Chapter 100 - Chapter 99 : Orders are orders

One day since he told me to investigate Kane and yet, Pike didn't call me to today's meeting for some reason. Not that it was a problem, however, it seems that my guess was proven true, Pike and Hannah think that I'm the other traitor.

Rather than being a complete idiot and charging right into the room demanding an explanation as to why I was part of the meeting, I decided to wait for my good old friend Bellamy to walk out of the room before I make my move. Even better would be to catch him outside where he won't be able to react as if I was going to kill him or something similar.

Four long hours later, I saw him and Hannah walking toward what I guess was the newly build armory. As soon as Monty's mother went inside, I approach Bellamy.

I don't know why, but it took him a few good seconds to calm himself down when he saw me walking toward him before he finally turned to face me like a man. Whatever the reason might be for his scared demeanor, I hope it wasn't related to me being one of the suspected traitors that worked with Kane and helped Octavia escape with the information that killed two soldiers.

"What's with the sudden scare, Bellamy? Did Pike tell you something while I wasn't invited to his get-to-gather party?"

"No, it's nothing like that… They think you are a traitor and I…I don't know what to feel. You are my friend, probably the only one who understood my burden and stood by my side and yet here I am contemplating if you are an enemy or an ally…"

"And yet here I stand, talking with you like I always do. So tell me what makes you think that I would ever become your enemy? Pike is right to some degree to think that there are traitors in the camp, however, I'm not a traitor like he believes, if I was one, neither you nor he would have lived past the first day since he become the chancellor."

H didn't seem amused by my words, but it still earned me a smile from him. More than enough for me to understand he was still the old Bellamy and not some puppet that only listen to Pike.

"Even if you did help my sister escape or at least saw her doing it, I'm thankful that you hadn't informed the guards. She would have been dead if that happened."

"C'mon Bellamy, don't be a jerk right now. You won't get anything from me so better forget about it. Now let's talk about Pike's orders, or you aren't allowed to tell me?"

"Sorry Leon, but I can't."

"Worth the shot. I believe that means that from now on all future plans won't concern me, either, because I'm still a suspect, right?"

"It's just a precaution, Leon. Even if you aren't the traitor, I still don't want to risk it. I hope you understand me."

"A precaution against traitors, huh? It's kind of a bad way of getting the traitor out. Wouldn't it have been easier to let the information slip out and from there see who heard it and send it forward to Kane?"

"Well, I'm not Pike to make the rules."

"I believe you. After all, you aren't bald yet."

"However, he wants you to go to Mount Weather. I don't know all the details, but it seems like the coalition has sent a rather huge army to occupy it, thus cutting our forward outpost out of the main camp, as well as our trump cards. So what do you say?"

"Well…can I even refuse at this point?"

"Not really."

I could see how badly he wanted to say that I have a choice here, but even a blind person could see the truth. In the end, he decided to say the truth rather than sweeten the way Pike decided to send me away as a precaution and at the same hoping that I might fall in battle against the grounders.

The next day, I escorted by a whole squad walked inside the rover. Looking at Pike's loyal soldiers I could only sigh to myself. No one could help "the resistance"... Not even Raven, the girl who was the only one who understand me better than anyone. If Pike found out that she or I find out that we are doing something against him, he would undoubtedly have us executed to keep the order and make us an example. To be fair I don't know if I wanted to let Pike use the missiles, sure it'd probably keep the coalition away from us for the time being, but that means that we would be permanently surrounded and stuck within Arkadia or Mount Weather with little to no chance of fighting back... The coalition would probably try to starve Arkadia out by denying them access to Mount Weather and vice versa. Moreover, while the bunker could function without Arkadia, the power plants won't work without engineers that know how to maintain them.

Besides, Pike wasn't exactly the sanest man either, who knew if he'd turn the missiles upon his own people in a moment of madness just like he does right now. The only good thing about this whole situation was that he lacks the necessary codes to use those said missiles. Sadly for him, the only people that know these codes are Finn and me, and maybe Raven, though I don't know if she remembered those numbers. Since Finn is out of the equation and I don't plan to give him a weapon of mass destruction, his only hope of using those missiles is Raven and Sinclair, who both don't exactly like the way Pike wants to use those said weapons.

