Unfortunately, it didn't work and Hannah was back to being angry. She was so angry that her entire body was shaking from trying to control herself but in the end, she couldn't and her hand flew to Axel's neck, tightening her fingers around it.
The water was still pouring on Hannah but she didn't even try stopping it. She just let it flow and all her focus was on the man in front of her and her fingers that were tightening around his neck
To say he wasn't shocked by Hannah's reaction was a lie. Axel had not expected Hannah to strangle him. A minute ago, they were having a normal conversation and now, he was being strangled. Hannah was not just threatening him, she was really going to kill him if he did nothing. That madness in her eyes wasn't for show after all.
"You said you won't kill me, so what's this?" Axel spoke calmly like he wasn't being strangled at this moment. He looked relaxed and wasn't even struggling making Hannah put more pressure on her fingers around his neck.
"What makes you think I won't kill you? Did you forget who I am?" Hannah replied in a low, mocking tone.
Axel creased his brows. Hannah was far away from reasoning with. "Normal people wouldn't act like this, you know".
As though she had been hit by a lightning bolt, Hannah's face paled and her hand on Axel's neck seemed to turn lifeless. Before she could fall as her legs had already weakened, Axel moved forward and caught her, resulting in him getting all wet as the water was still running.
Looking at Hannah now, Axel noticed how her expression changed when he spoke of normal people. He was right, Hannah needed help!
As he helped her stand straight, his hand made contact with her exposed arm and he felt her cold skin. Right now, he didn't even know if it was because of the water or his words. He unwrapped his hands around Hannah and fixed the tap.
"I will get you something to change into. Wait here for me". With that, Axel left the rest room and minutes later, he was back with a shopping bag in hand. He had also changed his clothes as the water had poured on him too. "Wear this and come outside".
Hannah's response was slow and he had to shake her a few times to get her attention. When Hannah took the bag from him, he stepped outside and shut the door behind him gently.
Inside the room, Hannah stared at herself in the mirror as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. Just what had she done? Because of what she did, Axel may begin to think of her as some bloodthirsty creature who was out for his life. She strangled him and if Axel hadn't spoken the time he did, he would probably be dead by now. The marks her fingers left on his neck did not go unnoticed by her after all.
Was Axel going to look at her like other people do now?
Maybe he would send her away. No one wanted a killer as their secretary after all.
The tears she tried to suppress flowed down freely and she didn't even bother wiping them off her face. In her life, there were only two people who weren't scared of Hannah and didn't look at her with eyes filled with disgust, Raymond and Axel. However, Raymond didn't count given that he was the one who made her what she was, leaving only Axel.
She was going to kill him the first time she saw him and yet, he kept her close to him. Even though he showed his hatred by making her work like a machine, he had never once looked at her like she was a killer. He even helped her wrap her injured arm, and now, once again, she tried to kill him, even holding a blade to his throat. How would he look at her in the same way he used to? Those cold eyes of his would probably be filled with disgust right now and he would be getting ready to send her away.
Hannah wiped her face and controlled her breathing.
She had decided.
If Axel was going to send her away, then she would leave without making trouble for him.
She opened the bag he brought and when she saw the clothes he brought, she felt her heart tighten. Deep down, she had expected it to be a yellow dress, after all, he only ever brought yellow dresses for her but now, it was a plain grey shirt and black skirt, exactly like what she was wearing right now.
Hannah undressed and quickly put on the clothes Axel got for her before stepping outside the restroom. She wasn't going to delay and make things difficult for Axel.
To her surprise, when she stepped out, Axel was leaning on the wall outside the restroom and was waiting for her. "Took you long enough. I was about to step in and pull you out". Hannah's head was lowered so she didn't see the smirk on Axel's face.
She didn't want to raise her head and look into his eyes. She wouldn't be able to bear it if she saw that disgust-filled look in his eyes so she kept her head down. It would be better if she left without seeing him like that.
"Are you hungry?" Axel asked, making Hannah snap out of her reverie. Without thinking, she looked up and saw Axel looking at her. He seems to always have his eyes on her these days. The look she was expecting to see wasn't there, axel wasn't looking at her like she was a monster. Though his eyes were still cold, he didn't look like he was going to send her away or was it just her imagination?
"Are you not scared that I will kill you one day?" Before Hannah realized it, she had already blurted out what was in her mind and now, she was looking anxiously at Axel, waiting for his answer.
"Why should I be scared? You already promised not to kill me, so I hope you keep your word". The knots that formed in Hannah's heart loosened and she finally let out the breath she didn't know she was holding in. But when did she promise not to kill him?
"When did I promise not to kill you?".
To this, Axel raised an eyebrow. Clearly, she didn't remember what happened last night when she was drunk and he wasn't about to remind her of it. "Never mind, let's go".
Axel pushed himself forward from the wall and started walking away, leaving Hannah who kept staring at his back. When he noticed that she was not following after him Axel turned around and walked back to her. Without saying a word, he grabbed her hand and pulled her after him
