A smirk carved itself on Axel's face the moment he saw Hannah running to him. To say he was elated was an understatement. At last, she chose him.
He patiently waited for her to reach him and when she did, she opened the door and sat inside the car, all the while not looking and speaking to him but Axel was fine with that. All that mattered was that she was here and not in some other place fighting and risking her life.
Hannah stared long and hard outside of the window like she was waiting for something or someone to jump out of the shadows and attack. She could feel Axel's eyes on her but she didn't turn to him. That was until she felt his hand on her wrist.
He suddenly pulled her and made her sit on his lap, positioning her knees so that she straddled him. Hannah felt her heart beat rapidly as she stared down at his face. She wanted to move and go back to her position but Axel's hands on her hips would not allow that.
She felt his cold fingertips on her chin as he tilted her head upwards to stare right into his eyes while his eyes trailed down to her lips. His face was unreadable as he caressed her lower lip with his thumb.
"Hannah…" He uttered with eyes still on her lips and his thumb still brushing her lower lip lightly, "Close your eyes and focus on me". His voice was as light as a feather, tickling her heart and sending foreign sensations through her body.
Like she was under a spell, her eyelids fell and she closed her eyes. As he had asked, she focused on him. If it were any other time, she would have found it difficult to do as he had asked but now that she was in this position, with cold fingertips on her nape, her hand on his chest feeling his rapid heartbeat and surrounded by his intoxicating masculine scent, it wasn't really difficult.
Axel gently stroked her cheek with his thumb as if trying to ease her nervousness. He could hear her heart beat fast just like his. He wasn't sure of what he was about to do, if it was right or not. But he had to do it.
This was not the only way that he knew, but for now, this was the only thing he could think of. This was the only thing he could do to distract her and draw her attention to something else. He could hear her heart beating in anticipation and wonder.
Hannah's heart pounded in her ribcage as she felt Axel's face inch closer and closer to hers, she didn't want to believe it was what she thought that was going to happen, but it was. His soft lips pressed against hers and everything faded into the background. For a while, their lips just stayed against each other and neither of them moved. It was as though they were trying to get used to the sensation of feeling the other's lips on theirs.
That was until Axel's lips began to move against hers with a bit more pressure and Hannah felt intoxicated. Her hands on his chest turned into fists crumpling his shirt as if trying to stop herself from flying away. She felt like if Axel kept kissing her like this, she was going to fly away. His kiss was gentle yet it left her in a daze.
Her body turned into jelly in his embrace and she was surprised that she was still conscious and had not run out of breath yet.
Once their lips parted, Axel opened his eyes and he was satisfied with what he saw. Hannah's was so red and it looked like she was still in a daze. Her eyes were still closed and her lips were slightly swollen, a proof of what they had just done. He was sure now that she was fully distracted and there was no way she was going to snap out of it soon.
Even though he knew that, Axel still moved forward and his lips connected with hers once again. This time, it was not to distract her, it was for himself. When he pressed his lips against hers the first time, he realized that it was not going to be the last time. He wanted it. He wanted to keep kissing her honey-sweet lips. It was strange. He could not remember wanting anything as much as he wanted this.
Hannah felt her reasoning slowly fade away as Axel sucked her lower lip. His kisses were hard and full of need that Hannah thought she was going to faint from lack of air. Fortunately, Axel gave her a second to breathe before smashing his lips against hers again.
Hannah was left breathless when their lips parted. With eyes still closed, she tried to catch her breath. Axel raised his hand and rubbed her soft and tender lips as he waited for her to recover. He was still not satisfied even after what he just did but he had to restrain himself for Hannah or she was going to faint from being deprived of oxygen.
When Hannah opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Axel's face which seemed dark. He was not even trying to hide or suppress the lust he felt. But that was not what surprised her. What surprised her were his eyes.
His eyes were even darker than his face and it sent cold shivers through her body. His eyes shone with a mystifying light and they were… red?
Hannah's body turned rigid and she held her breath. For some inexplicable reason, she could not tear her eyes away from his even though she was scared to death. Initially, she thought she had imagined it but even after she kept staring for a while, his eyes were still red. Those cold brown eyes were now crimson.
"Y-your eyes…" Hannah managed to speak with her eyes still locked on his. He seemed confused by what she just uttered as he tilted his head slightly and his eyebrows knitted.
While he was trying to make sense of what Hannah had said, Axel saw his eyes reflected in the rearview mirror. His eyes widened when he saw how red they were. even he was frightened when he saw those eyes of his and for a second, he actually thought those weren't his eyes but someone else's.
He looked several times before looking at Hannah who was still terrified. He was surprised that she was still sitting and not running for her life right now. Even he was shocked when he saw his own eyes, what more Hannah? But she just sat there, though looked terrified, showed no signs of running away.
Before he knew it, Axel was leaning forward till his lips joined Hannah's again and engaged her lips in a slow and sensuous kiss.
