Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 - Before we go in

Just as I was about to leave the room, Raven's radio suddenly caught something.

"Guys! Quickly!"

[This is Nathan Miller. I repeat this is Nathan Miller. Leon, Clarke, or whoever can listen to this message, we need your help! We are still trapped inside Mount Weather, but we don't know how much time we have left until they start killing us. Please help us!]

"Can we talk with them?"

"No, it's on repeat. Most likely they did it as a last resort…"

"Wait, Raven, if we hear this…

"…then Mt. Weather can also hear it. We have to hurry."

"First, we need an inside man to help raise our hidden army." As soon as we heard Clarke's words, both Bellamy and I turned toward her. She looked up at us and nodded. "I know that you two have talked about it and even though to do it if this alliance failed, and sadly I have to admit that you two are right. Without someone on the inside to lower their defenses, and turn off the acid fog, our army is useless, but at the same time I don't want to force either one of you to take this risk, especially when you can die if they found you."

"Clarke, that will only get them killed!"

"No, Raven, we have to do this if we want to have a chance against Mt. Weather. I know that it's hard, but I almost lost Finn and I know how it is to feel that you lost someone important, but I choose to believe in them."

"I … just…"

"Take my map, it would help you two find what you need inside Mount Weather."

Rather than continuing their argument, Clarke passed me the sheet of paper where she mapped the whole bunker when she was a prisoner.

"Find a way to get on that radio and talk to us, and guys, good luck!"

Suddenly Lincoln opened his mouth, scaring Octavia, who didn't want her lover to walk inside that place again.

"I can get you through the tunnels and even bring you two to the door."

"No, Lincoln you can't go there again! You aren't completely treated yet!"

Before the grounder could say anything to defend himself, Raven took me and Bellamy away from the couple.

"When you two are inside, find the radio that Miller used to contact us as well as the place where their jamming system is. If we can disable the jammer from inside, we will get access to long-range communications, so if you two can do that as well that would help us a lot."

Seeing that Raven wasn't going to leave, Bellamy realizes that for the first time since he arrived down here he was the third wheel and before Raven or I could say anything he walk away. When she was sure that Bellamy was away and no one was near us, Raven hugged me. I was about to say something, but suddenly I felt a punch hitting my chest. I was surprised as anyone in my position would be, but rather than doing something stupid, I simply let her vent her anger on me as I gently hugged her.

After what seemed to be an eternity, Raven took a step back, before she looked me dead in the eyes. "Tell me, Leon, why are you always rushing to be a fucking hero? What do you want to prove? That you are better than everyone else?"

I didn't know what to say. Was I always like that? The answer is no…at first, I wanted to prove that I wasn't a monster like a council glorified me, but slowly, I've become that typical hero type of guy that would do everything possible just for the sake of it.

"What? Did I strike your sensible ego? "

No answer again. This time though Raven got worried thinking that her words may have hurt me more than she desire, before she could approach me, I straighten my back and then I look at her.

"You are right Raven. Since I was sent here, I did everything to prove that I'm something different than a monster. Instead, I just did the opposite. I slaughter grounders like it was nothing, I led our people to war and won most of the fights, but in the end, everything I did was so that people would see different from what I was on the Ark."

"You are different from back then. The Leon from the past wouldn't have admitted what you have just said, not even if his life depended on it. You've changed and thankfully into a better version, one that's slowly … Never mind, listen, Leon, I won't stop since I know that you want to help our friends, but you have to be careful when you and Bellamy go inside. Other than Clarke and Anya, we don't know how many people and what kind of weapons they possess."

"Don't worry Tinky. I don't plan to die just yet."

"Tinky?"

"Well, Tinker Belle is kind of a long nickname."

"Oh, God you have defiantly changed. Just go, Leon."

"See you later, Tinky."

Raven stared at me and said nothing as I was making my way towards Bellamy and Lincoln, but she knew that I had a vague idea about what she wanted to say.

"Don't you dare die!"

I didn't stop nor did I turn my head to her, fearing that I may choose to remain behind than to risk my life and save our friends. As I was trying to forget about my dilemma, I didn't even realized when I arrived beside Lincoln and Bellamy, who were waiting for some reaper outfits to be delivered by the grounders to us.

"Ready to face the mountain?"

"As ready as one can be."
