Meanwhile, Clarke led Dyoza and her army of poisoners towards Mount Weather in silence as none of them were in any shape or form able to talk thanks to what Leon had done to McCreary. However, Dyoza's curiosity got the better of her, and despite what happened she was genuinely curious about this boy, who had the guts to shoot McCreary without hesitation the moment he threaten Clarke.
And so, after almost an hour of walking, Dyoza's voice cut through the silence. "So, Clarke, tell me more about this Leon. What's his story?"
For a second, Clarke's mind went blank hearing this question, but she then quickly recovered, pondering just how much to divulge. She knew that trust was a fragile commodity in their situation, and she couldn't afford to reveal too much, but if that meant that Madi would be safe, it was worth the risk.
"Well, Leon wasn't exactly the most beloved person when we first met him," Clarke began cautiously. "He had what you can only call a troubled past, and that created a barrier between him and the rest of us, especially with his charges. But circumstances changed, and he stepped up when we needed leadership the most."
As they continued their trek, Clarke recounted Leon's transformation from an outcast to a leader, highlighting the battles he fought to protect their group from the grounders and other threats. She explained how his determination and resilience won the respect of many, including herself.
"And then after the Praimfaya," Clarke hesitated, her voice softening, "something unexpected happened. Despite Leon being in a relationship with another girl, we fell in love."
"Love, huh? Even when he was committed to someone else?"
Clarke nodded, keeping her eyes on the road ahead. "Yes, it was complicated. Leon had strong feelings for the other girl, but what we had was different. It wasn't just about choosing one person over another. It was about finding a connection that transcended the circumstances we were in. He made a choice, and it wasn't just about love; it was about finding solace and hope amidst the chaos."
Dyoza remained silent for a moment, thinking about what Clarke had to her about this Leon. Though, for the most part, he was still a mystery, with little to no actual information about him in her head, almost as if Clarke was either avoiding the subject or maybe he was just too dangerous to have him as an enemy and she was trying to safe her and her band of prisoners from a fate worse than death.
"You know, Clarke, I can respect someone who is willing to make difficult choices," Dyoza finally responded, "However for me, what you and he has is called love, but what he and the other girl had was only physical attraction at best, otherwise he wouldn't have betrayed her trust like this."
Listening to Dyoza's words, made Clarke quite conflicted about everything related to Leon and Raven's relationship. And while Leon told her that she shouldn't worry about this, Clarke fears that maybe, just maybe what she had done was a mistake. Dyoza's perspective made her question if Leon really loved Raven or if just wanted to sleep with him, which in all honesty was a good reason.
After what felt like an eternity of walking, the group finally reached the main entrance of Mount Weather. Dyoza's men immediately went to work, utilizing their mining weapons to clear the rubble and rocks that blocked their path. Meanwhile, Clarke and Dyoza stood at the entrance, watching as the prisoners worked diligently to make way for their arrival. At the same time, Clarke was quite curious why Dyoza was searching for a medic, considering that she seem to be injured or in any kind of pain. Besides, she doubts it's for that bastard, who threatens her. Then again from what little she saw, the whole group was kind of divided between Dyoza and McCreary, with McCreary having the most control over the prisoners.
As the prisoners worked diligently to clear the main entrance of Mount Weather, Clarke's anticipation grew. She couldn't help but feel both excited and nervous, as the thought of finally reuniting with her mother, keep appearing in her mind. It had been over five long years since she had last seen her, and the longing to be in her mother's presence was almost unbearable, especially with how many things she wanted to tell her.
While she managed to talk with Abby over the radio back at the Second Dawn bunker, it was never enough to truly fill the void left by their physical separation. Those five years apart had taken its toll, and Clarke yearned for that familiar embrace, the comforting voice, and the reassurance that only a mother could provide.
Every time some of the debris got cleared, Clarke's heart raced in anticipation. She couldn't wait to step inside and finally hug her mother, as well as all of her friends. And after half an hour the entrance had finally been cleared revealing the armored door that led inside the mountain.
With every step closer to the door, Clarke could feel her emotion going into override as her excitement grew, until suddenly, the doors swung open, revealing twenty armed soldiers led by Sergey and Zoe. The sight shocked both Clarke and Dyoza, for different reasons. The unexpected show of force raised a barrage of questions in Dyoza's mind. Why were there soldiers stationed here? Had Clarke led her into a trap? Or was this, all along, their plan to lead them into a military base?
At the same time, Clarke's eyes darted between Sergey and Zoe, searching for answers, but their stoic expressions revealed nothing. Yes, both of them were the best fighters they had and frankly, both of them only listen to Leon, but for god's sake she was their friend, so why do they still keep their guns aimed at them?
"Monroe! It's me, Clarke!"
However, Clarke's heart sank as Zoe's harsh words cut through the air. "Clarke and Leon died five years ago," she snapped back in anger, almost as if Clarke's words were making fun of them. But her words, hit Clarke like a punch to the gut, leaving her stunned. She couldn't fathom why Zoe, her friend, would say such a thing. Was this some kind of sick joke? Or had something truly gone wrong in their absence?
Dyoza turned to Clarke unsure of what to believe any longer. "What the hell is going on, Clarke? Why are there armed soldiers here? And why do they believe you and Leon are dead?"
