Chapter 83 - Are you a child?

"Let me see".

Axel looked at Hannah skeptically. A minute ago, she was securely hiding the watch behind her, what made her think that he would just drop the watch into her hands?

"No, come here and show it to me". Hannah refused to budge and Axel refused to give the watch to her so their squabble continued till Axel decided, "Fine, I will come closer instead".

When Hannah heard him, her head shot up and she immediately raised her hand and shouted, "No! Stay back!" Hannah raised her voice. How could she allow him to come closer after what just happened?

"I will come to you instead".

Axel smirked, seeing her squirm around in her seat. He was obviously enjoying her flustered expression.

"Quick, show me!" Axel asked eagerly and Hannah frowned. Suddenly, the image of a child who was obsessed with his new toy–so much that he didn't wasn't to part with it– appeared in Hannah's head and she couldn't even think of a better way to describe Axel right now.

Hannah's hand reached to touch the watch but Axel suddenly withdrew his hand and Hannah was left touching air. "Don't try to take it away!"

'What the…'

Hannah frowned, "are you a child?!" She asked with disbelief etched on her face. Even Penelope would not act like this with her favorite toy!

"Call me whatever you want. All I care about is you showing me how this thing works". Hannah could almost see a pout forming on Axel's lips as he spoke and she couldn't help but sigh helplessly.

"Fine. Let me have a look at it and I will show you how to activate it, is that alright?"

If he was going to act like a child, then she would treat him like one!

"Okay, here". Axel passed the watch to her obediently and Hannah almost wanted to pat his head. If only he could be this nice and obedient.

"Come, let me show you". Axel leaned closer to Hannah as she explained the watch to him. Instead of buttons like the watches he knew, this watch could actually connect with what its owner was feeling and boom, the blade was out!

As much as he was impressed by that, Axel was confused. Earlier, when he was holding the watch, the blade suddenly popped out and nearly slashed his face. Surely, he did not mean to do that to himself.

"There is something else, this watch has a special drug in it that would make a person fall unconscious once inhaled". Hannah explained making Axel's eyes widen. This watch was more impressive than he thought.

"Really? Let me see". Unlike the blade that could connect to the owner's thoughts and thus did not need a button, there was a small button by the side of the watch. It was so small that it was nearly invisible which was why Axel could not find it even after looking for so long.

Hannah pressed the button and a small amount of gas leaked out of it before spreading around them. Axel leaned closer to the watch, trying to inhale the gas to find out if it truly worked. To his dismay, he didn't faint, the only thing he got was the sweet flowery smell coming from it.

"It smells nice". He said thoughtfully and Hannah frowned. The drug was odorless so it won't be easily detected by other people but how can it smell nice to Axel? To confirm, she pressed the button again and this time, inhaled it but she smelt nothing.

"I don't smell anything". She said confused and that was when Axel realized that he was leaning so close to Hannah, close enough to be able to breathe in her scent.

Unable to think properly, Axel suddenly shouted, "You liar! You said a person would faint if he inhaled it. How is it that both of us are still wide awake and not unconscious?!" He feigned annoyance and folded his hands across his chest childishly.

Hannah sighed again, "That's because drugs like this don't work on me, I don't know about you though". Hannah was speaking the truth and Axel saw it from her expression.

Ever since she had known herself, Hannah had never been a victim of poison gas, so inhaling it was naturally safe for her, but Axel…

"This is so cool!" Axel looked delighted. "Where did you get this from?"

"Raymond". Hannah's face sank as she said Raymond's name and it didn't go unnoticed by Axel, who at this point was confused.

Raymond?

"You mean, Raymond Young?"

Hannah nodded, "Yes, he is the leader of the guild I came from".

Axel was shocked beyond comprehension but now that he thought of it, it seemed to answer many of his past questions. For example, Raymond had come to meet him personally to help him with Hannah, an average guild member wouldn't be able to do that. He could only do that because he was the leader of the guild!

But still, he is so young, and yet he was the leader of the guild, not just any guild, the one Hannah was a part of. Seeing Hannah fight two times with his very own eyes, Axel could already tell how people from Raymond's guild were!

And here, Axel thought he, himself, was extraordinary.

He had seen Raymond and Hannah together once and he had also seen how much Raymond cared for her, so why did Raymond kick her out of the guild if he cared so much?

He was about to ask Hannah about it but he noticed the darkened expression she wore, and unknowingly, his face also darkened.

He did not act childishly a while ago only for her to go back to being depressed again!

He had intentionally thrown tantrums to help her relax a little and he was not expecting her to go back to being depressed all of a sudden at the mention of Raymond!

Out of anger and maybe still putting in a bit of childlike effort, Axel dipped his hand into the cup of water and splashed it mercilessly on Hannah.

Hannah: "..."

Hannah was speechless as the water dripped down her face and she looked up to see Axel staring at her with an irritated expression. She wondered what she had done to tick him off. Suddenly, he stood up and walked to his seat, picked up his suit jacket, and hung it on his left shoulder.

"Come on, let's leave".

"Where are we going?"

"Back home, what do you think?" Axel started walking to the door, totally ignoring Hannah who was still staring at him in shock.

"Stand up! I need to send you home"

Hannah was still confused. Even so, she stood up and spoke lightly, "You don't need to send me back sir, I wouldn't want to bother you with small things like that". Hannah had used this line on Raymond many times in the past and it worked like a charm. She was confident that it was also going to work this time around.

However, she had forgotten that she was talking to Axel.

Axel's lips twitched as she addressed him formally. Wasn't she dragging a watch with him a while back?

"If you don't want to bother me then follow me and quit talking so much, it irritates me". With that, Axel walked away, leaving Hannah shocked for a while before she came back to her senses and trotted behind him.
