CHAPTER 8
Meanwhile, at Xavier's domain, Raven conclusively took her time to study the room after Xavier had left since she failed to eat the meal he brought her.
Not that she cared for it, as dragons could stay longer without food than any other normal being.
However, what she was most concerned about was fleeing from here as she frantically tapped her fingers at the edge of the bed.
She knew the type of father she had and was pretty aware that he would not rest until he got her back, which obviously meant risking his life to save her.
The idea of him coming here already made her restless as she shook the unacceptable thought away.
Rather than wait for death to come upon the only family she had left, she wished to do the needful.
'I caused this. It is left for only me to fix it.' She strictly finalized in her mind.
With her thoughts settled, Raven walked over to the center of the room and kept her eyes shut as she lifted both hands in front of her.
She gently exercised her neck and shoulders till she heard a cracking sound and smiled.
'Here goes nothing.'
Opening her eyes, she concentratedly directed her powers to her fingertips and immediately, flames burst out and were directed at the window.
To her surprise, however, rather than destroying the window, it was met with a force and instantly a blue hue resonated around the room, revealing the protective barrier he had her locked in with.
Her brows arched up in pure stupefaction to the barrier, forcing the corners of her lips to drop as with her smile.
"You have got to be kidding me," her shoulders slouched in exhaustion.
"Fair," she straightened back. "If dragon's flame can't do the trick then spell it is."
Raven tilted her head a bit and cracked her knuckles. This time around, she was ready for business.
Her eyes briefly dropped to a close as she outwardly pushed her palms forward while her lips parted to chant out the words.
"Kertio vermu tospri de'r mior."
A sharp blue light flashed in her irises and then a similar colour danced around her fingertips as the light shone directly at the barrier.
Raven pushed on, sharply sending her powers at it in full force.
Some minutes passed but nothing changed.
Instead, the curtains fluttered to the endearing wind seeping in from outside but other than that, everything in the room felt the same.
The only change was the sweat that broke forth at the side of her face.
She dropped her hands in a loud huff, before biting on her lower lips as she tried to think of another way.
"Okay, perhaps I should try wind magic. Maybe with that, I would be able to break free seeing as the wind can still enter this room. This must be it!"
Exclaiming silently at her own genius idea, she straightened her back once more, outwardly pushing her hands forward again as she got ready for the next attack.
This time around, her eyes shone an orange hue as did the light that displayed on her fingertips when she changed the spell she used.
In the end, she was met with the same result.
Raven grunted out low when she saw nothing she did work.
"Arrgh! That damn king!" She cursed out. "How dare he keep me trapped?"
Nevertheless, despite the anger and annoyance building at her constant failure, she remained unyielding and tried again.
For each time she tried a new attack, the colour of her irises changed as did her powers and the force from them.
She spent the next few hours trying again and again only to frustratingly end up with the same result.
By now several sweat drops flowed freely down her face to her neck and even within her clothes. Regardless, Raven did not stop.
Her chest heaved up and down with great effort as she snarled at the barrier each time she failed.
Never in her life had she felt so helpless about something.
At this point, she regretted not doing everything in her power to study all of her father's dragon magic books.
Perhaps then she may have stood a chance against Xavier and his sly tricks.
"Fine then," Raven began. She ignored the fact her eyes shone a brighter red and her wings instantly came out.
Her transformation was quick as she readied herself using whatever last bit of strength she had left in her to burst out of this hold.
Hovering over her right hand danced very big flames like any she had managed to conjure and on her left, a big red ball like a rock glowing with red energy.
"Since you want me to go all out, do not blame me if I ruin your palace."
Her body swirled with the red light emanating from within but that wasn't enough.
She declared she was going all out and she meant every bit of it.
With each second passing, a different colour of light exuded from her body, forming a spiral of energy around her.
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, brown… The colours danced in harmony, giving her all of their powers as they radiated on the flame and power attack.
"Crioskie meht vorte scheish vam…. Rahh!"
She pulled both hands back with great effort, gritting her teeth as she sent them forth with all she got, directing them at the wall.
If the other attacks didn't break through the barrier prior, then this was definitely going to break through, so she thought.
BOOM!
