Axel finally pressed the button on his desk to call Hannah, he waited for some seconds but she didn't enter. Maybe she wasn't paying attention to it. If not for the deal he made with Raymond, he would have gone out of his office and would have scolded her.
He took out his phone and dialled her number, he was happy that he collected her contact information the day before. This way, whenever she wasn't paying attention to the intercom, he would just call her using his phone
...…..
Hannah was going through the documents on her table as she waited for the CEO to arrive. She had set her phone to silence and didn't realize that it was ringing. She closed the file she was reading and reached out for another one when she saw her phone screen flashing. She picked up the phone and when she saw that it was an unknown number, she kept her phone back on the desk as she thought it was unimportant.
Seconds later, the phone screen lit up again, this time she took the call and brought it to her ears. She didn't speak, she just kept the phone in her ears, waiting for the person on the other end to say something, but whoever the person was, he didn't say anything. She sighed and was about to drop the phone when she heard the voice that she had begun to dread the most. "My office. Now!" She heard Axel's voice and her phone almost fell from her hand.
She was sure that he wasn't in the office, so why was he asking her to go in? Maybe he wanted to get ng from there, she thought. But why did it sound like he was angry? "Oo..okay, sir". She said and stood up from her seat.
She opened the door of the office and walked inside casually with her eyes down and turned to lock the door behind her. She suddenly thought of something, since he isn't in the office right now, it was her chance to look for her Annunciator and get away from this company.
At this point, she was yet to turn to the CEO's desk so she didn't notice the look that Axel was giving her. When she got into the office and locked the door, Axel thought she was planning to attack him and his spine straightened instinctively. He waited for her to attack but when she still stood facing the door with her hand on the handle, he opened his mouth to speak but stopped himself when he saw her walking to the cabinet that was closest to the door. She was yet to turn her head towards him.
She opened the cabinet and started looking through it thoroughly. Alex continued watching her movements with confusion written all over his face till he realized something.
She was looking for her Annunciator!
Axel didn't say anything and just sat there, watching and waiting for her to realize that he was in the office.
Hannah was in her bubble, unaware Of the pair of eyes that were watching her. She searched the cabinet thoroughly but didn't find her annunciator. She arranged the cabinet the way she met it, making sure that Axel suspects nothing when he gets back. She moved to the next cabinet and continued her search. After minutes of searching, she dropped her hands to her sides, feeling frustrated. She arranged the cabinet and started massaging her nape. Some seconds later, she suddenly paused in the movements on her nape. She remembered that Axel placed the annunciator on his desk when he took it from her. She decided to look on his desk if she would be able to find her annunciator. With that, she turned swiftly to the desk and almost started walking when she saw Axel seated and he was staring at her. She froze on the spot and her breath hitched.
Hannah was shocked to her bones. She was sure that Axel was not in the office when she entered. And she didn't hear the sound of the door to indicate that someone had come in. Or was there a secret passage that led in and out of the office?
"Why were you going through the cabinets? Did you lose something?" Axel asked. He knew what she was looking for but he chose to act dumb.
On the other hand, Hannah could not make a meaningful sentence as she kept stammering. "I…the…the thing is…I was looking for some documents… and I thought of checking the cabinets". Hannah discreetly exhaled as she lied through her teeth. She was lucky that he didn't catch on to her lie. Or so she thought.
Axel knew what was going on in her mind. He had kept the annunciator in a hidden place and he was sure that no one, not even the assassins would find out about it. He wouldn't be bothered if she decides to search the entire office because he knew that her attempts were going to be futile.
"You called me sir". Hannah said, trying to shift his attention to something else. "Ah…yes. About that, are you just coming to the company?" Hannah's eyes widened and she quickly replied, "No sir, I have been here for a long while now. I even came before…." She tried to explain but Axel cut her off. "I told you to report to me when you come to the office and when you leave, didn't I? You did not follow my orders and you will be punished for that". Axel said to have Hannah's eyes widen in response.
Yesterday she was punished for coming late and today was no different. If things continue like this, she will end up being punished whenever she comes to work. "Go to all the departments in the company, gather all the information that needs my attention and report them to me. There should be no mistakes in the reports".
Hannah's shoulders dropped as she heard him. She didn't like being around people but now she has to talk to them. "Also think of this as a way to get familiar with the other employees and yes, don't use the elevator, use the stairs. That will teach you not to disobey my orders in the future". Hannah thought that her ears were playing tricks on her. The company has over twelve floors and he wants her to use the stairs?! This CEO sure is crazy.
" Okay sir, I will get going". She turned to the door and left the office. Immediately she got out, she exhaled audibly. She had held her breath the entire time in the presence of the
CEO and prayed that he didn't suspect anything.
