succeeded in meeting hers. Just that though. They both stared at each other in silence, with Timothy looking nervous, thinking about what to say and Sapphire showing no emotion on her face, nor in her eyes.
"I'll go look for Rowen," Diane said, noticing the awkward silence, walking out the door after pushing the book she'd sneaked into her hands to her brother's chest.
Lord Clementine promptly walked in as he looked around with no expression on his face.
He looked at Ronald on the ground silently, the ashes, at the other unconscious people at his feet.
"Should I help with the cleanup?" he asked, to Timothy's surprise.
"Please."
Within less than a minute, two vampires walked in silently and left silently with the bodies.
"In the end, you didn't have to go by yourself, it seems," Lord Clementine said, addressing Timothy.
"Maybe you're right. But you took too long to do anything," Timothy said.
"True." The vampire nodded, then turned to Sapphire. "Remember our deal, Miss Vanity. Just because you're powerful doesn't mean things can't get messier on my people's part."
"I know," Sapphire sighed. "We'll talk about all these later."
"Of course."
"You should put the werewolves in the dungeons that are down. The ones Rowen was talking about."
"My people are doing as you've said. But as for me, I'm leaving for something more important. I suppose I'll see the both of you later then. Goodnight and congratulations on your victory," Lord Clementine said, giving them a nod as he left the room.
Sapphire gave Timothy a small smile as she proceeded walk out after some more silence, leaving him alone in the room. With the chairs broken, table broken, but the book in his hand.
They needed to talk, he knew.
