Chapter 73 - The Soiree

Hearing Emily's words, The perfect image popped into Lola's head, one that involved Emily being in the beautiful seductive dress she had just completed.

"I have the exact description… follow me!", Lola said, before leading the ladies into the fitting room. "Wait right here. Don't. Move.!", Lola said before exiting the room, running in heels, leaving the ladies wondering what she was up to.

The doors opened again, Lola coming inside with a dress that indeed suited the description. " I didn't have a name for this one, but you took the words right out of my mouth!", Lola said as she watched Emily tracing lines on the beautiful dress.

"The beautiful temptation!", Emily whispered before she spoke out loud; "this is exactly what I want!", " I told you!", Lola said. Tessa who remained sitted on the couch checked the time to see that they had a hair and makeup appointment that they would be late for if they didn't complete their business in the next thirty minutes.

"Do we have a dress?", she asked, approaching the ladies who adored the crystal-encrusted dress. " Wow, this is so beautiful!", Tessa admitted. "Yeah, wrap this up Lola, I'm definitely wearing this!", Emily said before Lola went ahead to wrap the dress.

The ladies exited Lola's place before heading over to the hair and makeup appointment they had booked earlier. Being her best friend, Tessa couldn't resist talking to Emily eventually caving in after her thirst for gossip.

In a dimly lit room, the scent of cigars turned the atmosphere putrid as the person continued to smoke stick after stick as he consumed his third glass of beer.

Another man came into the room, turning the lights on soon after, the other man squinting his gaze, his reaction to the lights which were suddenly turned on. The lights revealed the real status of the room, disshelved and thorn apart.Matthew Santos sighed again, it was another of his father's episodes since he had been shoved away from his high.

"Father, you can't keep doing this!", Matthew said, seeing the state of the room. Like every one of his father's episodes, his anger would cause him to turn the room upside down, shattering the vases, kicking the lamps, breaking the glasses, and doing all aorts of things to express his anger.

" You don't tell me what to do, I'm   your freaking father!!!", Liam Santos said as he stood up from the chair where he sat, the only remaining thing his father hadn't ripped apart.

Dresses in his purple robe made out of velvet, Liam Santos fumed as he approached his son. Not even intimidated by his father, Matthew didn't budge as his father screamed at his face, "They didn't get the fucking job done!!, they couldn't even carry out one simple task!", he said, his breath reaking of cigarettes and beer.

"When would you stop father?, this is not healthy!!, it wouldn't do you harm to continue with your business!", Matthew said, pausing between his words to see that his father's attention was somewhere else.

Looking behind him, he saw his father's assistant heading towards them, his iPad in hand. Staring at his son with a questionable glare, Liam Santos left the scattered room, dragging his assistant along with him.

Matthew shook his head as he wondered when his father would stop all the plans he had for an innocent businessman.

Since he had known his father, one thing that was associated with Liam Santos was his ego and the idea that he could have anything he wanted.

He used to be an unrivaled business mogul, dominating most of the sectors as he continued to expand his business. For years he had thought that he would continue to dominate the business world, but he was proved wrong when Walton Globals caught him by surprise.

Headed by Lucas Walton, Walton Globals planted their foothold in most business sectors, strong and firm, unnoticed by the wolves of wall street before his time.

Their growth was rapid and unexpected, stunning most business owners, one of which was Liam Santos. Ever since then, the sales and growth of other companies decreased, in turn giving them a hard time to continue their business, well that was till they were able to find balance with such a competition.

Liam Santos refused to believe that someone who was younger than him, with barely no years of experience could surpass his achievements.

This belief pushed him to things he had gotten too deep in to remove himself, he started drinking and smoking, associating himself to people and institutions he should never had partnered with.

Once a family man, Liam Santos barely even thought about his family, as the only thing that mattered to him was eliminating Walton Globals.

Matthew walked in on his father fuming that another attempt to assassinate Lucas Walton was unsuccessful. Matthew sighed, thinking when his father's obsession with killing Lucas Walton was going to stop.

The same reason he never wanted anything to do with the world of business, his father's scenario popping in his mind as he thought of the saying, " power corrupts!".

Lucas knew that threats like that of Liam Santos would continue to hunt him as long as he stayed at the top of the food chain. Surely, you didn't expect a man with such a huge business to be that stupid when it came to himself and people he loved.

Even Audrey who had taken most of the space in his heart had gotten security details which she was oblivious to.
