Axel drove them to an amusement park where Hannah saw Penelope playing like never before. She was smiling widely and her small figure was jumping around happily. In her hand, was a stuffed toy that was two times her size, making her look awkward while jumping. Behind her, was a man who Hannah didn't need anyone to tell her was one of Axel's people. He had an earbud on and he followed Penelope wherever she went.
Hannah looked at Axel, her eyes thanking him for what he did. She has never seen Penelope this happy before. Sure Penelope was a jolly child, but this was the first time Hannah was seeing her as happy as she was and Hannah was grateful to Axel for that.
Hannah and Axel walked to where Penelope was and the child's happiness tripled. She ran into Hannah's awaiting arms and hugged her tightly, discarding her stuffed toy. Hannah patted Penelope's back and released her from the hug. Penelope began rambling about everything she did, the rides she tried, the snacks she ate, and so on.
Axel, on the other hand, stood with the bodyguard and they talked for a while. Hannah could feel the bodyguard stealing glances at her but she didn't mind. It was normal to be cautious when there was a dangerous person near you. After a while, Axel dismissed the bodyguard and only the three of them were left, Hannah, Axel, and Penelope.
Penelope noticed Axel standing aside and she ran to him, picking up her stuffed toy on the way. She gave the stuffed toy to Axel, and though surprised, Axel collected it and patted Penelope on the head. It seems Penelope really likes giving him stuffed toys. Hannah could not help but feel a little jealous but when she saw Penelope's wide smile, she let it go.
Axel urged Penelope to continue playing and the child ran off but still in the sight of Hannah and Axel.
The duo sat on a bench and watched Penelope play happily on the slide. Axel didn't know why he followed Hannah here or why he was still sitting here beside her. He should be home by now since he still had a lot of work to do but for some reason, he didn't want to leave. Maybe because he wanted to keep seeing the bright yellow figure in front of him or maybe because he wanted to keep inhaling that sweet flowery fragrance.
Penelope ran to them again, startling the two adults. She pulled them to the swing and Axel, understanding what she wanted, placed her on the swing and pushed gently. Penelope screamed excitedly and when she was satisfied, Axel stopped.
She ran away again to try something else and Hannah wanted to follow her but Axel stopped her. He had seen the way Hannah's eyes followed the swing as it moved back and forth so he urged her to try it. Hannah, though uncomfortable, hopped on the swing and held the handles. She saw how happy Penelope was when she was on the swing so she wanted to try it as well.
The truth was, Hannah has never been to an amusement park before. All her childhood, she was hidden and when she was finally allowed to come out, she spent all her time killing people. Now that she was here, she wanted to try the swing too, like a normal person so when Axel asked her to, she got on it without arguing.
Hannah sat in the swing for a long time unmoving and Axel arched his brow. Was she just going to sit on the swing without swinging?
Unknown to him, Hannah was waiting for him to push the swing as he did to Penelope and when he didn't, she pursed her lips and got down.
"What?" Axel asked when he saw her accusing glare.
"Why didn't you push?" Axel stared wide-eyed at her when he heard her question. Was she a child? Why should he push the swing for her?
"Are you a child?" Hannah parted her lips to speak but no words came out, so she pouted instead. Wasn't he supposed to push her like he pushed Penelope? He was the one who urged her to try after all.
Axel stared at Hannah's pouting lips in a daze. She looked so different from the poker face she carried around all day. He thought she looked cute coupled with the yellow hair scarf floating in the wind behind her
Axel let out a small laugh. Now that image would be stuck in his head for a long time.
Hannah frowned when she heard Axel laugh. She thought he was making fun of her so she turned around and left but Axel grabbed her wrist before she could go further.
She turned to him and saw that he was still smiling and unknowingly, she pouted again. Axel fell into a daze again, his eyes fixed on her pouting lips. He shook his head and smiled again.
"Don't you know how to use a swing?" He asked and Hannah shook her head. "So you haven't tried a swing before". Hannah nodded and Axel was shocked. "Not even once?" Hannah nodded again.
"I have never been to a park before".
Axel just gaped at her in shock. Did she live inside a rock all her life?
"So this is your first time here?" Hannah frowned. Did she not just tell him this?
"Yes". Axel smiled proudly. It was her first time in the park and it was with Axel. It made him feel giddy on the inside
