The next day would come without any problems.
It was a week before the school festival and everyone had begun to vote for what should we do.
Najimi and Hoshoujo were in the front, listing down all the booths that the class had suggested.
Najimi had been the one speaking while Hoshoujo took care of the writing on the board.
It was chaotic, with everyone wanting to add more options, they had two narrow it down to five which were, Maid Cafe, Host Club, Art Museum, Horror Attraction, or a Theatre Play.
Najimi: [Alright. In order, so we can choose from these five, we will vote the majority for elimination.]
Somehow, I knew that would be the last two would have to be chosen.
With the number of girls in the glasses being far too bigger than the boys in our class, I assumed that the Host Club or Theatre Play would come out on top.
I thought of that and it indeed happened.
Most of the girls didn't want to wear maid clothing as they didn't want Najimi to see them as mere servants, but rather, they wanted to see him become a Host if possible.
They've been reading too many hosts' club-orientated mangas if that's the case.
I voted for the Horror Attraction but that got thrown in the bin in the first round. But there was a reason for that.
The Horror Attraction would be good but the school placed it under heavy restriction by putting dim lights and having students leave their things outside.
Why? Because the murder of the Literature Club member happened inside a Horror Attraction.
To be precise, I heard it personally from Shiraishi after the day the school was almost in ruins.
I had her tell me the whole story from start to finish, and with that, everything was beginning to form a single picture.
The murder happened around the time of the school festival, exactly in the clubroom. But why the Horror Attraction you say?
It was because the Literature Club gained permission to create a Horror Attraction inside their club.
But with the limited space they had in the club, they had to open up the doors that connected them to another empty room, which became the storage room for that club now.
The member who got killed was one of the scarers, and until the day had ended, no one noticed that someone had been killed inside.
Everyone had thought that the blood and the corpse were part of it, and with adrenaline and flickering lights that had made them run, they couldn't smell the blood that dripped down the corpse.
They were stabbed to death, dying with eyes wide open.
Of course, the school had to tame this case for quite a while, silence their parents to retain their names while they tried to catch the culprit that is still on the loose today.
There were no fingerprints left around the victim which I will name Ougi.
Ougi was killed without a trace. The suspect could be one of the students as it was primarily known that Ougi was notorious for actively riling people up with his writing that involved them.
Some say that it could be because of a girl but no one was able to say exactly who.
That's what I was able to gather while I had trained Migi, but maybe I'm looking at the picture a bit too narrow.
Najimi: [Alright. That's it. We're going for...]
Ah shit. I got too deep thinking. I didn't vote for the last rounds! We should have at least gone for the Theatre Play!
Najimi: [With just a one-point difference, Host Club wins...]
Mendou: [...Yikes.]
That's my utmost fear. I can't believe that we're doing that. I'm sure that Najimi himself wouldn't want himself to be put out there cause of all of the girls that would be over him.
If I voted, I could have prevented this, right?
But whatever, this could be a good chance.
**
During that whole week of preparation for the school festival, clubrooms would be far less crowded.
Clubs aren't mandatory after all so we would be able to focus on the upcoming school festival.
All the while, all of the boys in our class already had suits that they can wear for the host club.
Even Najimi's mother was proud to hear that her son would be pretending to be a host in the school festival, but is that something to be proud of?
In any case, I'm the only one who doesn't have a suit to wear and asking Najimi out too but some is not one of the ideal ways to do it.
Najimi doesn't have a keen sense of picking what is good for others in a fashionable sense! I can already expect that he will say anything I wear is good enough!
I might be acting as a side character here but can you at least let me not look lame?
Mendou: [Geez. What do I do now? Should I just go and head to the mall to buy some or...]
The school festival would start tomorrow and today will be the last chance I get to buy. It's Sunday so there might not be as many students in the mall that would be of concern when buying.
But still, buying stuff without consulting anyone is hard. I don't even have a good sense of fashion myself. I said harsh things about Najimi earlier but to think that we're just actually the same...
Mendou: [Sigh.... huh?]
I sighed before looking at my phone which began to ring.
The number belonged to Migi so I answered pretty quickly. I've trained him over for a week as well so there might be something he might want to ask.
Mendou: [Heya! Are you working on those tasks I gave you?]
Migi: [Yeah. I've done them. Anyways, the reason I called is that I've noticed that you haven't brought your suit to the school before. Do you have one yet?]
Wait, with just that kind of hint he assumed that I didn't have a suit? That's kind of suspicious and convenient for him.
Mendou: [Well, yeah. I didn't know how to pick a suit so I wasn't really...]
Migi: [Well, great timing. I asked Mayu to go buy me something as well but she needs at least someone she knows that would accompany her. Hoshoujo's bodyguards would be also accompanying you guys but I doubt that you'd need them, right?]
Mendou: [Don't be too sure, you bastard. Haven't I drilled that enough in your head? Maybe you need another one of those lessons.]
Migi: [H-Hahaha! I'm kidding! You can have her help you as well today. I'll be finishing that task you gave me today after all.]
Mendou: [Good. But, how come you were able to convince her to go out and do your errand? Don't you think it's cruel for her?]
Migi: [W-Well, I thought so too but she's the one who wanted to do it. She said she wanted to at least be the stylist and help with the host club so... I'm asking you for a favor in exchange.]
Mendou: [Agh. I don't even have a choice, do I? Alright. Besides, she can help me pick out a suit. Where is she at?]
Migi: [Uh... Probably at your doorstep.]
After I heard that, a shudder would go straight down my spine as I rushed to the doon, opening it.
Mayu: [Took ya damn long to open up!]
Mendou: [What's wrong with you guys showing up unannounced at my doorstep? I'm not some secret hideout for a bunch of school kids!]
Mayu was outside the door with a few bodyguards following her. After I opened the door she quickly dragged me along, to the limousin that seemed all too familiar.
And just as I expected.
Hoshoujou: [Was that Migi on the phone?]
Mendou: [I thought you were going to work on the school non-alcoholic drinks?]
Hoshoujo: [I said that because I have a bartender at home and not because I'd do it myself, besides, don't answer a question with another.]
Hoshoujo was inside, crossing her legs as Mayu sat down beside her.
I can't believe that I'm getting dragged along instead of being helped.
Mendou: [What do you guys even need from me? Why—]
Mayu: [Your friend Najimi here, has been worried that ya haven't bought a coat for yourself. Migi noticed as well, and so they both came to us and requested our help. Besides, we've been told that your sense of fashion when it comes to formal wear is terrible! I cannot let you be part of the host club looking like a bum!]
Wow, that hurt like a storm. I can't dress casually in a host club? Is that how it works?!
Also, the reason why I haven't bought a suit for so long was that I was inspecting the school left and right for clues regarding the murder but nothing came up.
But I do know that the murder and the nightmares happening in the school were connected.
Hoshoujo: [Look at him, spacing out again. Should we slap him?]
Mendou: [W-Wait! I'm not!]
Mayu: [You better be attentive or we'll make you stand for a long time there. So, call us ma'am starting now for we will make you a better host for tomorrow.]
I've just noticed but, Mayu and Hoshoujo seem to be on good terms with each other.
I haven't been paying much attention to them but it looks like they're cooperating.
But I guess their hostility just turned to me, which is not ideal for me as well.
Mendou: [Y-Yes, ma'am.]
