With Octavia's confirmation, we waited for a few more seconds before the banging got faster and faster until they managed to grab one of the wardrobes, desperately trying to rip it apart just like they did to the door. At this point, there was no reason for us to wait here any longer, and instead of simply increasing the chances of us getting injured or worse captured by them, we both got ready to tear the barricade.
As soon as the barricade shook once more, we each grabbed a part of it before tearing it down. We didn't stand and watched afterward, as we quickly run down the hallway, around the corner into the hall where the water trap was waiting for us. Since Octavia was supposed to be the bait, I just run just a little bit faster than her, not wanting to be caught in the water or worse become the reason our plan failed, so without wasting any more time, I quickly reached the other side of the trap where my friends and Pike were waiting in ambush. Sadly, there was no time for us to talk, instead, Sergey handed me two shock batons, before grabbing two more from Miller. A few seconds later, Octavia comes to a stop in the water, right beside a crate, and Pike motions to each of us, instructing us to aim for a crate each, hoping to maximize the damage.
It didn't take them long to remove the barricade as we all heard the makeshift defense hitting the ground before the entire chipped army charged down the hallway towards the throne room with Kane and Wells in the lead. Going according to Pike's plan, Octavia lifts her hands in surrender as soon as she sees them.
"Wait, Kane. I give up, I'll take the chip, please get rid of my suffering! "
Thankfully, or at least I think so, A.L.I.E wasn't directly controlling Kane otherwise I don't think that he alongside his army would step into the water just like that, after all despite everything that happens because of her, A.L.I.E was still an A. I thus have more time than every one of us together to figure out a trap when she sees one.
"Good, no one else has to die, ever. Maybe you can even convince your mentor of that. She's still refusing true salvation."
"Indra's alive?"
"Yes. She's outside, on the cross, suffering needlessly for nothing more than pride, something that in the end leads to death unlike what we offer."
Meanwhile, while she was angry that her mentor was being tormented outside, Octavia waited for the last man steps into the water, and when every single chipped person was wet, she shouted as hard as she could. "NOW!"
Right when we all heard her shout, we jumped into action, lighting up the shock batons at the same time as we came around the corner. Just in time to see Octavia jump onto her box, to safety and away from all the water, as we all jump onto our safety crates, avoiding the water, before tossing the shock batons into the water, watching as the A.L.I.E's minions fall straight into Pike's plan. Sadly for them, by the time Kane realized that everything was a trap, it was already way too late for them to react in time as the batons fell into the water, shocking all of them as they groaned in pain before falling unconscious in the water, hopefully, no one would drown before A.L.I.E defeated. Thankfully, whoever made those shock batons gave them the function to automatically shut off after they enter into contact with water, making it safe for us to quickly jump down from our crates.
"Hurry up. Let's get their weapons before they woke up."
Like some professional thieves we got all of their guns, knives, pipes, and tools, leaving them with nothing other than their fists to fight us, which let's be honest was the best thing we could do for them. With the chipped army disarmed, I alongside Octavia head back to the throne room, dumping the weapons as far away from the door as possible. Just as I was about to leave the room, I saw Octavia standing in the middle of the room petrified by something and as soon as I followed her gaze, I blinked in surprise. Clarke had Nightblood flowing out of her nose while Ontari was looking even worse than before since her chest was cracked open, and Murphy stood there, manually pumping her heart keeping the blood flowing so that our princess can kill A.L.I.E. before the Nightblood kills her.
Seeing the looks on our faces, Abby decided to enlighten us before we start shouting bloody murder at her. "Ontari's heart was falling, and Clarke wasn't getting enough Nightblood. However, not that John is pumping her heart, there's no need to worry any longer about that, as long as he can keep keeping her heart alive."
A few seconds later, the rest of the guys came as well closing the door behind them. "Abby, we bought you as much time as we could, but the chipped army is going to be here soon. With Kane in the lead nevertheless…I hope that whatever Clarke's doing is working otherwise…We might not see the next sunrise."
Bellamy and the others barricade the door with anything they could get their hands on, mostly furniture, piling it high and deep, and hoping to slow down the chipped army that was now on the other side, banging against the doors repeating the same thing they had done to the commander's room. When the banging intensified, everyone other than Pike and Abby looked at me, expecting me to say something, and while I wasn't exactly the best one for this, morale was one of the most important aspects of a healthy group.