Regardless, now I was sent to Mount Weather where I would not be able to help Kane any longer, thus making his plan of getting Pike off the leadership position even harder. By the time we reached Mount Weather, it was already past midday and the sun was slowly setting down. If that wasn't all, the whole way toward the mountain we heard the war drums of those grounders resonating in the whole forest as if they were warning us of an impending attack.

As soon we made it inside, I went straight to the room I had before leaving this place and crashed for the rest of the day, nothing knowing that this might be the last I have a good sleep.

The next day, I was sitting in the control room with Raven, Wells, and Sinclair trying to figure out why there was a shortage of power in some areas when out of nowhere one of the guards rushed inside the room, panic was written all over his face.

"The grounders, they're coming! Hundreds of them!"

Just as I was about to rush out of the room and towards the armory, Raven caught my hand. She was worried, something wasn't exactly usual for her, then again, while she knew I had feelings for her, she didn't want to get into a relationship, at least not so soon after she and Collins broke up, she still cared about me a little more than a friend.

"Don't do anything reckless out there."

"Don't worry, Tinky, as long as you want me to live, I'll stay alive."

"Next time choose a less cringe sentence, muscle head."

When I arrived at the armory, twenty people were already gearing up for the upcoming fight down in the tunnels. Even though I was one of the last ones to get there, it seems that my past deeds earned me more than enough gratitude and respect from these people, for them to keep a rifle, some combat gear, and ammo for me.

"Oh God is this really happening... Are we really going to fight the grounders?"

Looking at the girl who spoke, I recognized her as the girl Sterling and us saved quite a few months ago. Before I could wonder where he was, I saw him in the corner of the room, in a similar state as her, albeit taking it a little better, since he was one of the survivors of the first war.

Most if not all of them were in a similar state and that wasn't doing any good to anyone, especially before a fight that could be our last. As much as I would love to leave this someone else, the truth was that other than me, there was no one inside the Mountain that had the same experience against the grounders as I had. When all of them were geared up and with a weapon in hand, I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to make them less nervous and maybe just maybe increase our chances against the incoming grounder force.

"Most of you know me, but for those of you, who don't know, my name is Leon Kennedy and I've killed more grounders than I can remember. To be honest, our situation is not so good. We are outnumbered, we have limited ammunition and if that was worse enough, they have the manpower to throw at our bullets. However, there's also a good thing in all of this shithole. They are attacking through the tunnels where they would be restricted. If we use our advantage right, we would be able to hold them off long enough for Arkadia to send reinforcements. I don't expect any of you to become a hero or to hold the whole enemy army by themselves. What I need is people that listen to orders. If we stand together, we would win."

By the time we reached the door that led to the tunnels, we could already hear the gunfire of the guards sent by Pike to bring me here already fighting against the grounders. Not wasting a second, I ordered the soldiers at any sandbag or metal barrier that Pike put in place in case the bunker was being attacked. Thankfully his men managed to erect those defenses prior to this attack otherwise everything would have been even harder than it was already.

With the soldiers placed in key positions in the tunnel so, they were able to easily fire upon any grounder that came through, without putting our allies that were in front at risk. I hope that the grounders would simply charge through the tunnels rather than try to starve us to no avail. Then again, from experience, the grounders were exactly the best tacticians against guns.

Just outside the tunnel, a tall man clad in metal armor was looking at his warriors. His name was Kall, the eldest son of the leader of the boudalan(rock line).

Around him were many warriors wearing similar makeshift armor as he, most wielding swords or bows. As Kall was getting ready to attack, one of his captains walked to him, looking anything but ready to die for the coalition.

"We've surrounded both entrances, there's no way they would leave through either way without significant losses. Moreover, we have enough supplies to starve them out, hopefully without losing a warrior. I suggest starving them out, after all, we need every single warrior if Azgeda attacks the coalition."

Kall scoffed at his captain's suggestion. Not only was that idiot suggesting letting the enemy live, but even wasting their time by sitting around the entrance doing nothing but waiting was worse than dying, especially when the rest of the Skykru were still living comfortably in their primary camp.

"If we try to starve them out, we'll only waste our troops and supplies for nothing. Before Skykru took over, the mountain men lived for many years without going outside, do you think they won't do the same? The commander's orders were clear, eliminate any trace of Skykru from the mountain and from their camp. We have enough on our plate with Azgeda and their suspicious raids... Prepare the warriors we are storming this place."

"Many would die if we attack them through the tunnels."

"Moreover, many would die if we let them live. Get ready or you'll die!"
