Hannah stood in front of the full-body mirror in her room and she sighed in contentment. She was wearing a grey shirt with sleeves that stopped above her wrist. The hem of her shirt disappeared into her black pencil skirt and her silky black hair was let down to fall below her shoulders. She picked her black flats and wore them wriggling her toes in them to make sure they were comfortable.
She was ready for work.
She had the look of any normal secretary.
That was what she wanted!
Camden had called her two days back and he practically begged her to come back to work. She was elated after hearing the news thinking that Axel had a change of heart and was allowing her to come back to work.
She glanced at the sleeping child who was curled up on the bed. By the time she wakes up, there would be no one to look after her.
Maybe she was a bad mother?
She tore her gaze away from Penelope and walked out of the room.
She arrived at the company and as usual, she went to Axel's office first.
She knocked on the door lightly before turning the knob and entering the office.
The moment Axels sighted her, the temperature seemed to have dropped greatly. Hannah instinctively took a step back and her back was plastered against the door. Even Camden, who was behind Axel, had to move back a little for fear that Axel's aura might freeze him to death.
Axel narrowed his eyes at Hannah while thinking, 'Did I not scare her enough? Does she have a death wish?'
"Good morning, Mr. Miller"
"Why are you here?" Axel's voice made Hannah flinch subconsciously. She tilted her head, confused, and looked at Camden who was trying his best not to run out of the office.
Axel's aura was terrifying!
Camden moved forward immediately when he felt Hannah's eyes on him. "I called her!"
Axel turned to look at Camden and he closed his eyes for a while as if trying to suppress something.
He opened his eyes and turned back to Hannah before ordering, "Get out!"
Hannah didn't need to be told twice!
Without hesitating, she turned around and left the office, making sure that the door did not make any noise because, from the look on Axel's face, even the tiniest sounds would irritate him.
Inside the office, Axle glared at Camden who had his eyes fixed on the marble tiles as though the color of the tiles would change if he stared at them for long.
"Why did you call her?" Camden jolted when axel's voice reached his ears. Axel sounded angry and Camden was frightened. He had gone against axel and he knew the consequences.
"Umm… Axel… calm down a little, hmm?" Camden stuttered. He was finding it difficult to speak when Axel's freezing aura was all over the place.
Luckily, Axel listened to him and he slowly started relaxing. He took a deep breath before speaking.
"I know you fired her but the thing is… there is no one to replace her for now, so I called her back. I will be going back to HQ soon and she is the best choice for us".
Camden explained and his eyes roamed about Axel's face, trying to read his expression but the man was unreadable as always.
Axel threw Camden a dirty look but he knew that Camden was right. Hannah just had to be a good replacement for Camden!
Hannah was good at what she does and was the best choice like Camden had said but there was no way he was letting her stay around him.
Hannah was trouble for him!
"Find someone else". Camden nodded immediately. He didn't know why Axel didn't want Hannah to work for him because, to him, Hannah was a good secretary.
She could work for hours on end and she could do things that even he finds difficult sometimes. He didn't understand what Axel's problem was.
"Why don't you try working with her for a while". Camden suggested but by the look on Axel's face, it seemed like he didn't like his suggestion.
"I don't want her, just find someone else". Camden kept quiet and nodded again. He had questions to ask but seeing the frown on Axel's face he couldn't ask them.
The office was silent for a while and the sound of their even breathing was the only thing that could be heard.
Acel suddenly frowned again and looked at Camden. "Did you tell grandfather about the attacks?"
"Of course I did!" Camden exclaimed suddenly, forgetting that Axel was angry a few minutes back. "If I didn't, he would have found out eventually and that would have been a problem for me. He would have chopped my head off and I don't want that". He rambled without thinking, totally ignoring the scowl on Axel's face.
Actually, that was the least he cared about right now.
Axel's grandfather was as ruthless as axel was, if not worse. If anything happened to Axel and he kept it from his grandfather, then it was Camden's responsibility to do so. So instead of having himself killed for no reason, he threw Axel to the wolves.
"You are fired!" Axel said seriously but Camden only sneered.
"I will be in my office if you need me". He turned around and walked out of the office all smiles.
It was not like Axel would do anything to him.
