"Teach her a lesson?" Axel's voice was low and grave and the temperature in the room seemed to drop. Even the sky outside now looked darker, mirroring Axel's expression. "You were going to teach my secretary a lesson?"
If it were any possible, Luke's face turned paler as the gravity of his words dawned on him. He should not have said those words, especially to Axel's face. But now that he had said it, there was no going back. He refused to believe that he was being sent away because of a mere secretary.
"What is wrong with what I said?! Yes, I admit that I called her to my office to punish her but that was only because she humiliated me in the cafeteria!"
With every word that came out of Luke's mouth, Axel's face turned darker and the coldness he was emitting was slowly seeping into their skins and it was enough to turn everyone in the room into ice statues. Even Camden was starting to get worried. Axel only gets like this when he was extremely angry a few times in the past and those times ended with him either killing someone or destroying a building!
"That was my secretary Luke. You should not have thought of punishing her. You touched what you should not have!" Axel's cold voice rang in the room and everyone shivered. Right now, it was as though only the uncle and nephew were in the room.
The others were just one thought away from standing up and running out of the room while screaming with their hands above their heads and they couldn't be more relieved when Axel raised his hand to dismiss them.
Now, the room was empty with only Axel, Luke– who were still glaring at each other– and Camden who was trying as much as he could remain invisible to the eyes of Axel and Luke. He could have gone out of the room with the others but someone had to stay back to stop Axel from killing Luke!
And unfortunately, that someone was him.
With everyone out of the room, the temperature in the room dropped to the lowest and Axel stood up, his eyes fixed on Luke like a beast fixed on its prey. He walked towards like and with every step he took, Luke felt the ground under his feet shake and his legs weakened. Even though he was still standing and glaring at Axel, he was calculating how much time it would take for him to dash to the door and escape the grim ripper that was Axel.
Camden abruptly stood up, almost toppling over his chair and he ran to Axel's side, stopping in between Luke and Axel. "Axel, you need to calm down!" Camden spoke in a shaky voice. The look in Axel's eyes right now was enough to stop his heart from beating.
"Step aside". Axel ordered coldly and Camden almost gave up on separating their fight… no, this wasn't a fight, it was a scene before a murder took place… but he still stood there. "Axel…"
"Step aside!" He growled and his frosty eyes just seemed to move Camden away from their middle and he only stopped moving when his back touched the wall.
Immediately Camden moved away, Axel's hand shot up to Luke's neck and he began strangling his uncle. "Do you want to die so bad Luke?"
And even if he wanted to die, was it by Axel's hands?
"Despite Axel strangling him and limiting the flow of air into his lungs, Luke snickered. "Why? You are going to kill me because of your secretary? Has your heart perhaps gone soft? Did you turn soft-hearted because of her, Axel?" Luke taunted.
"Soft-hearted? In your dreams Luke!" Axel said as he strangled Luke. "And she is not just my secretary, she is now one of my people. You know how I get when it comes to one of my people, don't you Luke?" Axel remarked as he enjoyed the horrified expression that appeared on Luke's face.
Axel's people were not to be messed with!
"What?!" This time, Camden asked and his expression was etched in disbelief and puzzlement. When did Hannah become one of Axel's people? As far as he knew, Axel disliked Hannah, so how…
"She Is now one of my people". Axel stated, as an answer to Camden, then to Luke, he said, " You touched what is mine Luke, tell me, how should I punish you?" Axel tightened his fingers around Luke's neck.
Even though he was just an inch away from the jaws of death, Luke snarled, "So what if she is one of your people? Will you go against your grandfather for her? Also, I am your uncle whether you accept it or not, you should show some respect!" Luke yelled but he was met with Axel's calm face. "You are not fit to be a Miller!"
To Luke's words, Axel only smiled. That last name; he only took it because he enjoyed the discomfort on the faces of his relatives anytime he was being addressed as one of them. The only reason he still stuck with it was because of his grandfather.
As for respect, Axel would rather bow to a pole!
"I would stop talking if I were you Luke. Grandfather already lost one son. It would be sad if you die today because of your loose tongue". Axel warned.
Luke's eyes widened. He has known Axel long enough to know that those words were not empty. "You… you can't kill me, Axel!"
"Why? My father died by these hands, what makes you think I wouldn't do the same to you?"
Luke began to struggle violently and his fingers gripped Axel's hands on his neck, trying to push him away but Axel wouldn't budge. He took great delight in Luke's struggle.
To Luke's relief, Axel threw him to the side, making him fall to the ground unceremoniously. He even bumped his head into one of the seats but he couldn't be bothered by that right now. All that mattered to him was that had spared him and he was still alive.
