Chapter 62 - Just how clueless is she

Axel frowned a little when he saw Alan lost in thoughts again. "Mr. Willow?" Alan jolted when he heard Axel call out his name. He turned to Axel and apologized immediately, bowing over and over again. He went so low that his head was almost touching the marble tiles. He was not a very tall man anyway.

Axel sighed.

Though his face lacked expression, it was clear that he was fed up but he said nothing, surprising them again. Instead, he kept walking and looking at the models and designs all by himself. A nervous Alan quickly walked behind Axel after clearing his dry throat.

After a long time of walking around, stopping, talking, and repeating the whole thing for some time, the meeting was finally over and it was time for them to leave. Unexpectedly, Axel gets a call and after looking at the caller's ID, he excused himself to take the call. Hannah, out of instinct wanted to follow Axel but a certain wall in her way wouldn't let her.

Who else would stand in front of her if not Alan Willow with a sickening smile on his face?

Hannah stepped back a little, no, not a little, she took at least seven steps back as she was uncomfortable being so close to him. But Alan, either he didn't get the hint or completely ignored it, moved closer to her

"Hello". In response, Hannah glared at him but the fool seemed to understand nothing as his sickening smile grew wider. "I am Alan Willow, CEO of half moon industries".

Okay, who cares?

Alan had a smug look on his face expecting Hannah to be impressed but unfortunately for him, Hannah knows nothing about… yes, half-moon industries. The only company she knows was axels company where she works as his secretary. So Hannah was not in the least, impressed by his introduction.

Hannah stared at the man in front of her not knowing what to do. She looked at Axel, who was still on the phone, suddenly wondering why the phone call was taking so long.

If that person, whoever it was, didn't call, she wouldn't be stuck with this man and his sickening smile.

Not wanting to seem rude as Alan was Axel's business partner, she bowed slightly in greeting. "I am Hannah. Mr. Miller's secretary".

Alan was taken aback by Hannah's introduction. Axel's secretary? Did Axel fire Camden? Nonetheless, he smiled.

"You should work in my company". He said, still smiling but his smile fell when Hannah shook her head.

"I'm not interested"

"I will make you the general manager. Seeing that you used to work for Mr. Miller, I do not doubt your skills and expertise". He tried again.

"Not interested". Hannah replied again. Seriously, is this man stupid or what?

"You are quite something, Hannah". Alan said and that was the worst that Hannah has ever heard her name being said. "Any normal person would have jumped at this opportunity but you didn't".

Any normal person?

Hannah looked at Axel who was still on the phone. He had told her that she would never be a normal person, no matter what she tried. She was going to prove to him that she could live like a normal person.

"I'm interested". Hannah said, shocking Alan. He clearly saw the look on her face when she rejected his offer and now she was accepting it.

Nodding, with a smile on his face, he gave Hannah his business card. "Whenever you are ready". He walked away from her, still smiling.

Hannah looked at the business card in her hand. Nothing was going on in her mind, she just held the card in her hand and stared at it like she was dazed. She only snapped out of it when she heard Axel's footsteps and weirdly, she wanted to hide the card but alas, she had no purse and the stupid dress had no pocket.

It was useless though as Axel would have probably seen it since he was walking in her direction. His eyes lingered on her for a while before turning to look at Alan who was behind her, for some reason.

"We will be leaving now". Axel said and Alan bowed for the umpteenth time that day. Axel and Hannah walked away while Alan and his secretary escorted them.

Hannah found it weird since it wasn't necessary but since Axel said nothing about it she shrugged it off. She thought that he and his secretary would stop following them when they reached the elevator, but the duo followed them until they got to Axel's car.

"What did he say to you?" Axel asked immediately after they entered the car. Hannah was not even fully seated yet. "What did he say?" He asked again when Hannah didn't respond.

Hannah, suddenly feeling like she did something wrong, sighed and told him the truth. She even showed him the business card, just because.

"And you agreed?" Axel asked, his voice low, but Hannah wasn't intimidated. She nodded and Axel sighed. "Why?" Axel, for some reason, felt wronged. He should be happy that Hannah was leaving but he was not. Maybe because he knew Alan's true intentions. Those lecherous eyes of his say, in loud volumes, what his intentions were.

Hannah pursed her lips at the series of questions but she answered anyway. "He said any normal person would do it".

Axel frowned, not quite understanding what she said. His mind replayed the conversation they had earlier that day and he turned to look at Hannah in shock. "You agreed because he said any normal person would do it?!" His voice was higher than he intended because of how shocked he was.

He thought she was going to say something like the pay is higher, but she agreed because 'any normal person would do it'?!

Just how clueless is Hannah?