A deafening roar resounded the second her powers surged out against the barrier but the moment it did, an equally powerful force was sent at her, flinging her away as her body landed hard against the opposite wall.
As though that wasn't enough, the barrier sent her flying across the room, till she came to a flop and landed face down on the ground.
She had forgotten the laws of action and reaction and hit the barrier with all of her strength, leaving her with little to nothing to guide her against the counterattack.
Worst she never expected an old king like this to have such tricks up his sleeve.
Never had she been bested this way in all her life and sadly not by any foe but by a barrier.
Her head pounded hard as a low groan escaped her lips.
Instantly her body shone and her transformation took place without her consent. Not that she had any strength or power in her to help keep her transformed.
By this time, Raven was in too much of a bad shape to even bother with anything.
She was sure that wherever Xavier was, he must have heard the disaster she caused.
A softer groan escaped her lips in a whimper as she tried to move her head followed by her limbs.
"Aaahh!!"
A cry of pure pain followed next.
She could not believe the damage her body had faced and regretted all of her actions.
Finally, after much struggling, she managed to move her body so she laid flat on her back and stared at the lovely barrier dancing happily in a mocking demeanour before her.
Suddenly a thought scuttled into her mind forcing her eyes to close.
She imagined the smirk that would grace Xavier's face if he saw her condition now. After all, he did warn her.
Like a mirror, her mind replayed all he had said to her.
**Flashback**
"Call me delusional all you want, I am leaving," Raven huffed.
"I do not hope to remain here while you test your theory of loyal subjects," she spat out.
"Whether you like it or not, you cannot leave this place without my consent and viola," he spread both hands to his side.
"I am not giving it to a spoiled brat. Not until I figure out why you share a liking to her."
"Excuse me!"
"You are excused."
She gritted her teeth in rage. "Just who are you calling a brat?"
"Did I say something wrong or did I stutter?"
"Both!" She flared up in anger.
"Fine. I was stupid thinking a being like you with no regard for a lady's consent, would be kind enough to let me go. Thanks, but no thanks, I will figure out a way out."
A soft chuckle fell off his lips at her challenging words. "Great then, be my guest. Go. I am not stopping you. But let me warn you, whatever you get, you brought it upon yourself."
"Point taken! I am not scared."
**Flashback Ends**
She felt like cursing her mind for not recalling all of this when she got mad with rage.
In the end, he warned her but she didn't listen and now, she really brought this upon herself.
"Damn you, Dragon King. You won now, but I will have the last laugh."

Seated in one of the majestic rooms in the palace, Xavier chuckled out in disbelief as he leaned back against his ornate big black chair while narrowing his gaze on the gigantic mirror before him.
"She should have just called me a mannerless being who took females without their consent. How dare her?"
He took in a deep breath wanting to remain in control.
"Sigh. If not for the fact that I need to confirm whether she is Saphira or not and why she shared the same energy and blood with her, would I… Urgh!"
He slammed his hand against the mahogany table in full force as his lips parted to let out a huff.
For some time, he battled with his thoughts when suddenly the mirror screen lit up, bringing his attention to her.
He watched her battle with breaking the barrier and each time, he found her actions amusing while taking note of her changes.
'No doubt, she is a rainbow dragon.' He noted and something about that fact disturbed him as his brows drew together in a deep furrow while his eyes danced about in his socket.
He seemed to be contemplating something and was lost in thoughts when something bright flashed in his eyes, pulling him out of his thoughts.
His eyes widened in what looked to be pure astonishment as he watched her let out all of her powers, forcing him to rise to his feet.
"What is she doing? Is she…"
Xavier did not get the time to contemplate what was really going on or how to stop her when Raven let her powers surge out of her and aimed straight for the barrier.
BOOM!
He felt the ground tremble from the attack right from where he was, but that wasn't what left him stunned and speechless as his jaw fell without caution.
Xavier watched as the force backfired at her and threw her about till she collapsed on the floor.
Seconds passed and he kept his gaze centered on the mirror, waiting for any sign that she was alive and okay.
And when he heard her grunt, his cheeks puffed up, pulling out an uncontrolled smile as he let himself go.
"Hahahaha…"