"We have done everything we could to slow them down until now! However, that didn't stop A.L.I.E. for that long. Nevertheless, we need to keep Clarke safe, give her time to find the kill switch, and end this whole thing. Our enemy is unarmed and sadly, for us, they won't feel pain, meaning that they won't stop until they're out cold. While I know that it isn't exactly the right thing to do if they manage to slip past us, the first line of defense, I want you guys to shoot, everything that passes by. Give them no mercy! "
Miller grabbed two pipes before tossing one to Sergey as both of them made their way next to me. "Copy that. We are going for the knockout."
Bellamy also joined alongside his sister while Bryan and Pike remained behind aiming their rifles at the door, getting ready to cover or save us, depending on how many get inside in the next couple of waves.
As soon as the barricade fell, two grounders run straight towards Sergey and me, as a few more were trying to squeeze through the gap these two made. Before one of the grounders that choose me as his opponent could even grab me, I punched him in the chest as hard as I could sending him flying two or three meters before landing unconscious on the floor. Sadly, for me, as soon as he hits the ground, another man took his place, this one from Arkadia. He tried to swing a punch at me, however just as the punch was about to connect, I duck beneath it, swiping his feet and knocking the man on his back. I quickly stood up before kicking the man in the face, hard enough to knock him out cold, before another pair of chipped minions attacked me. Just as the pair was about to attack, something heavy flew into them sending both of the chipped minions into the wall. Since there were, no more grounders coming after me I quickly glanced to my right side only to see Sergey showing me a thumb up before bashing the head of a woman into the wall.
Seeing that, I could only shake my head and smile, before turning my attention back to the entrance, watching Wells stroll in. However before he could walk further from the door, a chair flew from behind me, hitting the boy in the head, and knocking the daylight out of him. All of us turned, only to see Octavia staring back at us confused at hell as to why we were glancing at her. Unfortunately, we had to fight again as more and more people were purring inside the room from the gap. A few more grounders knocked out later, Kane walked into the room as if he was some kind of the last boss in a video game. As soon as I hit, I run forward, swinging the pipe at his side, but unlike what I thought he would do, Kane stepped back before knocking the weapon from your hand with his leg. Just as I was about to attack him again, four grounders threw themselves at me, dragging me to the floor. As more and more of those chipped hippies start attacking me, I knew that everything I said about knocking them out was no longer an option. While I had no desire to be a savior or become a mass murderer, more than I was already, killing my way out of this blob of people on top of me was the only way I could rejoin the fight.
"Kane! I'm coming for you!"
Before A.L.I.E could react, three of her minions died, each missing their head. For a split second, none of the chipped people reacted, however as soon as another pair of people flew out with a hole the size of a fist where their heart was supposed to be hit the floor was the moment, Kane, for the first time since he had become chipped felt fear. He tried to ignore what was happening in the circle, however, when a head landed at his feet, even A.L.I.E. who was fighting both us and Clarke alike didn't know what to do against something like this. Surprisingly enough, he pushed forward tackling Bellamy, before pining him to the floor.
As soon as I finish getting rid of all of the grounders that were holding me down, I turn back looking for Kane, only to see Bellamy pinned beneath Kane, getting punched over and over. Just as Kane was about to hit Bellamy again, I kicked him as hard as I could in the back sending Kane flying off of Bellamy. Thanks to the chip he didn't feel the pain, however just as he was about to attack me, Octavia jumped on his back punching the ex-chancellor in the gut until both of them fell to the ground. Once Octavia got on her feet we both nodded at each when suddenly, Kane, who we thought was knocked out pulled a knife from his leg holster before plunging it into Octavia's side. Blood instantly pours from beneath her shirt, dripping onto the floor below. While we weren't in any kind of way in a romantic relationship, I still consider Octavia a good friend, and seeing her like this made me take the matter into my own hand.
As I was about to punch him, before ending his sorry state, when out of nowhere he dropped the knife, before falling to his knees, guilt written all over his face. He looked at me for a second before he slowly crawled towards Octavia, holding in his left hand a piece of his own shirt that he had cut as soon as he regained his control. After he shakily put pressure on Octavia's wound, I walked beside him and reach out and grab his shoulder.
"It wasn't you, Kane. It was A.L.I.E."
To be fair, I don't think he was even listening at this point. Kane just stood there frozen while keeping the pressure on the wound, as if he was remembering everything he had done while under A.L.I.E's control. Just as I was about to reach out for him again, Octavia pointed with her head towards the throne.
"Clarke!"
She saw us and showed us a sad smile, not looking at all like someone who had just saved the world. "A.L.I.E's gone, Leon. She's gone for good."
"And yet, you're not acting like someone who just saved the world. "
She turns and looks between all of us before she let out a sigh. "Because we didn't. At least not yet. There's still something we have to do."
