Luke Miller stared curiously at Hannah, wondering what his nephew saw in her that made him hire her as his secretary. He had tried to gather information about her but he only ended up with nothing. Except for her name and home address, he knew nothing about her.
She had humiliated him yesterday in the middle of the cafeteria and now that he thought about it, he was getting angrier. "Apologize". He ordered in a low voice and he saw Hannah furrow her brows.
"What?" Hannah was shaking from anger as she heard him. Apologise? Did he make her come from the top floor just to 'apologize'?
Deciding not to stay here any longer and ending up adding to her headache and ruining her already bad day, Hannah turned around to leave the office. She reached for the handle but when she turned it, the door refused to budge.
Taking a deep breath, Hannah turned around and saw Luke who had a vicious smile on his face. "Did you think about what will happen if Mr. Miller finds out about this?" She asked in an attempt to scare him into letting her leave but the man just laughed and stood up from his seat, coming to stand in front of his desk.
"Mr. Miller? What will happen if Mr. Miller finds out, huh? Tell me". Luke mocked. "Axel is my nephew. He won't possibly do anything to me but you…" he tutted, "...you are just a secretary. If anything happens to you, he will have you replaced. You are not the first one, you know".
Hannah's eyes widened. So this idiot was axels uncle? She finally saw the nameplate on Luke's desk; Luke Miller, it read. Hannah sighed. Using axels name to threaten him would do no good.
"Let me out!" Hannah instructed. She was close to losing her temper and if she did, this man's blood would be spilled everywhere.
"No, I won't". Luke retorted as he casually picked his nails. "Just apologize and I will let you out".
Hannah scoffed, "So you called me here just to get an apology. Don't you think it's pathetic? Asking for an apology from a secretary like me. You are pathetic!" Hannah spat out.
Like turned insanely angry at Hannah's words. In a flash, he gripped her wrist and slammed her on the desk behind him. "How dare you?!"
Hannah gasped in surprise as she wasn't expecting Luke to move that fast. Now she was pressed on the desk with Luke towering over her.
If there was anything Hannah hated, it was being trapped by someone, especially if the person was someone like Luke who she could easily kill with just a slight movement of her wrist.
Hannah's eyes blazed with killing intent and for a second, Luke was scared as he was a coward but he was also a proud man and would not let himself be intimidated by an angry woman.
Hannah slowly raised her wrist to his neck. If she wanted, he would be dead in the next second. The only thing keeping her reasoning in place was the thought of what Axel would do if he finds out that she killed someone in his company, especially if that person is his uncle.
Suddenly, the door opened and Axel stood there with a smile on his face. The other two people in the room have yet to notice him and he watched them without saying a word.
From the way hannahs jaw was clenched, Axel could tell that she was close to losing control. If he didn't do anything now, he may be called back home to attend his uncle's funeral. It was so entertaining watching them in that position and he wanted to see how much longer it would take before Hannah snaps, but…
"You seem to be having so much fun dear uncle". Axel remarked with a big smile, showing his pearly white teeth.
Luke's face turned pale at the sight of Axel and he scrambled to get off Hannah. Hannah, who was still angry, stood up and walked out of the office without even acknowledging Axel. But Axel didn't mind. He closed the door behind Hannah and looked at his uncle, his smile still dancing on his lips.
Axel walked towards his uncle whose face turned paler with every step Axel took. He raised his hand to arrange his uncle's crooked tie like the 'good' nephew he was. "That was my secretary, uncle, you shouldn't have done that to her". Axel said, still smiling. A smile that Luke saw as the opening of the gate of hell.
"I'm sorry Axel, it was my mistake".
"Of course, it's always your mistake". Axel remarked as he kept fixing Luke's tie which was taking longer than necessary. "How about we have a little chat tomorrow? You should get some rest, you don't look very good".
Axel patted lukes shoulder and left the office, leaving Luke with shaky legs. When he got out of the office, he looked around but could not find Hannah. On reaching the entrance of the general manager's department-like office, he saw the three women who were still shaking after their earlier conversation with him, and asked them, "Where is she?" The three of them pointed at the door with shaky fingers and Axel nodded. "You are fired. All of you".
The three of them fell to their knees in an attempt to plead but Axel was long gone. Being fired from Starlight Industries was synonymous with staying jobless for the rest of your life in this country. Axel was that powerful.
Slowly, they stood up from their kneeling positions with tears in their eyes and began packing their things.
